Have you ever wanted to love a movie, so much so that you literally hang on to every scene and joke, but they bever deliver resolve or a punchline? This truly must have been filler for animated releases that year, or a giant tax write off. As there's no explanation otherwise. Quite frankly this movie should have been a Rocky and Bullwinkle movie with this film edited down to the 20 mins of enjoyment and inserted like the iriginal cartoon did with episodes of Mr. Sherman and Peabody. Also very strange explanation as to why Sherman has no parents, why Mr. Peabody is a parent and why this has no place in the movie other than plot structure for sake of plot structure. Skip this and head over to Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragons 1 & 2 Collection now available on bestbuy.com, or even the Shrek collection and pass this by. I got a sale tag of $8 and still overpaid by $7 and bestbuy.com has the best price available so it's not for that reason.

Growing up I enjoyed the Peabody's Improbable History segments of the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. This film feels like a decent contemporary retooling of those segments, giving more depth to the titular characters, and granting the film a surprisingly touching emotional center. There are plenty of nods to the original shorts, and the cast delivers an excellent performance. The animation is top notch, exaggerated and comedic, albeit much more fluid and detailed than the shorts the film was inspired by. The special features on the disc are geared more toward the younger target audience of the film, but there are some of the original classic shorts included for the nostalgic. The picture quality and sound quality are awesome, crisp and vibrant. The film has unfortunately been overshadowed by some strong works among the animated studios this year, but is well worth a watch.

A Special Treat in the Deluxe Edition

Picked up the Deluxe version (can't go wrong for $17.99!) Others here have all commented on the film, but the Deluxe has a brand-new 10-minute Rocky & Bullwinkle feature. Animated in the same manner as the feature, this captured the feel of the old show better than than MR P&S. Great to see Boris & Natasha again. And the late June Foray voices Rocky one last time. As if that wasn't enough, it's also 3D too! Well-done and smiles all around. MR PEABODY & SHERMAN has exceptional 3D as well. If you have a 3D-capable set,.this edition is a no-brainer! And if you don't, buy it anyway because most likely your next set will have 3D and, until then, it also has the DVD and 2D BD. So you're covered both for now and for the future! Kudos to Dreamworks for assembling such a fine package

I haven't heard of this movie but remember these guys from my childhood. I bought this for my daughter who is just under 2 years old to keep her entertained when there is nothing else that will distract her from throwing a fit. Well, it is a little too advanced for her to understand but the interesting graphics and movements definitely keep her entertained for a little. What surprised me is that I actually thought this movie was great. The only reason why I can't give it 5 stars is because this is more advance for most kids under 7 so...it might not work for everyone you think it should. If you loved these guys in your childhood memories, you will most likely love this movie.

I'm not always the biggest fan of animated movies in general as most are aimed at young kids or are so full of music that I don't care to hear (i.e. Frozen... If I hear "Let It Go" one more time I might go insane). Mr Peabody was a fun movie, having grown up watching the Bullwinkle show and of course seeing the shorts of Mr Peabody during the various episodes it made it easy to relate to the characters. I also liked that you didn't have to be a child to enjoy the humor in the movie... sure there were some kid friendly references but most the humor wasn't so child aimed that adults wouldn't enjoy it as well. I can definitely recommend this movie for anyone and everyone!

Our family are avid 3D watchers, and have come to expect better than average movies if we're going to pay the extra price for 3D. Unexpectedly, this movie quickly moved into the top 5 spot in our collection, of which we have over 50 3D titles. The story was well-crafted, imaginative and written with humor for all ages without being overbearing. Even the bathroom humor wasn't pushed so far as to be tasteless. But without question, the 3D far exceeded what we'd expected. Perfect use of camera angles for the effects, and crisp depth and consistent throughout the entire film. This movie is well worth paying full price for.

We saw this in the theater and loved it. This blu-ray and DVD copy works well for us. We have one blu-ray player, where we keep that disk. The DVD can be used on any of our other devices, so that gives us the portability we like - especially on a trip. We do normally setup the digital copy, but have not yet on this movie, but I have never had issues doing that before, so should be okay. File copy makes it even more convenient for streaming. So the combo back is a winner for us. The movie is great for all ages too. It keeps the familiar theme from the old animated classic, but the 3d-like CG animation is great.

The TV series "Peabody's Improbable History" was always fun on the "Rocky & Bullwinkle Show," and this movie does the concept proud. The characters look and act the same way the TV versions did, only better. As you would expect, Mr. Peabody make's his historical puns and always has an answer to every problem, while Sherman is perfect proof that "Every dog should have a boy." The many historical characters that Peabody and Sherman meet during the movie also fit the pattern of the TV series, and Agamemnon turns out to be a pretty interesting character, too. This is just a really good, fun-to-watch movie.
