    Going to Church

Mr. Misunderstood is classic Eric Church... plenty of soul searching with a pinch of bad-assery. Church's music is authentic and honest - the kind you learn the lyrics to without even realizing it. He doesn't make 'anthem' country music. You can crank it up, but you can also just let it play in the background while having a beer and relaxing on the porch. This album is loaded with good tracks, though my least favorite is probably "Chattanooga Lucy", which seems a bit out of place in the flow. While 'Kill a Word' probably gets the most radio play and attention, I think 'Record Year' is probably one of the most refined and classic tracks. Mr. Misunderstood is, itself, a good song, as is 'Three Year Old'. If you know and like Eric Church, you'll love this album. But if you don't, this is as good a place as any to start.

This is a great album! I'd say it's Eric's second best album, closely behind "Chief." Songs 2 and 3 are probably the weakest songs on the album in my opinion. They are a bit more bluesy than his other work. Maybe because I am just not used to that style coming from Eric Church. Those two songs have grown on me however. The rest of the album is spectacular. My favorite songs are "Holdin' My Own", "Kill A Word", and "Record Year" in that order. Give this album a listen!

I purchased this CD expecting something similar to Chief of The Outsiders. Although initially disappointed, this CD has grown on me. The title track seems the most familiar compared to older CDs. Everything else is a little slower or softer compared to the previous releases, but it's a welcome evolution of Church's sound. Pick it up, give it a few solid listens, and enjoy some quality new country.

This man has yet to disappoint me with an album release. I now physically own one copy of every CD that Eric Church has made. He keeps evolving which each new record. But what I respect the most, is the passion that he brings. And also the excellent song writing/storytelling in which he continues to use in his music.

I purchased several cd's and when I received the Eric Church cd, the case was crushed...I took it to the store to exchange it and they said they didn't have any and were no longer carrying cd's. Disappointed

Eric Church is classified as a country artist but with this album as well as his last release he creates country/heartland rock hybrid at it's best. This is raw, pure, powerful music that feels authentic and cuts to the heart. Every Eric Church album is better than the last.

I enjoy Eric Church, and this album continues his maturation as an artist. If you're looking for a traditional country sound, you won't necessarily find it here. That being said, I've listened to it daily for the last couple of weeks. Only about 40 minutes long though.

What can I say about this top secret surprise CD release? Eric shocked his fans and country music with this release, a best kept secret release. The ten songs have great lyrics and special meaning. I highly recommend this to all Eric fans and country music fans.
