An excellent game for the entire family!
Posted .I just got done playing this very entertaining game with my family. From the first round all the way to the 4th or 5th we were having a blast competing over stars and trying to mess each other up. I haven't played a mario party game since the N64 games so you'll have to take that into account, but I know for a fact that this is a ton of fun with a group of 4 people. The best part is is that the mini games are fun but easy to learn so anyone can play and have a blast. The only gripes I have are that without someone else to play with the game is a bit dull. Don't buy this if you're just planning on playing alone. Also, the game relies a bit too much on chance. I don't mind it too much, but when you are tearing it up in the mini games and you still lose because of landing on random events that take away half of your stars you feel a bit cheated. As long as you're not taking it too seriously you'll still have a blast playing with friends and family. The game looks great. How a mario game should look. You'll here a lot of the familiar tunes and character noises as well(for good and bad depending on who you are), and there's a lot of variety to the mini games. Not all of them are great, but there's enough to enjoy. If you are looking for a game to play with others then definitely give Mario Party 9 a shot.

Relationship destroyer
||Posted .The game is fun and brightly colored so it's great as a party game. If you are buying it for just one or two people..it's a little less enjoyable but still has a charm to it. You will however destroy friendships and relationships playing this. When someone crushes your almost ensured victory, you will hate them...a lot.

Still Fun but Not the Best Mario Party
||Posted .This game is still a lot of fun, but in my family it is always a fight over who gets to play as bowser. That and everyone being stuck together causes some issues with gameplay. Overall though still a very decent and fun game to play.

This is a different game than earlier versions
||Posted .There are some good new mini games, and involves a little more strategy than in prior versions. But luck also comes into play. It is also bad that you can lose half of your stars with only a couple turns remaining if you land on a Bowzer spot

More of the same, great for groups
||Posted .Yes it's just another Mario party game, lots of similarities. This one just gives you some new maps and different characters I believe. Great for groups of people. My kids love playing it with me. Great if you loved it's predecessors.

Dissapointment
Posted .My husband and I have Mario Party 8 and love playing it so we were excited to see that Mario Party 9 was available. We invited friends that also love Mario Party 8 over to play Mario Party 9 as soon as we got home. Mario Party 9 is a HUGE disappointment. It appears that they decided to make the game more childish. Instead of each person moving on their own you are all grouped into one ‘vehicle’ and take turns being the captain. The mini games are a chance occurrence instead of being at the end of each round. When you do come across a mini game, the captain gets to choose from three mini games so it is no longer random. They got rid of coins and candy and have replaced them with mini stars that you can collect at random if you are the captain at the time. Mini game winners are rewarded with stars as well. The objective of trying to obtain stars in Mario Party 8 is now gone and you just play through until the end of the path. Along the way they put ‘boss battles’ which are just your group playing a mini game against a ‘boss’. The only highlight of this game is that there are more mini game options and there are ways to just play the mini games as a party game setting. We wish that we could return this game and get our money back as it is a horrible diversion from the Mario Party line.

Great 4 younger kids
||Posted .Mario is great history, this was a great gift idea for Christmas . The kids played it so well. Not a complicated game to play at all.
