Customers praise the Surface Go Type Cover's keyboard quality, ease of use, and lightweight, compact design, finding it ideal for portability. Many appreciate its ability to protect the Surface Go. However, some customers feel the price is relatively high.
I bought this to complement a Surface Go I recently bought, and cannot say enough good things about it. I am still evaluating the Surface Go itself and can't say it's as good as my iPad Pro 10.5", but I CAN definitively say this Microsoft keyboard is vastly superior to the iPad's more expensive and less capable one. Note that the iPad's keyboard has no trackpad, and you can't use a mouse with it. This keyboard has keys with excellent travel, decently spaced considering its size, and a wonderful trackpad that rivals Apple's. I have never seen a Windows trackpad that could compete with an Apple one for smoothness and precision, but this one does. The left-click feel and pointer precision and speed were perfect out of the box, and I didn't have to make any adjustment at all. This keyboard also has a lighted Caps lock button and adjustable backlighting, unlike the portable Apple keyboard for the iPad, and soft felt-like palm rests. It clasps magnetically to the Surface in a very similar way that the iPad does to its keyboard, which also serves as the power connection, so no batteries are needed, nor does it ever need to be charged. The keyboard also lays flat against the Surface's screen and magnetically clasps to the frame. Overall thickness and weight between the iPad Pro and the Surface Go with keyboards attached are very similar, though the iPad tablet is about 2mm thinner than the Surface tablet itself. The iPad keyboard itself is smaller and narrower when set up, though Apple chose to also use the keyboard as a stand for the iPad, which adds some bulk when you fold it to stow - whereas the Surface keyboard is entirely flat, since MS built the stand into the Surface itself rather than the keyboard. End result is the Surface keyboard is much larger and more usable than the iPad's, includes a trackpad and more keys, yet is less bulky and takes up no more space when stowed. I can say this keyboard/trackpad makes the Surface go very usable as a laptop if you're sitting at a desk in a hotel, and makes using applications such as Excel and Powerpoint much more usable and easy to manipulate than they are on an iPad. If you want a portable computer that's easy to tote and very usable as a PC when traveling, the Surface series with an MS Surface keyboard is the way to go. It also has a full set of function keys, as well as keys for brightness, sound, etc., which the iPad's doesn't. See photos - Surface on left.

Size and weight are great for travel and ease of use.

The keypad functions as a keyboard as well as a protective cover. Because of this it is quite useful. Using it is much more useful than the touch screen capability. I enjoy this facet.
