    Tears clothing up

I bought this on sale from another vendor because of the sale price, took it back the next day. I followed the directions to a "T" and yet my socks and towels were getting the strings pulled at. You could see the runs in the towels. We had a little pile of strings when we folded the load after drying. You can tell it is hard on clothes just by watching it! We even tried the deep water setting to try and eliminate the problem. I really did want to like this washer. People often recommend Speed Queens. I went with a front loader from Frigidaire replacing my old frigidaire. Some people hate front loaders, but I have always had success with them. Some may say it's because our clothes and towels are in fact old that this Maytag tore them up. Well, I would rather have my fabrics last a few more months. I really felt like I had to walk on eggshells with this unit and was going to have to train everyone how to use it (Or walk on eggshells). If you buy this unit and it does the same things, return it immediately, don't wait. I have heard of stories of some vendors telling customers they are stuck with it only after having it a couple of days! P.S. The pic below only represents the threads pulled completely out of the fabric, the other items such as towels and socks have strings hanging out of them. Oh, and my front loader washes far better than this Maytag unit.

Terrible experience with Best Buy- not happy with

Either something is wrong with this machine or the new non-agitator HE washing machines are severely flawed. I can only get it to fill the tub when I put it on bulky sheets extreme soil in Coldwater. If you do a full load It does not agitate the clothes around with barely water on all of the other settings. I Had a terrible experience with trying to get somebody to come and look at it I was on the phone for two hours the first time and I was hung up on several times and I thought I had made an appointment and that was never made. Then another one was rescheduled without even asking us about it. My plan is to return the machine and get all of my money back and I’m going to buy a different washing machine which has an agitator at another store. This washing machine which is a Speed Queen, fills the tub each time and only takes half an hour to clean. This Maytag cannot possibly be efficient because it takes two hours to clean anything if you put it on the setting where the tub will actually get filled with water. Even on all of the other settings where it barely puts any water in it takes almost 2 hours to clean anything and it’s quite noisy. This has to be hard on the clothes. I like the large size of the tub and I like the glass see-through top I so wanted this machine to work but everything so far has been terrible. the worst was the experience with Best Buy. Who I have never purchased a major appliance from in the past. I wrote a more detailed review which is not been published and I’m wondering if this one is going to be published or if Best Buy will not print anything that criticizes them and the products. What I experienced with this purchase really should never happen to anyone- being hung up on multiple times, confusion, mixed stories, people coming to the house who have no idea how to install something so we had to pay a plumber $250 prior r to the dishwasher install which was supposed to be done on the same day as the washing machine. And then when we went to the store one of the supervisors was quite rude to myself and my father- this is just not acceptable. I read now that these new machines don’t put any water in due to regulations and people are actually putting extra water in themselves. Well I am not going to do that! I’m going to buy my Speed Queen- something which is comparable to and far better in quality than the GE profile that we had for 15 years before this Maytag. I was told to expect it to last 25 years with normal use. It’s a commercial machine but made also for homes. Yes you can still get a non HE washing machine thank god. I wish I had researched all of this in advance so I could have avoided all this stress and wasted time.

Hi Anon, The low water design is actually part of the washer design. You will need to adjust your loading, sorting and cycle selections to produce the best results. We would be happy to discuss these concerns with you, please send us your name, address, phone number along with the model and serial number to us at Maytag_Reviews@Maytag.com MaytagBrand

    Lousy Service from BEST BUY

On September 6, 2016 we purchased a Maytag 4.3 CF Top Load washer (Model MVWX655DW) and a Maytag 7.0 CF Electric Dryer (Model MEDX655DW) for what we thought a good arrangement at Best Buy. Best Buy delivery crew arrived on time on September 9,2016 and completed the installation of the Dryer to our satisfaction. However, we noticed that the washer was being delivered as an open box item. This became a more serious issue when the crew told us that they were unable to complete the installation because as an open box item a part missing (e.g. the hose for the evacuation of laundry water)! On closer inspection we also found out that the said washer was damaged as it carried several scratches on the sides and in the front that could be seen with naked eye. It was obvious that the delivery center had failed to send us a unit that met the requirements of what we had contracted for during our visit to the store. Indeed, when we were at the store shopping for the two items, we had noticed floor samples of the same model and make that were being discounted at 20% or even 30 % in some cases. We declined the option of buying any of these units and instead paid the price for the unit as advertised by Best Buy. Please note that this item was on sale in several stores of Houston at the same price and conditions but having been Best Buy customers for over 20 years in different US locations we decided to do our shopping at Best Buy. It seems we have made a mistake and our confidence in Best Buy has been badly shaken. We have been to the store and talked on line with several people of the customer service unit to understand what happened and why. Everybody at Best Buy has agreed with us that this was a deplorable incident and we were right in rejecting delivery. And yet as of now no one from Best Buy has contacted us to tell us when a replacement unit will be delivered to our house. Best Buy expands considerable effort, time and resources to maintain a certain image of itself in the public eye and makes claims that define its operations. I am afraid that these claims do not have any meaning any more for me because what has happened has seriously sapped my trust and confidence in Best Buy.

After 25 years, our Maytag washer stopped working. Wish I didn't have to let it go. Had a tough time deciding which machine to purchase as there were so many conflicting opinions. I knew I wanted to stick with a top loading machine to avoid having to bend over to get to the clothes. I like the look of the Bravos, especially the glass lid. Best Buy's sale price of $479 cinched the deal. The machine appears to do a good job of cleaning although may be a little tougher on clothes than our old machine. Not too crazy about the water saving feature of this machine. Clothes come out very wrinkled. I finding I have to iron my clothes more than with the older machine. I always program the extra rinse cycle to insure all the detergent is rinsed out. Another thing I don't like is the water drain hose. It is a cheap piece of plastic. Had I known they were going to replace my heavy duty hose with this "toy" I never would have let them remove mine when they took the old unit out. I need to replace it ASAP as I don't want to risk water damage from a leaking hose. I paid $30 for the steel hot and cold water hoses and then they use this piece of **it for the drain pipe. Really? On a positive note, the Best Buy Delivery Personal were very pleasant and efficient. They quickly removed the old unit before replacing the new one.

    What You Need To Know

    Posted
    jdog

PROS: -Huge capacity, anything will fit in this -Washes clothes thoroughly -Uses less water (maybe) -Uses less detergent -Spins clothes very well CONS: -Lid is locked most of operation, no ability to stop quickly or access to filling water -Cannot adjust water level -High tech, so more stuff to break -Possibly rougher on clothing -Lid makes contact with main control knob if you don't open it carefully... really? Poor design that will ultimately damage the control. NOTES- The thing you most importantly need to know is you cannot manually adjust the amount of water that your clothes will be washed in. The level is set by a sophisticated sensor system and if this is not working properly this washer will be useless. I suspect this is what has happened for many that gave bad reviews of this washer. I don't recommend adding large items with regular clothing as they tend to get stuck on top and don't agitate properly. If you're expecting this thing to behave like a conventional washer then buy something else that's not what it is. CYCLES: -Deep Water Wash: it is not, useless cycle -Bulky/Sheets: this will fill the tub all the way up and you should use this for any large items, even jackets -Hand Wash: fills the water level slightly higher than 'normal' but agitates the clothes less, more soaking -Normal: uses a reasonable amount of water and works fine -Extra Rinse: use this, you can use it on any cycle but you're not really saving much water

Read a lot of reviews about the HE washers not washing well, not getting all the clothes wet, or leaving residue behind after the rinse cycle. I haven’t experienced any of those issues. There are times when there are clothes not fully submerged but the bottom agitator pulls things down around and up and back down and so on. Hence, the HE. I’ve washed everything one typically washes in a family w kids and have had no problems. It cleans and it does it pretty quickly, opposite of reviews I read. It’s no louder than my previous washer, but makes different sounds than the the previous one. Again, different washing method. 2 things I’m not real pleased with; 1. When using hot water the steam comes out the back of the top and coats the area with the controls. I don’t see this causing any issues but makes keeping that area clean a pain. 2. The spin cycle leaves something to be desired. The clothes are much more damp than my previous washer. I’d much rather have an additional spin option instead of the additional rinse as my last washer did. Lastly, if you look at the whirlpool, Ge, and Maytag models at this price point, they are the same machines w different looks. I paid extra for the Maytag branded unit because I wanted the clear top. A month later I’m still looking in there and don’t regret it. If you don’t care, save the money and get the same unit by one of the others for less. Would have given 5 stars if spin was better but it’s sufficient.

Never washes well& water is too low. Clothes stink

So, we had an old-school Maytag washer with the typical center screw type agitator for over 20 years and it worked great until it started to overflow and flood my downstairs... SO, it was time for a new washer. So, at first I grabbed an LG front loader and for 3 days the wash came out super clean and smelling great until the button broke. So I took it back and decided to go back to a Maytag top-loader. Came home from Best Buy with this brand spanking new Maytag 4.3 and ever since i noticed that the water level is WAY too low to wash effectively. I started to watch it do it's work and noticed that the water level never rose above the clothes and the load just moved back and forth and never flipped over, never changed. I also noticed my clothes didn't smell good and some of my clothes actually smelled bad. Then today I watched the entire process during the initial wash cycle and I had it properly on BULK items for a comforter. I watched for 10 minutes while it just sloshed back and forth and never change from the way it was initially loaded. I watched the same seam on the comforter and the same piece of hair just never change. Then it spun. Then it did the same thing on the next time around... NOTHING! Absolutely not washing our clothes properly. Absolutely not working properly. If I was still in the 30 day return window I would have already returned it and went back to a front load LG For fresh smelling. clean clothes. *WHAT A REAL PIECE OF CRAP! What a waste of money. Ed

This washer is really cool ! I like it a lot. Lots of wash settings and is very large. Like being able to see inside the washer with the window on top. (wipe water spots off occasionally so view stays clear) It uses minimal water which is a very good thing. We have had it for about 4 months and use it for about 6 loads per week. Washes all the sheets from king size easily in one load. All our towels for the week in one load. Our queen size sleeping bag easily too in one load. Delicates cycle works very nice, even though it doesn't look or sound like it is being delicate, no problems at all with those items. Clothes are clean and don't tangle up like in a regular washer. It is noisy though. So my husband, who is so freakin'sensitive to any noises, sounds, this washer drives him nuts. Since it doesn't have the traditional agitator the way it cleans the clothes makes a kind of grrring sound as it turns the tub back and forth, that is not steady. I like it actually. However, the braking system for the spin cycle is a bit loud and very weird and sounds like something is very wrong. Called out service and he said all is right. So close the laundry door and turn up the tunes and all is good.
