Great Phone. Minor changes would make it the best.
||Posted .Had been a loyal Samsung phone customer, Rugby II flip phone, S2 and S4. The S4 cratered and even ate the replacement battery when I tried to reach the end of my contract period with Sprint. Read about and now believe that software upgrades to Android ruin battery life and charge cycle time. The Moto X has excellent charge life and the turbo charger really works well. Minor gripes are as follows: (1) the virtual buttons at the bottom of the screen need to be configurable. The back button (triangle) is at the bottom left and needs to be at the bottom right for right handers. (2) Limited accessories like rubberized cases that protect the rim of the phone when dropped. (3) Swiping open the phone automatically opens to the phone from the left bottom corner, home page in the middle and camera from the right bottom corner. This is kinda dumb. Just open the phone to home page. (4) Limited availability as I had to drive to Ft Worth from Dallas to buy one. The major benefits of the Moto X Pure are: excellent camera, no bloat ware, not too big like the Note Series from Samsumg, amazing screen image quality, affordable to buy outright, unlocked for all networks and more. If you are not a lobotomized Apple-Samsung customer, this phone is worth buying. I would have considered the Sony Xperia series but they are less available than the Moto X.

Best phone at current price point
||Posted .I've had the Motorola X Pure Edition for a month or so now. I also purchases 2 different protective cases, one being the Unicorn Beetle case by Supcase, which is a great case for those interested. The phone has great screen and resolution. The front facing speakers are the best I have heard to date. I also have a HTC One with front speakers, there is no comparison, the Moto is far superior. Comparing the phone to my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the price for the S7 simply isn't worth it when comparing the two phones as daily drivers. There isn't much difference in the speed between the two, though the s7 is slightly faster. The screens are great on both, the s7 has better colors or maybe I should say more vibrant or saturated colors. The cameras...the moto has superior image quality in bright light conditions at higher resolution, but the s7 is the clear winner on speed and low light photos. I can say that if you're looking for a great phone at an affordable price and not having an IR blaster and finger print reader isn't you're a deal breaker, then this is the phone to get. I love it and find myself using it as much as do my Samsung S7 Edge. Hoope this review helps you decide.

Excellent Phone and App Platform. A Good Value.
||Posted .This is a very capable phone with plenty of power to run even demanding apps smoothly. I definitely would put it in a class with phones costing as much as twice its price in terms of its price in terms of its competency as an app platform, especially with the Marshmallow update, which allows finer control over app permissions. I routinely use this phone for GPS navigation using TomTom Go, and it runs the app smoothly and without excessive heat. In fact, it's run every app I've thrown at it without complaint. In terms of running apps, it's the best phone I've ever owned. Part of the reason for its competence at running apps is that being factory unlocked, the Moto X Pure Edition isn't infested with resource-wasting and often-unstable carrier crapware, spyware, or modifications. (Hence the name "Pure Edition.") It has a few useful Motorola apps, but nothing else aside from what's included in a stock Android installation. I have only three criticisms of this phone: Firstly, the WiFi loses its connection at times when idle. It gets it back right away, but it's still mildly annoying. It never happens during a download, suggesting that the problem may be an idle power-management bug of some sort. Secondly, the sound quality on voice is good, but not excellent. The people I call say it sounds crystal-clear, but the clarity on my end is merely adequate. I can understand them, but it's not as rich as I would like. Thirdly, for some bizarre reason, the message-waiting indicator LED is not enabled. It's there, but I haven't found a way to activate it without rooting the phone, which I don't want to do because it might void the warranty. (There's also less reason to root a phone running Marshmallow because of the better permissions control that helps tame nosy apps.) Speaking of rooting, if that what you want to do, Motorola makes it easy with this phone: You ask, they give you the code, and that's that. It likely will void your warranty, but at least they allow you to do it if that's what you want. Motorola also offers better support than most manufacturers. You can actually call them and talk to a real person, and most of them are pretty useful. In summary, I'm glad I bought this phone. The few quirks mentioned above are more than compensated for by the phone's overall stability and its power to run the apps that I need smoothly and without complaint. I'd definitely buy it again. Overall, it performs as well as any phone I've ever used.

Awesome Phone
||Posted .I have been a long time Apple iPhone fan, when looking at phones one of my goals was to purchase the phone without the need to renew my wireless carrier contract and not spending over $600. I wanted a phone that I could travel with by buying a SIM in country and be able to move it between carriers. I was looking at mainly Motorola phones and was down to the Nexus or the Moto X Pure. I visited the Motorola booth at VMworld 2015 in San Francisco and they showed me a pre-release Moto X Pure, I was sold. I really liked the overall look and feel of the phone, it does not feel like some of the other Andriod phones that are mostly plastic. One features I like the most is the Micro SD expansion slot, currently it supports up to 128GB. I ended up purchasing the 16GB model, which had some negative reviews for lack of space to install apps, but with a high speed Micro SD card and Marshmallow (Android 6) that will no longer matter. The battery life is good, it's fast and best of all it works for what I need it to do. I am very happy with my Moto X Pure and have recommended it to my friends and co-workers.

$400 buys a lot...
Posted .This phone is big, beautiful, and the sound is terrific. PROS: *Screen is vivid and sharp but not too saturated which is a nice balance. *Speakers are loud enough and clear. Media sounds great. Front-facing speakers are a MUST for a phone. *Camera is an upgrade from past Motorola phones. Takes fantastic images in good lighting. Certainly a step up from my Nexus 5. *Battery last me all day and then some. (I am not a "power" user.) *Motorola’s fast charging is extremely fast. I’d say it is scary fast. *Connects to my LG G Watch and actually syncs with it BETTER than my old Nexus 5 did. *Moto’s custom software (Moto Voice, Display, etc.) work great. They are actually useful. *Near stock Android. Probably will be one of the first devices to upgrade to Marshmallow. *SD Card support! This is a MUST HAVE. I have downloaded several playlists from Google Play Music and stored them on the SD card. Awesome! Streaming is an option of course, but playing locally via the SD card is an absolute perfect user experience. The SD card storage will be integrated with the on-board storage when Marshmallow is released to make it seamless so use a class 10 or better card. *Motorola’s legendary mobile radio tech. Puts other radios (Samsung) to shame. I get signal where I normally wouldn’t. *Android has obviously been optimized by Motorola. Example: My old Nexus 5 would hammer my mobile radio when it had poor signal. Why Google, why? This would cause severe battery drain. I would loose 5% on my Nexus 5 just driving to work. The Motorola doesn’t hammer the mobile radio. Still at 100% when I get to work. Perfect! CONS: *No wireless charging. I really miss this feature. *Worried about heat generated from fast charging. Heat + Electronics = Hardware Failures (over time) *Not many cases available for it at the moment. *16 GB version only has a few GB’s left for apps. Marshmallow will take care of this when it is upgraded. (See PRO comment above on SD Card) A word about Verizon activation: If you have an existing (already active) nano-sim from Verizon, just pop it in and fire up the phone. It will work. Go on about your merry way. If you are a NEW Verizon customer, take your Moto x Pure phone into a store. Have them activate a nano-sim on another phone for you (display model) then pop it into your Moto X Pure. Verizon will eventually support this model however it will take several months (knowing Verizon). Just do what I recommended above and be happy with your new phone.

Moto has been on a Roll
||Posted .This isn't my first Moto X. Before this I had the LG V10 phone. Love the V10 but it's pretty heavy and before that, I had the 2nd Gen Moto X (2014) and I'm very impress with the near stock Android experience. It's the same experience with the Moto X (2015) I brought this a few weeks ago and instantly, Moto had an update to Android Marshmallow 6.0. This phone is fast. Zero lag, very responsive and great battery life. A few improvement over the 2nd Gen model: 1) You can add a microSD card. I currently have the 200GB card in there and it's reading 183GB available. I believe Motorola understated the specs a bit and say it you can add an 128GB microSD card. 2) Bigger screen, slightly bigger body. It's a nice 5.7" LCD screen. It's plenty bring. Motorola manage to keep it roughly the same size as the previous Moto X which is a good thing. This keeps weight down and feels right for one handed us. 3) Battery light has improved. It's now using a 3000mAH battery. I typically can get a day use of out it. Mileage will vary. 4) Much better camera but still could use some improvement. Comparing the camera to the V10, this was a bit of a let down. It does produce nice crisp image when there are plenty of light or natural night. Night time or dark is horrible. You will notice a lot of noise when shooting in the dark or very little light. But hey, that's why I have a DSLR. The camera sensor is in the Moto X 2015 is from Sony. 5) Price. This is the cheapest flagship phone from Motorola. You still get the excellent build quality and all the good features from other flagship phone. Tho this phone is a year behind now, it still holds up. It has the same processor as the V10, same amount of ram as most flagship phone at 3GB and has a very nice screen for the price. Overall this phone is great. If you're looking for a backup phone or a phone to replace, the Moto X is the way to go. We'll see what the future hold for the 2016 Moto X (that's if Lenovo decide to keep the X around.)

Excellent Android phone
||Posted .At $239 this phone is pretty hard to beat. It is unlocked and will work any carrier. Not sure about verizon though. Either way I would recommend buying a sim card from best buy if you are a sprint customer, sprint stores did not have the right sim card in stock at any of the stores I tried picking one up from. So I had to run back to best buy and spend $10 on one. No biggie. The phone runs buttery smooth, and is pretty close to a stock Android experience, this phone has a SD card slot and Android 6.0 will format it as internal memory if you choose to! Meaning you can get a 16gb model and pop in a 32 or 64gb card and instantly have more space for your apps and media. The LCD screen is nice and crisp, It has nice vibrant colors for an LCD screen. My only complaints are the lack of a fingerprint sensor and the stock camera app can be annoying. It's too bad Google removed their camera app from the play store. All in all, for under $300 this phone is great. I would recommend it if you are on a budget and are looking for a decent phone.

Best overall phone I ever had
||Posted .Love this phone. The Pure is everything I wanted in a phone. Stock Android, great speakers, fast charging, great display. I'm coming from a Lg g4 and feel this phone is better in ever way expect for the camera. Don't get me wrong the camera on here is still great. And once u consider the price compared to other flagship phone u can't beat it

Q: QuestionWhy does the description say no Verizon or Sprint? From Motorola website: Moto X Pure Edition is unlocked and works on on all major networks, which means you can always go with the plan and carrier that’s best for you. You can even switch carriers and take your phone with you. from Best Buy website: * Phone will not work with Sprint, Verizon, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile or any other CDMA carriers. They have specifically mentioned Verizon and sprint as being able to use this phone. What gives Best Buy??
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Moto X Pure edition does work with Verizon and Sprint. We are working on changing this information.

Q: QuestionArgentina NetworksDoes it work for Argentina networks? Trank you!
Asked by Daiana.
- A:Answer Not quite. This phone has only Band 4 of the two bands needed by 4G/LTE in Argentina: Bands 4&28. You will do fine in the city, but youll have only 3G in the country. For both bands look for Moto X Style - Mod. XT 1572, which is hard to find in the US and much more expensive.

Asked by HenceForth.
- A:Answer This phone is unlocked and is GSM and CDMA compatible (can be used with at&t, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint). Just depends on what carrier you take it to, and what service is available in your area. I took this phone to straight talk and it's being used on Verizon towers.
