Microsoft - Xbox One Titanfall Bundle

I have been a console gamer all of my life and have owned both Playstation and Xbox brand consoles and loved them equally. Not wanting to dump a grand into purchasing both a XBOne and PS4 I chose to invest in the One due to exclusives. So far the console has met all my expectations with only a few minor hiccups. Based on about two months of use, I can say that the controller is the most comfortable Xbox controller to date. It doesnt feel bulky and based on the subtle changes like the tops of the analog sticks, clearly the controller was designed endure a bit more normal wear and tear than its predessessors. Titanfall is the first must-play game for any multiplayer enthusiasts this generation. It has very fluid gameplay and seemlessly integrates the transition between playing as a foot soldier and piloting the titans. It is very balanced and feels like a cross betwen halo and call of duty mechanics. Be warned though, there is no single player campaign. This is a multiplayer game ONLY. I have only a few gripes about the console. If buying this bundle, based on your internet speed, be prepared to wait roughly an hour after set up to play titanfall as it takes this long to download and install the included digital copy of the game. Also, simple tasks like playing a blu ray or a music cd are impossible until you download the apps to run them. I believe these are basic functions that should be available upon purchase and that is my biggest gripe. Overall I feel very happy with my purchase. The XBone definitely has hit a few stumbles up to this point but it is still an infant in this console cycle. It has plenty of room to grow and will exceed all of our expectations in the coming years.

First, I have owned a XBOX360 since it was released in 2005 and enjoy it immensely....but I'm not platform dependent. I have also owned a PS3 since it was released. Second, due to the way the spokesperson (Adam Orth) treated gamers I had NO interest in getting an XBone until much later. I did (barely) manage to get a PS4 on release. So, I was fine with my PS4 until my son, who did get an XBone, started playing Titanfall. I'm a sucker for anything with Mech's in it. The gameplay seemed good and controls easy...THEN Best Buy put the Titanfall XBone bundle on sale for $449.00. Since I had my Gamer discount and lot's of certificates I could use I wound up getting for less than half that. Rushed home and set it up....and here's my review: The XBOX ONE (XBone) is one of the 3 'Next Gen' consoles out currently. The other two consoles are the PS4 and WII-U. Microsoft has styled it in a glossy squarish box that shows fingerprints better than NCIS. The unit is quiet in operation though. They also stepped the DVD player from the 360 up to a Blu-Ray player. Design is good BUT I do NOT LIKE that you HAVE to HAVE the Kinect hooked up for the system to work. So after a few days of playing...here's the rest of the review. The OS is god awful mix of X360 and Windows 8...(sigh)...confusing and NOT intuitive (even though MS says this is the best out there). It looks just enough like the 360's main menu that you can select the wrong pane by habit. I give the OS a 5.0...blah... So far all the titles I've bought have taken HOURS to update. I literally hooked the game up around 1pm and couldn't play anything till around 4pm (NOTE: This also includes the console update too). This is not exclusive to the XBone. The WII-U took just as long to download and setup. The controllers are VERY nice. They don't have any extra functions like the PS4 ones do, but, they seem very solid and well built. I like that the buttons are 'clicky' and not mushy. The joysticks are precise as well. The games (Ghost and Titanfall) are NOT full HD. Pretty sure they're BARELY HD...(792 resolution)....they look good but I expected more from these 'hext gen' games/consoles. Some release day games ran in HD but it seems nutty that the most popular ones don't. (?!?!??!) One thing the XBone has over the PS4 (and this can be good OR bad) is the integration of gaming/social media/cable/satelite/DVR..etc. Microsoft wants to be the hub for anything connected to your TV. There's also may uses for the Kinect with both voice and gesture control. WARNING!!! I get HUGE LAUGHS by walking by my son's closed bedroom door and yelling "XBOX...OFF!"....and hearing him saying "NoooOOoooooo!!!" If I had to choose which console I wanted RIGHT NOW the PS4 would edge it out...BUT...Microsoft has lot's of developers and lot's of money. I think by the summer we'll be swimming in FULL HD games for both consoles. I like to just chuck a disk in and play a game (which is how the PS4 wants to be used) not navigate through several panes while yelling and gesturing like I have Turrets......but YMMV!! Since neither the PS4 or XBone is backward compatible....you can choose which one you want to play going forward. About the only factor that could lead you one way or the other is the exclusive content that one has over the other. For example, right now XBone has Titanfall and PS4 has Infamous: Second Son. All in all you can't go wrong going either way. The XBone has lot's of features and really works well with everything plugged in as a "Media Home" kind of appliance....

I had an xbox 360 and played a ton of different games, but now that i bought an xbox one I guess being an early adopter has its drawbacks. I bought the Titanfall bundle and it's great that I get a $60 game thrown in on a $500+ purchase (pretty much why I decided to buy)..because I think every system sold should at least come with 1 game, but I am not thrilled with the game overall. For a 1st person shooter it is pretty cool, but their is barely any story /single player mode, so really the game seems the same every time you play random kill everything battles over and over and over. Also I think all these systems (not just xbox) should come with 2 controllers standard as they used to so you can play friends and family in games and not have to shell out more $ just to play against someone. Kinect and voice controls work well, but the oneguide doesn't mimic my cable box guide...it says I can choose to tune to a channel, but it doesn't access guide data and show me what's on at that time ?? (maybe I don't know how to do that yet?). Overall I'm glad I got a good deal one the system and I hope it gets better, but hold off until it drops in price or more games come out for it...and Microsoft I hope your listening...B

My brother and I have demanding jobs and live in opposite sides of the state. I don't see him often and on launch I went with the Xbox One and he went with the PS4. He was complaining that his system is collecting dust due to the lack of games for the PS4 so I surprised him with this bundle. The set up was quick but then again he wired the system. Then it was time for some Titanfall and he loved it. A couple of days later we talked on X-live and he told me that the last time he played a game for 4 hours in a row was when Fallout 3 came out. He was very grateful about the gift and told me how surprised he was with the improvement of the kinect. The voice commands worked for him but he did mentioned that he had some trouble with movement commands. I do too at times as well....hope that they get it fixed soon. I also let him borrowed Dead Rising 3 and even though he has enjoyed it he said that he spent most of his free time playing Titanfall. Bestbuy has been great, I bought this bundle at full price and I returned to ask for a refund now that they are on sale. They didn't blink an eye and put $50 back on my credit card! Love the deal and the bundle. However, please note that if you don't have a x-live account then you must buy a x-live card to play Titanfall. It may be a little steep since the cards are $60 for a year if you buy it in the store but worth every penny.

This was a great deal at $450 for the entire Xbox One console and Titanfall bundled together. Titanfall is easily the best and most addictive multiplayer FPS to date. While other online shooters (Call of Duty, Battlefield) became repetitive and overplayed, Titanfall is a huge breath of fresh air. With many large detailed maps, new mobility features that makes any part of the map accessible and in-play, and of course the impressive Titans, game play online is somewhat familiar yet entirely different and so much fun. Looking back at the older shooters, they feel slow and limited. Playing a Titanfall match is like being part of a big battle with computer controlled grunts battling each other. While it does feel like half a game without single player or coop, new updates are being to the game and on top of that I basically got this game for free in this bundle. The console itself is beautiful yet large, almost demanding to be the center of attention in the living room. Kinect works surprisingly well at recognizing my face and logging me in, hearing and accurately processing voice commands, and displaying great video quality during Skype video calls. Using hand motions to control the console is sorta awkward but even that is actually useful enough to replace the controller at times. It takes some learning to get used to the voice commands as Kinect requires certain keywords or phrases. Also, the Xbox home interface takes a little time finding where everything is located (e.g. Settings can sometimes only be found by hitting the "Start" button on the controller while at the Home screen...). But overall it looks and feels smooth. Watching TV using the Xbox One is actually really practical with the voice commands ("Xbox Watch ESPN", "Xbox What's on Cartoon Network"). It even comes with its own TV guide ("OneGuide") that can be navigated using voice or controller. Although you can fast-forward or rewind the TV content, it doesn't seem to be able to record episodes like a DVR. Xbox One just seems to be teeming with features that still surprise me to this day as I discover them ("Xbox On" command will turn on the console, TV and cable box all at once automatically). I definitely recommend this console easily to any Xbox fan or any gamer both serious and casual. With many practical functions other than just gaming, this console may always be on in my living room.

I feel like the Xbox is this generation's PS3. It's the clear underdog, but hopefully it will pick up traction over it's life. I picked it up for exclusives - Titanfall is very satisfying, and I look forward to finishing off the Halo series. And I'm sure it's prettier on PS4, but my brother picked up AC:Black Flag, and it's one of the most awesome looking games I've seen (being a fan of the ocean and ye olden ships). The console itself? It's not bad. Took me a while (and I'm still not fully used to) the new UI. Navigating around menus is not very satisfying, and doing silly things like comparing my achievements to my friends seems way more difficult than it ought to be - I couldn't even explain it right now, since I can't remember how I did it the one time. Some of that is alleviated by simply saying "Xbox [say thing you want]." It doesn't matter what I'm up to, I can just say "Xbox Go To Titanfall" and bam, I'm there. That part works pretty good. However a lot of stuff I say, when perhaps trying random stuff, generally ends up trying to launch some aspect of TV, haha. And even though it is likely way easier to just push the button on either the console or hold the guide button on the controller, I (and my brothers alike) all still seem to prefer "Xbox Turn Off -- Yes." I guess we're either strange or just prefer living in "THE FUTURE!" Other nice bits. The system has a "Quick Start" feature which leaves the system in a low-power state. This is what leaves the Kinect on, letting you say "Xbox On" to power the system. It's a bit more than that though; this lets the system keep the game you most recently played in memory, so launching Titanfall right after turning on the system takes seconds, start to finish. Would probably be faster but my TV takes a minute to start (which it does by itself, since my Xbox turns on the TV and Cable box when it powers on). Also, the auto-sign in system is neat. The Kinect sees you sit down, and welcomes you. Neat. Creepy. Neat. That, and it starts to recognize YOUR voice. While I was playing, my brother yelled "Xbox record that!" saving the last 30 seconds of what I did - it recognized HIS voice, and recorded the clip under HIS account. We've done this to each other a few times, ha. Still, at this point, I plan on picking up a Destiny PS4 Bundle, and getting most games for that system when the time comes. There's a bit of time from here till then, though, so we'll see how it goes!

I've owned the PS4 since launch and feel it is a technically more powerful gaming machine than the Xbox One. But titanfall just looked too good to pass up so I bought the bundle. I'll be using the PS4 for all my single player games and the Xbox One for gaming with my friends. Titanfall is awesome and although I'm not a big fan of Kinect, it is much improved. It's a very quiet system too. With $60 in game savings and $40 of reward certificates, I paid the same price as my PS4. Too bad it's such a monster compared to the PS4. It's not as easy to transport due to its size, weight and huge power supply. Still it's a good deal. Typically I don't like playing online with anyone other than my friends but titanfall makes it easy and fun to team up with others.

First off, I was going to hold off on purchasing this until the inevitable price drop down the road. $500 is too much for a console these days. However, I couldn't pass on the Titanfall bundle when it went on sale. That being said, after playing the console, I would've definitely waited until a price drop and not have purchased it at the $500 price. I'm not saying it is a bad console, but there was nothing that really made me go "wow" yet. You get a bump in the graphics and some cool Kinect features, but it's basically a beefed up Xbox 360. If you use the TV stuff and have it act as your main media hub, then it gets some extra points there. I used my DirecTV through it for a little bit to try out, but I ended up disconnecting it due to some lack of features. You can't access your DVR and the voice commands are very inconsistent when trying to change channels and find programs. Also, trying to teach non-gamers in the household how to watch TV through it is not the easiest either. I know game installs are the new thing now and help speed things up, but it takes awhile to transfer from the game disc, and they take up a big chunk of hard drive space. The hard drive is pretty sizable, but just like the Xbox 360, you're going to need more space sooner than later, especially if you use the other hard drive space eating features, like saving game video and storing movies (and now they're pushing out massive size game updates, Dead Rising 3 had a 13GB update!). Being an Xbox 360 guy, I like the console overall, and I know it takes a year or so to really start showing off the potential of a console. Getting this over the PS4 was a no-brainer mainly due to carrying over my gamerscore (some people don't care about that, and if you don't, maybe consider the PS4, mainly for price). Currently the game selection is lacking, but once the heavy hitters start making sequels on next-gen, things should be all good. Bottom line: I say wait on a price drop for the console, but if you don't care about that and you are an Xbox guy, it's worth it.
