First of all- I am obsessed with pens. I was born this way so don’t judge me.... I love the older livescribe pens so I really looked forward to trying this out. Love the journal, love the pen, no problems connecting to my phone or saving my work. I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a little techy version of longhand writing. Great to have access to your notes anywhere, anytime!

I originally saw this product in an airport bookstore and was excited after all this was from Moleskin! i decide to research it and purchased it on my return. The pen is a knock off of the Livescribe pens but has no recording capability on board the pen itself. You can link the pen to Evernote. The Moleskin pen basically only allows you to share completed static pages with others. You cannot capture audio and pen action and share this with others who do not have the pen. There is no free app. The pen cap is cheap and ill-fitting. It reminds me of the cap on a bic pen. There is no case for the pen so be careful you don't lose the cap or the pen. The set comes with the pen and a tiny notebook with a cheap elastic strap. The strap lost its elasticity within one week of use. Very disappointing. If you are looking for a quality product which will allow you to capture audio and pen action and which will allow you to share your work with others then you will be disappointed. I encourage you to look at the Livescribe pens. In my opinion the Echo is a far superior product well worth the price.

However, some users have concerns about the accuracy of the handwriting recognition feature and the reliability of the pen syncing with their iPhones. Additionally, a few customers mentioned that the product is a bit pricey.
