Synopsis

Mrs. Doubtfire
Robin Williams learns that keeping in touch with his children can be a drag in this hit comedy. Daniel Hillard (Williams) is an eccentric actor who specializes in dubbing voices for cartoon characters. Daniel is a kind man and a loving father, but he's a poor disciplinarian and a shaky role model. After throwing an elaborate and disastrous birthday party for his son, Daniel's wife Miranda (Sally Field) reaches the end of her patience and files for divorce. Daniel is heartbroken when Miranda is given custody of the children, and he's only allowed to visit them once a week. Determined to stay in contact with his kids, Daniel learns that Miranda is looking for a housekeeper, and with help from his brother Frank (Harvey Fierstein), a makeup artist, Daniel gets the job disguised as Mrs. Iphegenia Doubtfire, a stern but caring Scottish nanny. Daniel pulls off the ruse so well that neither his ex-wife nor his children recognize him, and in the process, he learns how to be the good parent he should have been all along. However, Daniel also has to deal with the little matter of Miranda's new boyfriend, Stu (Pierce Brosnan). ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

This is one of my favorite movies. Robin Williams was a great actor and is sorely missed. This is one of his best movies and his best roles. He goes beyond the role of a man playing dress-up and makes it seem like a real life event, that a man could be so desperate to spend time with his family, that he would actually "become a woman" which shows how dynamic an actor Robin Williams truly was. The other actors, Sally Fields especially, also bring their own talents to the movie to make everything come together in a solid and funny, with bits of drama without being preachy or overbearing, that makes this a great movie.

I really like this movie and bought it because of that. I wanted to add it to our collection. Don't know if you can find it online or if so how long it will be available so I recommend buying it and any other titles you really like and want to see again because they may not always be available streaming. Streaming is great but many things aren't offered and the ones that are maybe for a limited time..

Mrs Doubtfire is a movie about a father who loves his kids, yet does not have the best relationship with ex-wife resulting in very limited time with kids. Without providing too many details this movie takes you into the effort, love and sacrifice a father goes through to see his kids more often. This movie is a great family movie which stars Mr Robin Willis who was one of the smartest, most creative and loving mind in a long time. Definitely a must have for your collection.

Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) is no ordinary father, so when he learns his ex-wife (Sally Field) needs a housekeeper, he applies for the job. With the perfect wig, a little makeup and a dress for all occasions, he becomes Mrs. Doubtfire, a devoted British nanny who is hired on the spot. Free to be the "woman" he never knew he could be, the disguised Daniel creates a whole new life with his entire family.

If you haven't seen Robin Williams' performance as Mrs. Doutfire, then you're probably either a kid, or you live under a rock. This is one of Williams' best performances, and it'll have you laughing, crying, and celebrating as he struggles to find a way to remain in his children's life. A must-see for children and adults alike--I've watched this movie at least 5 times and it's just as magical and great as the first time I saw it!

This is hands down one if my favorite comedy films from Robin Williams and overall one of my favorites. It really showcases Robin Williams talent for acting as well as showcasing his ability to play different characters. For its time the make up was really well done and everytime I watch it I still can't believe it's Robin Williams it really at times feels like your watching a different actor at time. Great film and must have for anyone.

My 6 year old granddaughter was asking about this movie because classmates had told her about it. Had a difficult time finding in the blu ray version. Best Buy to the rescue. She loves the movie - "It was a drive by fruiting" is one of her favorite parts. Thanks Best Buy!

So Robin Williams character is a father separated from his children due to a divorce. His wife is played by Sally Field. What a pairing! Great casting. The antics Robin resorts to simply to be near his children is hilarious to watch and heart wrenching at the same time. This is a great family movie in my opinion. I loved the story line that shows how fathers love their children just as much as some moms.
