My full time job is in IT, specializing in all aspects of security. This system was easily to install. One review outlined that the DVR generated a lot of noise -- the DVR is connected to our main TV and I never notice the noise when watching TV. The noise itself is comparable to a newer desktop PC. The supplied BNC cabling was long enough for my place and pulled easily through walls to install. Picture quality is great. The night vision is decent, but if you install a camera above a light source (i.e. flood light) it will allow full color to record at night. If you want to review license plates, I'd suggest getting an optional PTZ camera depending on the provided cameras location (mine is 30 ft away from street; see attached pictures). If you plan to leverage the motion detect features and alarms, ensure that your mounting location is not near something that will generate a lot of false positives (i.e. leaves on a tree shuffled around by the wind). I have all 4 cameras setup to record at highest resolution and can retain 5 full days worth of constant video and motion detect. From a networking ensure your router and / or range extender are cable of transferring data at rates of 1 GB+. The FLIR Cloud client works will on my Android and my wife's iPhone (setup took less than 5 minutes). You must understand your local network well enough to identify the DVR that allows you to review DVR content on your PC (mine is Windows 10 and works very well). I don't use the native DVR control panel as it's cumbersome without a keyboard. Be cognizant when viewing the Live View and local DVR recordings that there are main-streams and sub-streams which affect the quality of the picture you'll be reviewing when using the FLIR Cloud clients (on your phone and PC). The cameras have endured the elements quite well ranging from rain, hail and now entering fall and early morning frost, understanding all are mounted under an eve at my location. My only concern is the winter, as I haven't had an opportunity to review the cameras performance below 30 degrees (F), noting the camera is rated to perform at temperatures of 4 degrees (F).

Had the cameras installed professionally by the Geek Squad.Didnt want to run wires in the attic on 100 degree day! This is our first surveillance system and we are amazed at the clear HD video. The night vision is pretty good also. The 1TB dvr fills up in about 7 days with all 4 cams rolling but formatting is easy to do.Easy to get video feeds on your mobile devices.Large 197 page online owners manual offers a multitude of customization options for the system.Don't opt for email notification for motion detection until you have configured that option to your specific needs or you will get non stop email notifications.Camera bodies are plastic but so far seem to be doing a good job.Like many other reviewers have noted, the dvr unit is LOUD....but overall we are satisfied with it.
