A mechanic who moonlights as an underground race-car driver strives to take the top prize in America's most prominent street race in order to have his revenge against the ambitious ex-NASCAR champ who had him framed and sent to prison. Inspired by the popular video-game franchise of the same name, Need for Speed tells the story of garage owner Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul). Desperate to keep his family-owned business afloat, Marshall forms an uncomfortable partnership with wealthy ex-NASCAR star Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). That partnership falls apart when a lucrative sale to car broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots) fails to pan out, and unscrupulous Brewster uses a tragic street-racing mishap to have the innocent Marshall incarcerated. Released from prison two years later, the vengeful Marshall plots to prove his mettle by winning the De Leon -- an illicit race showcasing the country's top underground talents. But getting to the De Leon will be no simple task, because not only has the ruthless Brewster put a bounty on Marshall's prized car, but the police are hot on his trail during the white-knuckle, coast-to-coast dash. Fortunately for Marshall, his loyal crew and Bonet are willing to help him get to the starting line in time for the big race. Capturing speed: making an authentic car movie - get behind the wheel for an up-close look at what it taks to capture high-octane car stunts on camera.
Was looking for this move at other local stores couldn't find it an if I did it was only on regular dvd, an I was looking to purchase it on blu ray best but was an still is the place to find everything u looking for
Throwing the name aside, if you just want a movie about fast cars and lots of stunts, NFS doesn't disappoint. Too many criticize it for not having the best story, but if all you want to see a movie that doesn't take itself seriously and feature lots of awesome cars, this is is.
The movie has some humor, some heart and lots of speeding. It doesn't need to have some deep meaning or a life lesson, it's just people driving cars as hard and as fast as possible.
There are also a lot of practical stunts and very little CG used which makes it nice. The Shelby500 jump was very real, unlike some other car movies where the Mustang was all CG for the jump.
A true popcorn movie, you can't go wrong with it!
I do enjoy the Fast and the Furious movies, well primarily the last 3 because they show more muscle cars. Now with that said, I was interested in this movie because it had some cool muscle cars showcased (first race in the movie is awesome), but it was also neat to see some multi-million dollar cars that I had never heard of before. I am not a huge fan of Mustangs but the Mustang in this movie is pretty awesome. The plot of the movie was pretty good in my opinion, and the actors/actresses did a good job in their roles. There were a few awkward moments here and there so it's only a minor complaint about the acting. Many movies coming out nowadays have a ton of foul language and nudity. This movie had a small amount of foul language (No F words and maybe a handful of lesser curse words were used). Regarding nudity, there is one scene where a man's butt is shown, but it wasn't in an explicit nature at all, and adds comedy to the scene, so it didn't bother me. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with this movie, and I have actually watched it 3 times since I purchased it. I also loved the Bandit Trans Am cameo during the highway race.
You have to get this movie in bluray in order to experience it in the best way possible. I am not sure if its the clear picture of the bluray movie or my samsung UBD K8500 4K player that up converts bluray to near 4k and my samsung UN65JS8500 4K SUHD tv to pair it with, but This movie looks amazing and so clear that i was able to see alot of the actors pores on their face as well as the bags underneath their eyes and even the stiching of their clothing just like the Genuine 4k films with HDR that i already own. Its just an amazing experience to the movie.
I really enjoyed this movie like the Fast and the Furious series. Ignore any plot holes and don't even focus on who's acting. Merely just enjoy the movie for a decent plot, good actors, amazing driving scenes that aren't CG, and the sound quality is epic.
One of the most fun movies to watch as of recent as you know they actually did the stuff filmed like back then and isn't all CG'd like most things nowadays.
If you enjoy F&F series give Need for Speed a shot. It deserves it and I don't even like NFS games ever since Underground 2 was the last good game of theirs. R.i.p. EA games.
