I've had my GE66 Raider for a few days now and have been loving it. The long and short of this review is: The product is pretty much perfect and delivers everything advertised, with the main hang-up being the price. Pros: - Most beautiful laptop I have ever seen, especially at night. If exterior design is important to you, and you're a fan of bright neon lights (like I am!), I don't think there's a better laptop on the market. Just look at the picture! Captivating colors in front and all over the keyboard, perfect for late-night gaming and useage. The silver backplate with the metallic dragon shield is super cool, too, giving this laptop a spectacular look all-around. - Aside from fan issues (noted below), this laptop runs games at high settings with a spectacular framerate. Even at max graphical settings, the benchmark test in Civilization VI (which simulates a HUGE game to test your hardware) never dips below 80 FPS, while early game you'll actually max out your frames. Not that this is the game where you'll most want those extra frames... but it's the one I play most, anyway. - Just super duper quick all around. With the SSD plus 32 GB(!) of RAM, everything runs fast and flawlessly. I have yet to experience any kind of slowdown whatsoever due to RAM usage, which I'm pretty sure will be the case for anyone with such a high amount. I've never had a laptop so quick and seamless at all times like this. - 1 TB of space on the SSD is the perfect amount for a laptop. Remember that a lot of that space gets eaten up by the OS, which is why I personally find 512 to be way too low. My previous laptop was 512, and it didn't take long at all to fill it up (and I don't even install a whole lot of games). - Lots of different ports for folks who need 'em. Personally I find the SD card slot useful for transferring the screenshots and videos from my Nintendo Switch (you'll need a MicroSD adapter to do that). Cons: - Despite purchasing it, I feel this laptop is priced a bit too high. There's a GE75 Raider model also by MSI with all the same specs for the same price, except it has a 300 Hz screen instead of 240. I still chose this one because I preferred the 15.6" screen size and the other one was sold out on Best Buy's website (pretty much ever since it was listed), but there are certainly better "bangs for your buck" out there. This was the main reason I removed a star. - In regards to the front LED, which is the defining feature of the laptop's design, there is an internal white/miscolored piece near the touchpad that obfuscates the lighting in that area. It's minimal, but once you notice it your eyes will be drawn to it every time, which unfortunately takes away from the beauty of it. - The fans can get loud when games eat up a lot of memory. This can be reduced by turning down graphical settings, but if you're paying for that RTX 2070 SUPER, don't you want to put it to use? - Sometimes audio can be on the quieter side. I've noticed this especially in Discord calls with certain soft-speaking users, who I could hear fine without maxing out my audio on my previous laptop. However, as I've done few Discord calls so far and haven't made too much of a concentrated effort yet to adjust the audio settings, I can't say for certain whether this is unsolvable or not (but certainly not through checking all the "obvious" settings). So altogether, if you're willing to shell out $2,199.99 plus tax for this model, you'll most likely be very happy with what it has to offer. Just do your research first and be certain that it's the model you REALLY want. Personally, for me, I feel that it was, but shop around and find out what's right for you. As far as the laptop delivering on what's advertised, it absolutely does.

This is the best laptop in it's price range. Keyboard is clicky with good travel. The fans keep it cool especially with cooler boost on. Battery life seems better than the i5-1065g1 in the laptop I returned that claimed 8.5 hours and was only 4 tops. I would expect over 6 hours with light use and battery saver turned on, just beware that battery saver makes it slow down a lot. The screen is bright and no dead pixels. Backlight bleed is minimal in the bottom corners, nothing to be concerned about. Colors are accurate and 240hz 1080p is great on a 15.6 inch screen. Trackpad is good and clicky. Build quality is very good , aluminum screen lid and keyboard deck. Upgradable ram and extra nvme slot. Per key rgb is fun to play with and set up for games, as well as the led light strip in the front. Very fast GPU, full powered Nvidia RTX 2070 super max-p which allows for overclocking, but it's not needed yet as this handles any game available right now. The temps are great. It's faster than to rtx 2080 max-q so avoid that one. The GPU clocks higher than the standard rtx 2070 laptops out there, so don't believe some of the videos on YouTube that claim it runs the same as the standard rtx 2070. I don't use RTX ray tracing in games, but if you want it for that, you might want to wait for the 3000 series to be available around January 2021. I wanted a super powerful laptop now and this is it. It out preformed my GTX 1080 on my desktop so I have confidence it will be future proof for at least the next 4-6 years. By then, I expect streaming of online gaming to be the replacement and, any laptop will work at that time. If you want a powerful well built machine now, the buy this while they are available. They sell out fast. I first purchased the hp omen with ryzen 7 and 1660ti, the ryzen is more powerful with its 8 cores 16 threads as this has intel i7 with 6 cores 12 threads, but the 1660ti is no match for the RTX 2070 super max-p. Just buy it already.

I am a cybersecurity engineer student and I was looking for a powerful laptop for my last semester of school. I needed a laptop with a strong CPU since I need to run multiple Virtual Machines for software testing and System Penetration. I also needed plenty of Ram to share with my virtual machine and still have my Host OS running smoothly. Thermals on the laptop are surprisingly very good, Before underbolting the CPU 100Mv the CPU was reaching temps of around 70-80c under stress. Which is not bad given you have 2070 Super 115w. After underbolting the CPU Temps hover around 40c-84c pushing the cpu to its max running 2 virtual machines along with the host OS with some tools in the background. While gaming the temperatures managed to stay pretty cool after underbolting. The fans do kick on and they can be kinda loud but, its to be expected with such powerful components. Screen- I am not a big fan of the screen. Coming from a Macbook Pro the screen does not look as sharp or bright. Also, the colors are not as accurate as the macbook. I would rate the screen 6-7 out of 10. But again this is not a creators laptop its a gamers laptop. In the department the screen is responsive and feels buttery smooth! Keyboard and Trackpad- Coming from the Macbook Trackpad. I would say the trackpad on this laptop is 7 or 8. It's not as big as the macbook but, it feels smooth and responsive. It's not a glass trackpad but, its feels very smooth while using it. The keyboard I absolutely love! The keys feel nice to type on. Wish there was a little bit more travel but overall I like it better than the Macbook Pro Magic keyboard on the Macbook Pro! Speakers- They are garbage to be honest. They sound terrible but, since i always have my noise cancelling earphone on, this is not a deal breaker for me. If you're looking for a laptop with great speakers.. Do not buy this rig,, I repeat DO NOT buy this rig, Battery i would say its a solid 5-6 Hours. Which it doesnt sound like its a lot but, considering the components this laptop packs it's actually pretty impressive. ] Wifi6- Superfast! I can get 700Mps download speed on wifi. It also offers a good range since its wifi 6. The new more expensive MacBook doesn't even offer wifi 6. My thoughts- The Build quality of the laptop is not Macbook Like BUT, it feels very solid. No flex while pressing on the keyboard. Very little or no flex at the screen. The laptop is a little bit on the heavy side but, I like it because it feels rogged. If you're looking for a Great Gaming PC that is also a very capable machine to run virtualization software, coding or video edeting(Using a nicer monitor i recommend). This is the laptop. Its a very powerful laptop even though the i7 is not the most powerful out out there but, that is ok because it also doesnt run super hot. I recommend underbolting the machine and disabling turbo mode when no extra performance is needed. You will gain more battery life and the machine will run quieter and cooler. If you can't decide to go with this or a Macbook... Ditch the Macbook overpriced and not very good thermals. This rig is way better!

Customers enjoy the GE66 10SFS gaming laptop's impressive performance and high-quality graphics, praising its build quality and ample RAM. However, some users note that the fan noise can be loud, and the speakers could be improved. While the weight might be a concern for some, many appreciate the overall power and features of this machine.
