Maiden is beyond incredible!!!! Exhilarating to watch Tracy Edwards and the all female crew competing in the Whitbread Round the World race. Dazzling, inspiring, riveting!
Nice story of gritty determination against almost overwhelming odds...especially since sexism was strong in those days. Especially liked the fact that participants are interviewed years later. It was great they got a rousing welcome. and apparently thesedays woman sailors are not unusual.
Two other points.
Don't expect super sharp blu ray quality. There was no such thing those days.
Second nit: ***SPOILER ALERT***
Although the ladies won leg 2 and 3 of the 5 legs they ddin't win the race. I didn't get how the winner was determined...not clear from the DVD
Nothing is perfect. Inevitably, there are a few nits to be picked and a few puzzling omissions. Otherwise, this film is wonderful. Very highly recommended.
