I had many high expectations for this product, yet somehow this managed to exceed every one of them! This is the definition of a refined product. Rather than trying some new design from Surface Pro 4 to this 2017 Surface Pro, MS just worked on perfecting the Surface Pro 4 which yielded this version. I was so impressed I decided to get the pen as well (which I didn't think I would) to see if that would also exceed my expectation, and yep, it did! The screen is beautiful, battery life perfect, speed excellent, ease of use is through the roof! Easy, fast, simple, and it will make you more productive than any other product!! I use this primarily as a student and a little with my work. The skin I have is a dbrand carbon fiber skin. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a laptop or a tablet (or both obviously) and would not recommend this to anyone looking to game (a true gamer does not mobile game he uses a desktop with the latest nvidia graphics card in SLI-anyone looking to game on a laptop is a disgrace and I ask you to stop reading my review). Of all the surface pro configurations this will be the best configuration for most users as the fanless i5 has the best battery life and you don't need an i7 for laptop/tablet purposes-it would just be a waste of money. 128gb ssd is the best b/c any higher is just more money, and why in gods name do you need more storage on a laptop in 2018? Use the cloud people! 8GB ram is the sweet spot. 4GB is unacceptable and it's sad MS even offers that. 16gb is overkill for laptop/tablet functions in MOST cases. If you're an extreme video editor on the go then go 16, otherwise 8gb is perfect with room to spare :). Of course the other reason to go with this configuration is the great sale best buy has! 799 is a steal of a deal, I would have easily paid triple for this had I known just how great it is before. This is the laptop to end all laptops.

The surface pro 2 bundle (12.5", Core i5, 8GB ram, 128GB SSD w/Platinum Type Cover) was already a great value but with the sale price just barely above the upgraded Surface Go, it was a no brainer. The upgraded type cover is soft and inviting, unlike previously owned laptops with aluminum chassis. Windows 10 runs smoothly on it and the battery life has so far been great. Getting set up was easy and the touch screen so far has been responsive and precise. My biggest complaint would be that if you're using this in your lap, the stand may be a bit harsh on the legs but the laptop is overall so light that it's not too bad. I also feel like the internal SSD is overpriced. There should not be such a premium for more SSD storage these days. I appreciate having the option to add an SD card but why not start at 256GB internal? It's also certainly not a gaming or high performance machine but as an everyday laptop, especially for students, it is a wonderful alternative to the currently outdated MacBook air and the regular sales make it even more appealing.
