Louise's Diary
An aging Jewish man recalls his tumultuous childhood during the German occupation of France in this war drama starring Anemone, Deborah Durand, and Gregory Barboza. Upon pouring through his sister Sarah's diary from 1942, Jean recalls the affair she had fallen into with reluctant SS officer Hans, who secretly aided Jews in fleeing France. Terrified of the consequences of having her Jewish heritage revealed, young Sarah assumed the name Louise Berger, and sought refuge in a safe house owned by cabaret singer Huguette. Throughout the course of the war, Huguette's mute mother Margot desperate Jews to escape certain death. When Hans begins frequenting the house, he and Louise fall into a passionate romance. Their fragile relationship and the secrecy of the safe house are soon threatened, however, with the unexpected arrival of a fugitive French Resistance fighter. Realizing they are no longer safe in France Hans and Louse are forced to take flight. Later, when Jean becomes drawn into the conflict, the situation turns critical. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
