This 3rd season of Mom is funny just like the first two. But finally the series recognizes that its topics, additions of all kinds -- alcohol, drug and gambling -- have tragic consequences which can't be laughed off. To the credit of the writing and the acting performances, the interjection of tragedy into this comedic series works. The tragic isn't trivialize and the humor lives on.
