Exceeding Expectations
|Posted .I've had the Moto Z2 Play for 2 weeks now and I'm extremely pleased with its performance, the elegant look and manageability of controls. This upgrade has features from my previous Motorola phones that are valuable and practical plus extras that upgrade to latest technology. From the battery life going beyond 24 hours without charging, to the sharp and clear sound when you are on a call, the camera with slow motion capture, etc.. I can use the plug-in earphones or the Bluetooth. It has easy access to front-face controls and the screen is big enough to display all my most-used apps. The hand wave to turn on and voice commands are two of my favorites. I believe I made the right selection with the help of the sales associate and paid a good price. It's not a flagship phone with a big tag, but it feels like one.

Good phone, great mods!

Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5I do a fair amount of camping and it's nice to be able to stream some Netflix at night when I'm suffering from insomnia. The projector mod makes this 100x nicer because instead of squinting at a tiny screen I'm laying back on my air mattress watching a 40+" screen. The phone itself is nothing to write home about. I use a Pixel 2 XL as my daily driver. But when I'm out and about I load up some stuff on the micro SD card and if I have lte where I'm camping I can stream all night if I feel like it. I appreciate Moto's very light Android customization.

Punches way above its weight
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendExcellent phone that would be a mistake to overlook. Screen: very good. Not quite as sharp as Samsung S7 or S8 but plenty good enough Speed - much better than I expected. Snapdragon 626 CPU and a clean version of Android go together like old friends. Everything is fluid and smooth, apps launch quickly, and no lag. Battery - insanely good. I'm regularly getting 2 work days out of this thing. And the charging speed is awesomely fast. 20 minutes of charging while in the shower and 15 minutes in the evening before bed is probably enough to keep the phone running forever. Looks - like a premium phone. Not cheap feeling at all. Camera - pretty good. Bright light shots are nice, if maybe a tad oversharpened. Low lights shots do get blurry/grainy but still useable. Software - awesome! The Moto actions are genuinely useful, Moto has the best driving mode on any platform, and the lack of a skin on Android is awesome! Other - the fingerprint sensor is super fast and the fingerprint sensor navigation should be on every phone Mods - surprisingly cool. The JBL speakers sound awesome, the battery mod easily makes a 3 day runtime, the style shells are very nice, and even the projector is pretty sweet. Negatives - not many. It is not waterproof. It is physically very large for the size of the screen, kind of an old-school design with large bezels. There aren't a ton of mods yet and the ones out there are kind of pricey. With last years S7 getting close to the Z2 Play in price some people might be tempted by the waterproof design and better camera of the Samsung. Overall, I'm super happy with the phone and would buy it again!

Fantastic!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis phone is simply outstanding! I got the unlocked version for a bargain $350. Don't be fooled by the very few negative comments ... I'm an avid cell phone fan and reviewer. I've had every notable flagship phone that's hit U.S. shores in 2017 (iPhone X, Note 8, S8, OP5, U11, Pixel 2XL, Essential) and I can tell you that this little gem has everything you're looking for! Pros: Excellent, fast octa-core processor, no lag at all even when playing top games. Coupled with 4gb RAM and stock android, this phone is as buttery smooth as any phone I've had this year!! The OnePlus 5 might be king, but... The Super AMOLED 5.5" display might only be 1920x1080 FHD, but you wouldn't know it. It is so pretty and looks amazing, you really have to see it to appreciate it. No it's not bezel-less, no phone really is BTW. It doesn't have an 18:9 aspect ratio, but that means nothing to me ... everyone is different. I'm a pretty heavy user, at times, and I have no trouble getting to the end of the day with plenty of juice left in the tank! It comes with Turbo charging, and it's actually quite fast - not as fast as the Dash Charge from OnePlus, but nothing is - It's fast! It's thin and lightweight, I got the maroon moto style shell for the back, which looks stunning! The Camera ... the biggest feature on a phone today. I don't do selfies, so no comment there. To put it honestly, it's a great camera. If you're looking for a class-leading camera, go spend some extra money on a Pixel 2 or an HTC U11, those are the cheapest best cameras out there. This z2 Play will go toe-to-toe with the OP5. My wife has a Pixel 2, and it's simply the best camera ever put on a phone. It's also a more expensive phone, so if that's an issue, trust me this camera will do the job. In daylight, it is sometimes as good as the pixel, and sometimes marginally worse. In lower light conditions, this camera does an admirable job. It won't beat one of the class leaders with OIS, but you'll be quite happy if you're not a Full Time photographer....it really has impressed me. Micro-SD card, expandable to 256gb - enough said, gotta love it! Fingerprint sensor on the front, where I personally prefer it to be - it's lightning fast and it's re-designed oval shape is so much better than the previous gen z-play. The moto mods are sweet, but other than the JBL speaker, they're not really my cup of tea... Cons: Software updates - Moto has a history with this, though I am on the November security patch, which is pretty good for Moto. It's running 7.1.1 - Oreo coming new year. Only bad I can think of. Bottom line, if you're on a budget or just don't want to spend $750-$1K, this phone should be top of your list. Great processor, display, battery, camera, SD Card storage, etc. It took me a long time to learn that to have a great phone experience, you need the basics + a great price - this phone proves you don't need to spend all your cash on a class leading phone when you can pay such a smaller price for Dang-Near-As-good as phone! Good luck!

1 Week in, SUPER happy
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is awesome! Battery life is incredible, nice big screen, and LOVE the fingerprint. The shake-for-flashlight is kinda nifty, as is the swing(?) for camera. So far nothing bad to say at all, other than the lack of (any) cases that will fit a mod (especially the battery). The closest you can get is a "bumper" - which currently I can only find for around $30.... But I'm sure in time that'll change too....

Best phone I've ever owned
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendComing from the Moto x pure edition, this is a substantial upgrade. Screen is great, battery life is unbelievable (with occasional charges in the car and in the morning, I haven seen it go below 70%), it's way faster than my old phone. I haven used Moto mods yet, but I intend to. The only downfall I can see is the lack of accessories for it. Had to go through Amazon for a screen protector.

Fast and great
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI came from an iPhone 6 to this phone and so far I am blown away. The phone is considered a mid range phone but everything about it feels high quality. It is very lightweight and thin but yet feels well built. It is very fast and has not had trouble doing anything so far. The camera is not extremely great but it is still very good. The Moto mods are a really cool feature as well and simple to use. Highly recommended phone.

Love this phone
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSo I came from an S8+ into the Z2 Play and let me say I love this phone. I thought i was going to feel the down grade from such a gorgeous phone, but with the exception of the infinity display, I havent felt the step down and infact Im loving several of the Moto Z2 plays features like chop for torch and flick wrist for camera. I also like the fingerprint scanner navigation option so i get full use of my screen. I read lots of people talking bad about the batter but i game consistently on this phone and make it through a full day no problem.
Q: QuestionI don't understand how this has 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, when Motorola says the Verizon edition will have 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. Is this a Best Buy exclusive or did Best Buy make a mistake in their listing?
Asked by Curious.
- A:Answer Best Buy made a mistake in the listing. It is the Verizon branded 32GB/3GB version of the phone.

Q: QuestionDoes Best Buy carry charger cables for the MOTOZ2 Play?
Asked by simonator.
- A:Answer It's a USB C connection that's been around for almost two years. While somewhat new, the cables are getting easier and cheaper to find. BB does carry them, but I'd just recommend shopping around. You'll find plenty of them.
