Buy this if you can utilize the 3.1 DOCSIS speed
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Comcast, Internet, PriceBought this for Comcast and it was very easy to setup. Just plug it in and follow the directions to activate it through Comcast's portal. Didn't have to talk to anyone from Comcast. I'm currently paying $70/month and I didn't want to pay the extra $10 rental fee. I sold my soul and locked in that price for 3 years. This modem and a good ac1900 router will pay for themselves after 1.8 years for me. The throughput on the modem is great, I'm getting the most out of my internet speed. I posted screen shots of a few speed tests. Since this is the only DOCSIS 3.1 modem on the market, at the time of writing this review, it is quite expensive. Luckily there was a promotion with VISA checkout and I had some rewards to use, this came down to a decent price. Because of the price, I wouldn't recommend this modem if you're internet speed isn't over 200-300mbs down. You may get incremental increases, but it wouldn't justify paying so much more for this modem compared to a good 3.0 DOCSIS modem.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I purchased this on 1/26/2021 because I had an ARRIS SB6190 that was running into the Puma bug very bad. I had no issues activating it on suddenlink. Ran a Speedtest and am getting way better results than the arris 6190. I have the 1 GB internet plan from suddenlink

Perfect Gigabit Modem
|Posted .I recently upgraded my internet to gigabit through xfinity and I needed a gigabit modem, I have purchased the Arris SB8200 because they are a known good brand and it was the brand I have been using, once I made the purchase, I tested my speed and it is getting no where half the gigabit when I am wired to my router. The netgear one had better review all over but I though arris was find so I sticked to the brand, boy I was wrong. I should have gone with netgear from the start since I have a x10 nighthawk router and probably should pair with the netgear brand. Once I returned the arris modem and picked up this netgear modem, I tested the speed and I am not getting 940mbps wired and around 600mbps, this is the modem to get if you have gigabit internet.

Q: QuestionDoes this work with COX? Is this the best model and brand for COX?
Asked by Tyrone.
- A:Answer YES. I have COX and have used Netgear and Arris modems without issue. I recently upgraded to Gigablast internet and bought the Netgear CM1000. It has worked perfectly for the few weeks I have had it with no issues. You just need to call them or chat, they will ask for the serial number and MAC address so they can provision it, and in a few minutes you'll be online with your new modem. There are really only a handful of Gigabit-capable docsis 3.1 modems available, and the CM1000 has the highest consumer ratings of the three I looked at, which is why I bought it. For future reference, Cox has a compatible modems list on their website.

Q: QuestionIs this modem 1000mb? The pic of box say up to 6gb? The netgear page says the new 3.1 standard is capable of 6gb or 6000mb. The Aries DOCSIS 3.1 model says it can do up to 10g. So how can this only be 1000mb?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer As of right now, there are no consumer grade cable modems that are able to feed your network with anything more than Gigabit Ethernet. Having a modem that is theoretically capable of 6 Gigabit connection to your ISP is useless, as you cannot get the data out of the modem that fast. My sister and I both have the CM1000 modem and get spectacular speeds due to its ability to bind up to 32 downstream channels which allowed my Comcast technician to do some magic and get us both on nearly unused channels in our respective neighborhoods (as far as I understand). The 3.1 DOCSIS standard is great news for those of us that only have cable internet available to us, and will likely be implemented as the cable companies move to IPTV systems. The extra channels and speed your modem is able to bind will be used for your phone and television service. The CM1000 I can recommend without reservation, as my speeds through the ISP modem were around 180 (I'm paying for 200), and the speeds through the CM1000 are 250 or above. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionIs this unit compatible with Xfinity / Comcast? Will I also need a cable box?
Asked by Kem.
- A:Answer Kem, This absolutely works with Xfinity and any other major cable providers. You're also future proofing yourself by getting a modem that supports DOCSIS 3.1. As for the cable box question, you will not need a cable box to work with this modem, it takes a pure cable connection and negotiates the internet connection itself. You will need a cable box for any TVs you want to watch cable TV on. Hope this helps!

Q: QuestionIs this compatible with verizon fios?
Asked by AO.
- A:Answer Sadly, no, FiOS is a fiber optic based system, and from the last conversation I had with a Verizon tech, the ONT (outside box) is only allowed to talk to Verizon's own gateways inside the house. If you are not getting your full paid for speed for your FiOS service, you can call Verizon and request that they replace your gateway with the latest model. Another nice feature about the FiOS gateway is you can turn off all if it's routing, DHCP, and wireless function and get yourself a high performance router with multiple radios, beamforming tech, and the internal horsepower to handle lots of devices. I use the Netgear Nighthawk X6(?) model R8000, and it does a wonderful job of figuring out which devices should be on which radio. This is important, because wireless radios will step down their speed to the slowest standard device on any given radio. The R8000 has 3 radios, so my fastest/newest devices are all on their own radio and run at full capacity. Also, a little tip, if you are having range or dropout problems, move your wireless device to the 2.4 GHz radio, it will have longer range and better ability to penetrate walls and other obstacles. The speed difference is very rarely noticeable unless you are doing giant file tranfers within your own network. Hope this helps.
