After a few months the "chrome" finish started flaking off, we started getting little bits of silver in our coffee. Next the end broke off the plastic pole that stops the lid from going all the way back. It was then the hinge breaking to the point where you have to lift the lid off completely, that finally made me stop using the coffee maker. And I do agree with what someone else said, the buttons do become sticky and hard to push. Pros of this coffee maker: a 4 hour shut off instead of a 2 hour shut off. being able to put in the dishwasher. I cannot say I would recommend this to a friend, but for myself, I do like the pros of this coffee maker and will be replacing mine with another.

I've owned several Mr Coffee coffee makers over the years, as well as other brands. One of the things I've never liked is how difficult it is to clean them. This Mr Coffee is mostly dishwashable, since you can take it apart and put most of the pieces in the dishwasher for easy cleaning (just not the base with the electronics and cord). This coffee maker also has a programmable timer, a reusable mesh coffee filter and a water filter (it comes with one filter cartridge, you have to purchase any future cartridges needed). It comes with a glass carafe and the burner stays on for 4 hours by default, though you can turn it off manually. As with all coffee makers, it makes good coffee once you get used to how much coffee and water works for you, since they're all slightly different.

If you are like me, you remember the face of Mr. Coffee was Joe Dimaggio. To this day, I not only think of this but also know that the Mr. Coffee brand represents a well made and unique coffee maker. I have or have had Mr. Coffee coffee pots, iced tea makers, and related accessories. All functioned well beyond what I had hoped was their life expectancy. This machine offers a solution to a problem that has bothered me for years about these kind of machines. The water fills in a tank. The tank heats and pumps water through the filter and coffee, down to the pot as a drip/flow until the pot is full. But in that tank can lurk germs/bacteria because it isn't getting clean, is dark and damp, and no way to clean it other thank vinegar which I don't think kills bacteria. This machine gives you the chance to clean the tank, pot, filter basket, etc. in the dishwasher. Or you can hand wish, it is very easy to clean. Restores my faith in drip coffee makers. I've been using a K-Cup machine for this very reason, but let's be honest, I really miss having fresh brewed coffee. This coffee maker has a clock, timer, auto-off after 4 hours, and up to 12 cups of coffee per brew. The cord manually can squeeze back into the hole in the back for neat storage. Comes with a reusable filter, and a water filter. Totally worth it, glad I got the chance to experience this and will be using this for years to come I'm sure!
