Superb computing device!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is not a laptop computer nor is it a tablet, but it replaces both in a very satisfying way! With sixteen GB of RAM, it does photo processing with ease, which is one of my principal uses for it. I am older and my only complaint is the small screen: My older eyes would appreciate a larger viewing area. I must say however that the screen clarity and resolution pretty much makes up for the small size. The pen is very good doing photo manipulation and is handy for quick note taking using anything one has on the screen and your own annotations. I can do anything on this machine which I previously did on my full-size laptop computer, and more but do not feel compromised doing so. The keyboard is great, which surprised me. It is small enough to use comfortably as a tablet and I do so in the evenings. It is quiet and does not get too warm. The battery life is remarkable, though not as good (13.5 hours) as Microsoft touts. I get an honest 9 to 10 hours depending on what I am doing. Learning to use Windows was a took a bit of time as I am a long time Linux user. I still badly miss some Linux features and could put Linux on the machine, but then I would miss some nice Microsoft features. Fortunately, I can still use all of my old Open Source favorites: Digikam, GIMP, Libre office suite and others. My one gripe is that the unit only has one USB 3.0 port. I would like to see a couple of USB-C ports added. Overall I would say this device is great and I have never been a fan of anything "Microsoft." Good job with this one.

Amazing hybrid. Get power for heavy processing.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from an ancient Sony Vaio which was small and awesome for it's time, this was a very fun upgrade. I love the tablet/pc feel as it is very easy to use either mode. Touchpad great for me. Not mac great but very usable. The pen great when wanted but not required to do normal touch with fingers. Thus you can leave pen packed up if you plan to do normal web surfing and typing. On screen keyboard doesn't cover whole screen so using it and scrolling page with finger natural when you just want tablet and are not in situation to set up the laptop on some table/stand. Love the arc mouse but again not required since touchpad great. I got the top of the line i7 with 16gb ram and bigger hard drive since I like to convert music, reencoding it and video. Battery serves my normal daily amount, hours of heavy use. Black is totally gorgeous. I'm heeding warnings that it can scuff, so I got nice case for situations I will be packing it up and moving it with other items stacked in some backpack. I hope it holds up over time but will update review if it doesn't.

Surface Pro 6; Best option yet for 3D modeling OTG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Surface Pro 6 as a way to work on the go. I was wary of buying one at first because my work is very graphically taxing, using apps such as Zbrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop and Blender along with a few others, and all of the reviews had mentioned that the Surface Pro line last year (2018) all used the Intel UHD 620 graphics chips. This seemed like the surface line was not really geared toward my line of work, and granted, it really isn't. That didn't stop me from trying and testing out a few of the models on the floor though, and when I finally bought one to fully test its limits, I have to say I was completely blown away by the power of this little 2-in-1 device. Everything I threw at it worked like a charm, and I am now able to work anywhere, which is amazing and would have been unheard of 5 or 6 years ago in my line of work. Do take note however, that this (SP6, i7, 16GB) is NOT a gaming 2-in-1 PC. The graphics card does not do well in most modern games, though if you're willing to tweak settings and play at lower resolutions, you can get somewhere between 25 - 30 FPS in some older games. Games like Stardew Valley and CIV, and others that are more CPU heavy run spectacularly though. I also bought all three accessories to go with my surface purchase, but after a few days I found myself plugging in a full size keyboard and 30 button mouse to get my work done. It looks a little awkward at first, but once you realize that this 2-in-1 has not only the ability, but the power to run everything you plug in, and most desktop programs with ease, I found myself not even caring how awkward it looks. I can get my work done outside of the house! It's a truly refreshing feeling. And so, here is the pro and con breakdown. Pros: * Quiet, quiet, quiet. Even the one with the fan! There is a bit of noise when the CPU gets a workout, but nothing that has ever made me have to turn up the volume to hear a video, game or a TV. * Lightweight. I had the very first Surface Pro, and that thing was as light as a brick. The SP6 feels more along the lines of a clipboard. * Battery life. I run very taxing programs, but I've been able to tweak power saving and performance to get about 5 to 6 hours out of the SP6 while using CPU and GPU heavy programs, and about 8 to 10 hours with internet browsing and movie watching. * The screen. The screen is beautiful, the resolution is lovely to use with Photoshop and it's the perfect size for texturing, sculpting, and vertex modeling. * Full USB-A 3.0 port. I love that there's a full USB port on the surface, and every hub I've thrown at it works flawlessly. * Build quality. This thing is beautiful, and every component of it feels solid and sturdy. Cons: * The price. The cheapest SP6 is $899, and the most expensive is $2,599! I knew I needed the most horsepower I could get, so I opted for the Surface with the i7, 16GB of RAM with the 512GB SSD for $1899, not a small amount by any means. * The GPU. At the price point these are set to, you'd think you would be getting a 2-in-1 that can do it all, especially when there are other laptops out there that DO offer everything at an equal or lower cost than the SP line. * No USB-C? This isn't a con by me, because I don't use anything that has USB-C, but others generally find it odd that it isn't there for future proofing such an expensive device. Would I recommend the Surface Pro 6 to artists, game developers and 3D modelers who want an otg option? Yes! (But use a PC with a better gpu for rendering and gameplay) Would I recommend this to people who want a device to watch videos, read books and browse the web? Yes, but there are much cheaper options out there as well. Would I recommend this to those who want to play games on the go? Not so much.

Mighty Powerful!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an awesome laptop that is fast, crisp images, and handles multiple programs/websites simultaneously like a champ. Its simply a great computer for a college student, lightweight and powerful. We bought it during a back to school promotion and got a great bundled price. Originally, I purchased a Mac Book Pro but found it too cumbersome and I returned it for this. I wish I had bought one for me.

This little old lady loves her Surface Pro 6
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Surface Pro 6 after some review of its pros and cons. I'm not a geek; I qualify as a little old lady, but I do have an appreciation of good tech. I've enjoyed this hybrid so far although the learning curve has been greater than I expected. I've had tablets and laptops but the hybrid aspects bring a bit of a challenge. I will say that the set up was a breeze as the instructions were unambiguous. I did need expert assistance to set up my email accounts because the gmail wouldn't sync. This appears to be a common problem but Geek Squad easily worked it out. Not sure if that's a general problem with Windows 10 or the Surface itself. I have only one major complaint so far about the Surface and I'd say it's a personal preference. I do not like the virtual keyboard at all. I've easily used others on various tablets, but this one is awkward as far as I'm concerned. I recommend using the attachable keyboard with the tablet mode engaged. I use the touch screen for everything except writing. This has been a satisfactory resolution. I'll add that the attachable keyboard is quite comfortable. I had been concerned that it might be too compact for comfort. The Surface is far faster than my internet and the memory is extensive for my purposes. The SD card option for increasing memory is super! The portability is amazing and it seems pretty sturdy although for this price it'll be in a protective case when I'm traveling. I'm pleased with my purchase.

Meh...
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I'm biased since I've been using apple computers for about a decade and my company forced me to windows. I liked the idea of a mutli-use laptop that could travel, be a tablet, disconnect the keyboard, and all of that fun stuff but in the end I felt like this just fell short in so many places. 1. The keyboard has a lot of flex so and is loud if you are trying to do any sort of major typing. 2. The kickstand works great if you are in an office at a desk but what happens if you are at the airport and want to support it on your lap? Or a tiny little armchair table? Since the keyboard and kickstand all must have support underneath the required footprint from the device is actually fairly large and annoying in some traveling situations. 3. I bought the top spec model to try and run what I had been running on my Mac and this did disappoint. Try running 2 4k monitors through the surface doc (which says it should be able to do)... can't do it. External monitor's are a joke with a surface. Need more than one usb at a time? Dongle. Want screen realestate? Sorry, huge bezels. Want usb C? Sorry. Want Thunderbolt? Sorry. After a year of use it was blue screening like crazy, crashing all the time to the point that I did a complete wipe and reinstalled the operating system... and then gave it to a coworker to deal with. Oh yeah, and the black finish is like you spray painted your car. Its not anodized aluminum. No, its just paint, that chips very easily, that shows a white primer underneath, that just makes the device look cheap.

Great Computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband loves his Surface Pro 6! He loves the versatility, compact form, light weight. The computer functions beautifully. The keyboard is a nicer fabric than the original Surface had. Also, battery life is great. The stylus works well. It would be nice if it was offered in a slightly larger size and if it had more than 1 USB port.

Q: QuestionWhat version of Windows comes with Surface Pro 6?
Asked by MicrosoftOutreachTeam.
- A:Answer Home. Why? To charge you another $100 more for Pro which the Surface has always came with. Same idea as the stylus, that's now extra also. Before long, $100 extra for the power button. That's a LOT of extra income for MS from the working world. If it doesn't come with Pro Windows it should be called Surface Home or Surface Play, not Surface Pro. Pro should also have a dGPU (discrete graphics processing unit) for "pro"fessional work such as 3ds max, maya, fusion 360, solidworks, Adobe illustrator, photoshop etc. You'll have to deal with non pro integrated 620 gpu or get a different device. Pro should be 14" 15" display max... but not with the bulky keyboard as the Surface Book 2, but the ultra thin detachable keyboard like the current just sized up accordingly with numpad and keep the kickstand also and include the stylus as before... but longer and works better than the Apple Pencil. And last and not least.... drumroll.... usb-c!!!!! My goodness? Now that's a Surface "Pro"... with Windows 10 "Pro" (no cloud OS!) of course! : /

Q: Questionwhats the warranty on the surface pro 6?

Q: QuestionWhat is the processor in the Surface Pro 6?
Asked by MicrosoftOutreachTeam.
- A:Answer Also, there is supposedly a BUSINESS option with Windows 10 "PRO" with Core i5-8350U quad-core. The 8350U would be the MUCH better choice than the the 8250U as it benchmarks are on par almost with the i7 8650U. So if your looking for better CPU performance and possibly better battery life and a lot less money than a i7, then the i5-8350 may be for you. But might as well get a i7 8650U if you need a bit more cpu power than the typical Office suite only user. I.e. graphics such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDraw etc. The integrated 620 gpu won't get you blazing fast update rates with 3d software such as 3dsmax, maya, fusion 360, solidworks, etc, but it may get you by in a pinch or for simpler work since no discrete gpu such as gtx 1050, 1060, 1070 etc. You'd need Surface Book 2 for that. (Or wait for newer models). Overall, the better the cpu, the better off you'll be even with substandard 620 iGPU if not your daily driver.
