Incredible quality, and lightness
|Posted .Beautiful, light, quality, excellent performance. MS has knocked this one out of the ballpark. I was at first concerned that the 4g/64g model would not be powerful enough to supply my needs, but it is fast and plays music and videos without stuttering. Now I am not the kind of user who has 12 tabs open, at the most 1 or two. But in testing it I opened a total of 8 tabs, and I felt that it was sufficiently snappy. I left MS for Apple products in 2001, but I am now coming back to MS.

The Perfect Travel Companion
Posted .2017 Surface Pro Owner Buys Surface Go As Companion Travel Device I have been using my Core M3, 4GB RAM, 128 GB storage Surface Pro for almost a year and NEVER feel wanting for more resources. With the Surface Dock I connect to all my peripherals ( 2 34" 4K monitors, laserjet printer, and high speed network connection with only the power connector. Windows 10 has been very stable and reliable and convinced me to evolve from a Apple-centric household to primarily Microsoft. The Surface devices are simply the right product (if premium hardware and pen-centric applications are important for your work / personal needs). The Surface Pen works really well for note-taking and journaling. The Apple pencil is too big and drew unwanted attention in professional group meetings. On week long trips, I travel with the Surface Pro and take the Surface Go as a companion device for use in coffee shops, and journaling in front of the TV. One Note and the Surface Pen have made transitioning to an all-digital content solution easy. I wanted an Every Day Carry (EDC) device that integrated seamlessly with my current investment in Surface products and peripherals. The 4GB Surface Go is the perfect device to carry in a small backpack and excels at being the perfect size for taking meeting notes and journaling throughout the day. It also works well as a media consumption device (use mobile phone as 4G hotspot) or store content on multiple Micro SD cards.. One Note's ability to sync content across multiple platforms allows one to work with the Microsoft Office suite across Mac and Windows devices fluidly. Using a nice sized Micros SD card to store all created content ensures there is plenty of space on the native device storage for applications and the Windows O/S. When you first get the unit, perform all the updates to the O/S BEFORE you start evaluating performance and general operations. Otherwise you may incorrectly believe the device is slower than it actually is. When traveling cross country or internationally, having the right technology to fit the task is essential and the Surface Go is powerful and flexible enough to be the right product for the job. Update: I carry a USB-C slim powerbank in-lieu of the provided power adapter in my EDC backpack and appreciate having extra on-the-go emergency recharging power if I need it for one or more personal devices (Surface Go, Mobile Phone, Bluetooth headphones, etc.) Thanks Microsoft

Love it!
|Posted .This is a pretty great upgrade from my laptop! Love using the Note app with my Surface pen! Can't wait to buy the keyboard! The only thing I have to say is that the screen keyboard should be improved, it doesn't always show when I press a text entry box, have to pull it up from the taskbar. Other than that! Love that it's not too small, and it's light, was planning on buying the Surface Pro but glad I waited! This one is more affordable and travel friendly!

Q: QuestionWhy is this cheaper than the surface pro core i5
Asked by Jim.
- A:Answer It is cheaper than the Surface Pro because of many factors. For one, the processor is a lot slower than the i5 (phenomenally slower than the more-expensive Core i7), and the Pentium included with the Surface Go is a dual-core CPU, while the Surface Pro has a quad-core CPU. Also, this model uses eMMC storage, which compared to the speed of an SSD, like that of the higher model Go and both Pro models, is like comparing a hard drive to a USB flash drive. In short, the storage in the Go is slower than the Pro. Also, this Surface Go model comes with 4GB or RAM, and I believe the Surface Pro includes either 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB of RAM. Another factor is screen size. With the screen being smaller, you end up using a lot less material when building the device, unlike the larger Surface Pro. The resolution of the Surface Pro is also higher than that of the Surface Go. The last big difference I noticed is the battery. The Pro boasts a 13.5 hour battery life, while the Go sits at a not-bad-but-not-as-good-as-the-Surface-Pro 9 hour battery life.

Q: QuestionHow many gb would you recommend for me? I am a college student and will be using this primarily for my course work and notes. Would like the cheaper route with the 64 gb but will spend more if I have to!
Asked by Hali.
- A:Answer Purchased it for the same purpose. I would get the base model, with cloud storage and it has a USB C port so you could get a USB C flash drive it’s a waste in my opinion to spend more.

Q: QuestionI plan on using this device for OneNote and possibly a few YouTube videos. Would the 64GB model be good for those uses? I already have a laptop so this would be used to take notes in class and will be used as a secondary device.
Asked by Matthew.
- A:Answer The Surface Go is a fantastic tool for students. Able to carry on-the-go from class to class, this is the perfect note-taking companion. When you're ready to unwind, the Surface Go is great for streaming your favorite videos from anywhere!

Q: QuestionCan you run google chrome on the surface go? That’s what my daughter uses for all her school work.
Asked by Saralee.
- A:Answer out of the box, the Surface Go comes with Windows 10 S mode. The catch with S mode is that it can only run Windows Store Apps. Similar to Apple IOS apps can only run App Store Apps. However, the Surface Go can be converted to Windows 10 Home Edition at no cost and at that point will function like a regular Windows computer and allow you to install any application that you can on a traditional Windows computer, including Chrome.
Answered by RobR
Q: QuestionDoes the surface go come with a keyboard?
Asked by keyboard1.
- A:Answer THE KEYBOARD IS A SEPARATE PURCHASE. Depending on your use, a pen OR a mouse will suffice.
Answered by Martin
Q: QuestionCould I play video games like sims 4 on this?
Asked by Krystina.
- A:Answer Yes, you will be able to successfully play games like this one, as long as the specs of the Surface Go meet the system requirements of the games you wish to download. Make sure before downloading any game that this is the case for optimal performance.
Answered by MicrosoftOutreachTeam
Q: QuestionWill this be compatible with the online schooling platform Blackboard Collaborate? Thank you!
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The Surface Go should be able to run Blackboard Collaborate just fine. Just double check that the program you are downloading from their site is compatible with the specs of the Surface Go which for this model are an Intel Pentium Gold processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
