The Apple M1 chip redefines the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Featuring an 8-core CPU that flies through complex workflows in photography, coding, video editing, and more. Incredible 8-core GPU that crushes graphics-intensive tasks and enables super-smooth gaming. An advanced 16-core Neural Engine for more machine learning power in your favorite apps. Superfast unified memory for fluid performance. And the longest-ever battery life in a Mac at up to 20 hours.² It’s Apple's most popular pro notebook. Way more performance and way more pro.
This is my third Mac purchase from Best Buy in Mission Viejo. The M1 MacBook Pro is a game-changer.
My first purchase was an iMac in 2013. My second purchase was a MacBook Air in 2014. Both those units are still up and running and work great!
Now on to the M1 Power Book Pro:
This laptop is on steroids. It is so fast that I can't even make a French Press Coffee the way I used to on my iMac.
For those who surf the web, do email and consume media truckloads, this is a perfect laptop.
Yes, I also create media, and I wanted to see if this laptop were everything I thought it would be.
The answer is yes.
Now the camera is not the best, okay?
Everything else, simply perfect!
PS I originally wanted to get a new MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and a 2TB drive, and Apple is still ramping things up. No worries, as soon as the new iMac M1x comes out, I'll get that too, LOL. For 1299.00 USD, this is a great value.
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing. Wow Apple really did it again. I upgraded my current 2013 MacBook Air to this 2020 MacBook Pro and I love the new upgrade. If you’re looking for a new laptop and for a decent gaming laptop, now with the M1 chip this thing outweighs a lot of high end gaming laptops, however I do have to say steam is updating their games to this model as soon as they can!
Man, what I can say about the new MacBook Pro with the M1 chip, other than it’s just incredible!! So fast and reliable! I use a music recording software called Cubase, which can be a resource hog, and the MacBook doesn’t bat an eye at it. Just amazing!! Easily my “best” Best Buy purchase ever!!
The M1 wins. I had bought the intel with 16 gigs and it was warm and you can hear the fans blowing. I exchanged for the M1 and wow!!! Don’t even think about getting an intel MacBook Pro. Go right for the M1!!!
Amazing MacBook!! The MacBook with M1 is blazing fast, even the standard base model with no upgrades. This was a replacement from an iPad since I needed more of a computer feel and software for my work. I now use sidecar with my iPad for additional display.
I've run into ZERO issues with any software or applications not working with the M1 chip. I've heard of problems arising but I myself have not come across that at all.
If you have any other Apple products and are looking into buying a computer but hesitating on a Mac, SERIOUSLY consider an Apple computer (whether it's an iMac, Mac mini, Pro or Air). The Apple ecosystem is what makes the slightly higher price tag SO worth it. All of your Apple products sync with one another seamlessly and everything you put on your iPhone can be accessed by your MacBook or iPad via iCloud (ecosystem), etc and vice versa, which makes keeping all of your things in "one place" so easy. You can also continue where you left off on one device and pick back up from another. This is what has kept me for years. MacOS is also incredibly easy to use.
These computers will last over a decade -- I have a mid-2011 iMac in my office that is still working today. It's an investment but one that will LAST. I work for a tech company and see Windows computers coming in and out for repairs and getting replaced every week. Mac computers are far less frequent.
You will love whatever Mac you decide on when you realize just how much you're missing out on from not having one! Amazing, amazing computers. Powerful and secure. Great battery life. Beautiful Retina display. Seamless switching between devices. I could go on and on and on and on...

Super fast; great value
Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.
Super fast. I didn’t think the M1 chip would be this good but it is. This computer 8gb works like a 16gb. This was a great purchase.

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) review: Apple's most ambitious laptop yetThe new MacBook Pro M1 13-inch is a portable powerhouse aimed at creative professionals, with Apple's revolutionary M1 chip
A:AnswerFirst of all, the Macbook Pro has a touchbar right above the keyboard, that you can use to interact with whatever you have on the screen. The design of the laptop is also more square and sharp. It has a bigger battery, and unlike the Macbook Air, it has a fan. This means that the CPU will have a slightly higher clock speed (more performance). If you don't need higher performance or the touchbar the Air is probably a better choice.
A:AnswerIn terms of hardware, the Pro features an OLED touchbar at the top of its keyboard rather than a row of function keys. The Pro also comes with 8 GPU cores by default. The Air only has 7 GPU cores unless specially configured. The difference in cores should only have a small impact on graphics in most contexts.
Internally, the Pro has a fan that provides active cooling to the CPU and GPU cores, allowing it to sustain high levels of performance for longer than the Air. And although both are thin-and-light machines, the Air is going to be somewhat lighter. The Air's body has a wedge shape that helps it feel thinner. The Pro will feel a bit blockier, and its fan will create some noise when the system is dealing with heavy performance loads.
The Pro's screen maxes out at 500 nits of brightness, 25% brighter than the Air's, but both screens are similar in terms of color gamut and accuracy. The Pro has a larger battery, which should deliver longer endurance than the Air when performing similar tasks. Battery life for all machines like this will depend heavily on what they're being used for, however. If you're performing demanding tasks, it may be that the Air actually lasts a bit longer than the Pro, because the Air will throttle performance more. The Pro will engage its active fan to stay faster for longer.
Both computers run identical MacOS versions, so the only software differences will most likely relate to the OLED touchbar on the Pro. Software is used to configure what appears in the touchbar, while the Air always has the same set of hardware function keys at the top of its keyboard.
Overall, the Pro seems designed for people who want a thin-and-light machine that can tap into the best of its hardware performance for sustained periods of time. The Air makes a small sacrifice in sustained performance in exchange for an even thinner and lighter design along with silent operation at all times.
A:AnswerBought my wife a MacBook Air for school and it did her just fine. I bought MacBook Pro recently to stream. This thing is a work horse but it’s more powerful internally obviously. If you’re just gonna use it for school and music. Netflix. Etc etc grab the air. If you’re looking for more power then the pro is for you. Don’t forget to use your student discount.
A:AnswerBest Buy did match a lower price for me that was advertised on Amazon. You do need to first call the customer service number, though, so the representative can verify the lower price before you make your purchase. He/she will then send you a link to an adjusted price receipt and you can continue with your payment method.. Very smooth and easy process.
