Great handset, priced right
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never spend a lot on common technology products. Okay, so I have lots of money tied up in DSLR bodies and lenses, but that's a hobby :) The Moto G5 Plus 64GB is the most I have spent on a phone since I had a bag phone in the 1990s. Having nearly pure stock Nougat baked into the ROM makes the phone a joy to use. I don't game save for logic puzzles, so video viewing is the heaviest use the phone will see. I have viewed full HD video on the phone, and it performs flawlessly. Battery life is far better than any other handset I own save for an old LG unit where the battery takes up nearly the entire back of the phone. Three updates arrived yesterday(as of posting time stamp) and I hope that the 6 month call errata has been addressed. Still waiting on Oreo. The updates were stability and security issues related. I'm quite impatient when it comes to tech. products being ready for interaction(I have an i7 6700K PC W/ 1TB SSD) and this little handset does not disappoint. I have paid for perhaps 100 apps, but use only half that many, so I have used hardly any space to this point. I have 48 GB free. I also inserted a 256 GB micro-SD card for audiobooks, pictures and off-line dictionary files. For me, the phone has massive amounts of storage. In handling, the apps open up quickly, the split screen works as Google intended, and the phone always seems to have extra RAM available for additional tasks should I need to call on them. Lots of people buy phones for their camera capabilities. I am not one of those people. I have found the camera to be merely capable, rather than stellar. However, there are NO cell phone cameras that I find stellar, so this is not a dig at the phone's capability as a shooter. Its low light deficiencies are real, but lots of users will never notice this. I would expand on this, but far more capable professional reviewers have done so. Unknowing friends and family believe my G5 Plus to be a premium phone. I think it is the metal case, fingerprint sensor, fast near-stock Android, and my customizations. For me, the G5 Plus is as premium as I need, and better than expected. The G5 Plus is a great 'bargain' phone. I'm getting my mom one for the holidays. I ULed a screenshot of my phone.I use NovaLauncher for lots of reasons, including installing the displayed Funkong Icon package and Wave Live wallpaper.

As great as a $800 phone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just love this phone! I want to point out that my previous phones have been the Samsung S1, S3 and the S5. I don’t MISS them at all!!! I love stock android; with the right app launcher your app drawer is so customizable. I use Apex. I like the fact that the buttons are all on one side, to me it is easier to use and easier to handle. The swipe feature for the home button is great! It took a bit to get used to, but I like it. Swipe left to return swipe right to open up current apps that are open or you can close them. One thing I discovered is that if you drag all the open apps down a text shows to clear all without having to close them out independently or swiping to the left or right to get rid of them. Opening your phone from lock screen with fingerprint is awesome. I like the fact I can use this with certain apps without having to put in usernames, passwords and any other security info it needed. This phone is not a resource hog like my Samsungs were. The android system barely uses much space where my Samsung android (with Samsung features) sucked up a lot of space. I only had 16GB on the Samsung and was slowly running out of room on the S5 that I had. The Moto that I have has 64GB I have way more apps on it and I have tons of room left. Watching Netflix on it streams great. No issues. I am not a gamer so I can’t say how that works. The camera so far is far better than my Galaxy S5, a much clearer picture and with so many camera settings. This phone was an unlocked phone, so you can bring it basically to any carrier, I was surprised to see how many there were. I have my own number and used AT&T compatible SIM card on Net10. Set up took only 5 minutes! I was amazed on how seamlessly it went. Everything transferred over fast! I did all this on my own, on line on Net10s site, and I didn’t have to contact support at Net10 at all.

Good phone, nice features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a new phone for work and spent a lot of time researching low-, mid-, and high-end phones. The Moto G is a definite upgrade from my Sony Xperia Z1, which I had for several years. I needed a phone that could run my productivity apps with ease, and the Moto G does that. The pictures are nice–the zoom is certainly better!–though there is slight distortion toward the edges. The camera is easily accessible and responsive, which is a big plus when you need a quick picture. I was able to get some landscape shots from the opposite side of the car as we drove through Wyoming on a family road trip, and the pics came out much better than my Sony's photos in a similar setup. The phone gets a little warm but doesn't get hot like the Sony, and the battery life is a huge improvement. Even with heavy use on the trip, I didn't need to charge ít until close to the end of the day, and that was with the phone's GPS running most of the time and apps active. It's also my first phone with a fingerprint reader, and it seems to work well, though almost too well at times! Three weeks in, and I'm pretty pleased with this purchase.

Q: QuestionDoes the Best Buy version of this Motorola phone make you endure offers like the Amazon version at the same price point? Thanks.
Asked by Jerry.
- A:Answer The one at Best Buy is as if you were buying it straight from Motorola. No Amazon offers to deal with. The only way you get the annoying Amazon Offers is if you buy that version on Amazon at their discounted price.
Answered by UniQLoki
Q: Questionhow much of the 64gb is available?
Asked by sethauto.
- A:Answer Mine shows the operating system taking 10.29 GB. Installed pps take another 3 GB or so. Total available is about 51 GB

Q: QuestionWould this phone be an upgrade from the 2015 x pure edition? I have the x pure and am thinking of buying this phone but only if it's better than what I currently have.
Asked by Rockstar.
- A:Answer Battery life is likely a bit better than the Moto X Pure, and the new Moto G5+ has an octa core processor. Is it an upgrade? Debatable. The G5+ is going to get OS updates longer than the Moto X from 2015, for sure. Not sure if that alone is worth it, but I think if you look at the whole package, buying is the right thing to do, unless you can wait for the next Moto X.

Q: QuestionI heard this phone has call quality problems (choppy calls) on the Verizon Network ? Have you heard anything on that?
Asked by Hank.
- A:Answer Yes, and it is easily fixed by disabling Enhanced LTE in the network settings.

Q: QuestionDoes this Moto G Plus just have a single sim? Some unlocked international phones have dual sim capability which is nice for keeping US and international accounts separate.
Asked by VW49.
- A:Answer Single sim only for US model

Q: QuestionAlmost bought Motorola G 5 plus unlocked but read online about many problems w/WiFi dropouts, full Verizon functionality & other issues. Are those problems resoved & fully function on Prepaid? Any 64g (prefered) devices without bloatware you can recommend
Asked by Ethereal1.
- A:Answer Hello.I have used this on both the Verizon and the T mobile network. I had zero issues on the Verizon network with wifi calls dropping out, and no voice quality issues. when I went to T mobile, however, initially I had no dropped calls, but after 3 weeks i did have issues with wifi drop outs. I only have this issue at home the phone has issues with transition between wifi and cellular calls ( at least my phone does)

Q: QuestionHow do you transfer the data from my Moto E phone to this Moto G5 plus? I don't have a separate sim card.
Asked by Suzieree.
- A:Answer Go into "Settings" then "Backup and Reset" on your G4 and ensure the "Back up my data" is "On." If not, turn it on and establish a backup account on Google. Your phone info will then be backed up to the Google "cloud" and can be brought over to your G5 during setup. I am not sure what the lag time is between setting up a new account and allowing sufficient time for your data to be backed up--might want to give it a day or two. If you have a SDC (mini-memory card) installed in your G4, make sure you "unmount" your SDC card from your G4 before you transfer it and your SIM card to your G5. Go to "Settings" and then select "Storage." Your SDC card will be at the bottom of the section. You should be able to "unmount" it there. Hope this helps.
