Season Five of the popular legal drama Matlock originally aired on NBC from the fall of 1990 through the spring of 1991. The season continued the adventures of Ben Matlock (Andy Griffith), a well-to-do, much in-demand defense attorney in Atlanta, Georgia who combined the deductive skills of a legal shark with a folksy, down-home southern charm. Season Five is the season that finds Matlock temporarily leaving Atlanta to make a series of trips to Los Angeles, California, where he defends a famous Hollywood actress, then ultimately gets (wrongly) charged with murder himself in the feature-length episode Nowhere to Turn, which originally aired as a "Matlock Movie Mystery." Regulars who appeared in this season alongside Griffith include Clarence Gilyard, Jr., Julie Sommars and Nancy Stafford. This box set features all 21 original Season Five episodes.
