Nest - Protect Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Battery) - White

Very easy to set up through the app. They walk you through it and it takes only minutes at most. It shows you via a green light that it is working and functional when you turn off the light. Best of all, though it's there for protection, it has a daily (or should I say nightly) function too: it has a motion sensor that detects when you are up moving at night and shines a very dim light to brighten your way. This is not "bright" by any means but looks exactly like moonlight. Just enough. Though it might be pricier than you would normally spend, this thing is smart. It knows the difference between humid heat (shower) and dry (more dangerous) heat, therefore not giving you false alarms. You will have peace of mind because you'll be notified of issues even when you are not at home. And, it allows you to input an emergency number so that you don't have to think about that while dealing with a fire. Safe...and Future-proof your home with this detector!

The Nest Protect (wireless version) provides a peace of mind in smoke and carbon dioxide protection. My HVAC furnace is upstairs wing of the house and the Nest was installed in a hallway adjacent to the furnace. It will trigger an alarm and send signal to my primary Nest (wired version) located in the master bedroom. Hopefully this will never occur but one never knows. Both wired and wireless versions are aesthetically pleasing to the eye in comparison to the "other brands". Setup, install and testing of units could not be any easier. Extremely satisfied with purchase and would recommend to anyone in the market to replace existing detectors.

Love this unit. Had to replace an old CO detector, and we had problems with our old smoke detector going off after anyone took a hot shower (detector is just outside the bathroom door). This unit is smart enough to tell the difference between smoke from a fire and steam from a hot shower. No false alarms! Unit was very easy to setup. I like the nightlight feature, the ring glows dimly when someone walks beneath it, works great to see by in the dark, and can see where the stairs are. I also like that the unit has batteries rated to last 1+ years, so don't need to change batteries every 6 months. The detector will let me know when the batteries get low. Very happy with this unit so far.

These smoke and CO detectors are easy to setup and install. I used an iPad to do it. I used the pure battery version. The batteries are the Energizer Lithium, so expect to spend so serious coin to replace them. Sam's carries bulk packs at a steep discount. The batteries are supposed to last years. They only connect to the WiFi occasionally, if your timeout and activity setting in your router are short, you will use up the batteries much faster. They transmit data about once a day. Over the course of about three months, all the units upgraded their shipped software version to the latest for the unit. There are more features in the later versions. One nice feature is the ability to detect shower steam, as "not smoke". They have color lights, so you can tell what kind of alarm is going off. They also have a night light capability that is motion activated. They are loud. In the tests, they are not perfectly syncronized, but they all go off pretty close together. Nice unit.

Having the peace of mind leaving you pets home alone with the protection of nest smoke and co detectors. Connected directly to your wifi it will send you updates as well as problems in real time, you can also have it set up to contact an emergency person as well. You can pair it with other nest products for added protection, other smoke or co detectors where they will all sound together and light up red for fire or blue for co, with a real voice speaking telling you the problem as well. You can also link it to a nest thermostat where in the event of an emergency will shut off your furnace, HVAC, and hot water heater, to stop the production of co or to stop the spread of smoke and fire. It will also tell you when it needs batteries changed. Lights up white when it detects motion when no lights are on. Great product.

Great Product and very easy set up. Took only 10 minutes to set up the 1st one after installing the app. Then the 2nd one was installed in 5 minutes. We have these Alarms on the 1st Floor and the 2nd Floor in our home. They sync with the NEST t-stat that we use as well. Knowing the piece of mind that we can check the status of our home when away and see of any issues which will notify me on my cell as well. Very good product and cost could be lower, but for safety and security of your home it's totally worth the $100.00 each item. Now when will be installing the "Drop Cam" in the home in a few weeks.

I am so pleased with this product. It gives me piece of mind to know I will be alerted if there is a problem in my home that could affect my pets. Fabulous packaging (none of that God awful hard plastic to contend with). Intuitive design. Easy installation. Unless I am missing something, it would be nice if you could test the device from the phone rather than getting on a ladder. Other than that minor drawback, I think it is great.

This purchase was actually a gift. I have 3 of these units in my house. They work flawlessly, and integrate with my thermostat. In addition to giving a verbal message instead of the deafening alarm when the unit first detects a potential issue, I get a text message. Be assured, the verbal message does change to the full blown alarm quickly, if the situation warrants. I even get a text message when the power goes out. Granted, you need a smart phone for these additional features, and need to install additional apps, but it is so simple, I think everyone can install these peace of mind features easily.
