Elliot Nugent directs Bob Hope and Heddy Lamour in the comedy My Favorite Brunette, which comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are neither subtitles nor closed-captions on this release. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence, but fans of Hope should not be disappointed by this inexpensive Alpha title.
I've been looking for an official release of this movie for years and I finally have it. There are lots of public domain DVDs and tapes of My Favorite Brunette but they all suffer from low quality and a washed out picture but this release is about the best you're going to get of this classic movie. Looks good with no skipped frames!
Hope and Lamour at their best and Peter Lorre and Lon Chaney Jr. along for the ride in a fun movie where everyone but Hope plays it straight! I love the golf scene where Hope kinda breaks character when playing against an asylum inmate. He takes his golf seriously.
No extras other than scenes from other releases by the company. I miss these kind of movies but glad to see there are companies still willing to bring them to dvd/blu ray for old geezers like me.
