Made a huge difference from an ea6350
|Posted .I'm not as tech savvy as I'd like to be when it comes to networking. I did as much research as I could between this one. The r7500v2 and the linksys equivalent that I can't remember. And went with this purchase. WOW it was a big difference going from my EA6350 router (which was only a year old). Before, I did not have good 5ghz coverage being between floors and about 50 feet away from my ea6350. Now with this one I can go anywhere in my 1500 sq ft house and get over 90% signal on this router. I also get my maximum speed from Comcast (250mbps) when speed testing on 5ghz wifi when far away from the router. I could barely break 100 on my old router. The only drawback is that I had 2 instances of my Xbox one connected via Ethernet was not able to connect to Xbox live. Resetting the router fixed that issue. Make sure to buy extended warranty on any router you buy. Routers are more susceptible to exhibit connectivity issues later down the road. So this makes it easy to swap out no hassle

Great overall
|Posted .Not the most expensive but the one I have been most satisfied with so far. It last a feature I love which is auto management of the 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks but even though this takes a little more assigning I find that it works better. My previous router had that feature and I found unreliable signals every so often as it had devices on 2.4 ghz when it felt it was better but it actually wasnt, it did the same with the 5ghz. After testing I know what devices perform best in which rooms on each networks so I have more control using the older method. Otherwise my only other annoyance is the old interface in the settings. Everything else is top notch, it looks cool, is very reliable, has great signal strength (large antennas), and performs like a champ. I have zero issues with ping on my PC in online games and stream all the 4K video my heart desires. I highly recommend this if you do not want to break the bank and want something that will work as advertised.

Excellent for our apt
|Posted .This router is performing excellently for a 2 bedroom apt connecting to at least 4 devices all at one time! I can stream Netflix while searching on my smart phone, as my roomie plays ps4 (& does not lag at all) & plays music on Google home or searches on a smart phone or streaming on a tablet or laptop. Awesome router!

Netgear Nighthawk Router's WiFi is exceptional.
|Posted .Netgear Nighthawk X4s Wireless Dual-band Wi-fi Router was easy to setup. It provided exceptional Wi-Fi coverage to the most distant parts of my home. In minutes my computer, printers, and mobile phones received total Wi-Fi coverage. The SMART TV function transformed the reception to a level of perfection I had not seen on both my televisions. Netflix was easily streamed in and I was thoroughly pleased with the purchase of this router.

Great but LED lights are annoying
|Posted .The router works great but it has a bright LED power indicator light. There is a button to turn on and off the LED lights for other functions but not the power light which gets in the way. I have the router in our movie room and had to put something over the light.

Great Router
Posted .Router has been reliable and fast. Really, you can't ask for much more than that. Yes it's a little big, but it works. Speed: See screen shot (we have 200Mbs plan). During thanksgiving break we had many people streaming, going on internet, etc and the router never missed a beat. Reliability: 5 months - no reboots. Signal Strength: Far reaching, best we've ever had. Setup: Initial setup could not find internet - easily resolved by rebooting the modem and retrying. 1 star deduction for setup options and interface, although many won't notice or care.

Q: QuestionTrying to compare the X4S and AC1900 Nighthawk routers. They are both basically the same price, but X4S has a second USB port, but don't understand if i'm sacrificing speed/reliability for it. What's the difference in layman's terms between the two?
Asked by raepent1.
- A:Answer Right now the X4S is on sale and the same price as the AC1900. The X4S has a 1.7 processor versus 1.0 in the AC1900. As we move towards heavier bandwidth content in video the 1.7 processor will surely benefit you. http://www.netgear.com/landings/nighthawk/?cid=us-nighthawk-srch&utm_source=search&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=q4-us-nighthawk-search&gclid=Cj0KEQiA9ZXBBRC29cPdu7yuvrQBEiQAhyQZ9A82B-9qdMDdw2khyt1vC_EIhEQW-LrwMbUPiVCeh9saAqo78P8HAQ#compare

Q: QuestionWhat up/down load speeds can I expect to get from this router with a DOCS3.0 modem? (Modem speed 100MBps)
Asked by RV.
- A:Answer It will handle whatever you pay for from your ISP. If your plan only supports 30 down 5 up and your ISP actually supplies what you pay for then thats what you'll get. No device can get you faster speeds over what your ISP supplies and you pay for. A lot of people still dont understand this. I can say with my Netgear X8 and my plan from comcast, 130 up and 35 down, I get the best home network ive ever had and it handles multiple devices at any given time with extreme ease. We have 5-10+ devices connected at any given time. But if you dont have as many devices running. 30/5 plan would most likely suffice. I also have the new Netgear 600 modem as well. You want your equipment to work well together and is supported by your ISP.

Q: QuestionI'm wondering if this has the strength (distance coverage), and speed for me in my 2 story, 2500 sq ft house. I'm currently with Spectrum, on the "100mbps," basic plan.
Asked by Zookeeper.
- A:Answer Yes the Netgear X4S works very well in our Townhouse which is also about 2600 sq ft. We had the Geek squad set it up and I was very pleased with the results.

Q: QuestionCan this be wall mounted?
Asked by Revrick.
- A:Answer If anyone has a picture of how this X4S is mounted on the wall I would appreciate it. Will the antennas and ethernet cable be at the bottom? If so, how do you position the two central antennas?

Q: QuestionI think this is the follow up model to my R7500 Nighthawk. I had that unit replaced once and now this one has died after 20 months of dropped connections that were never an issue for my old router. Did they make improvements to this thing?
Asked by spinner.
- A:Answer I am not the old version of this one, but this router works just perfect in our household, we have 4 computers, 4 iphones, and not complains anymore about connections and speed.

Q: QuestionHow far will it extend WiFi signal . We have poor reception at opposite end of house from our current router.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I get a signal outside my house appoximately 50 plus yards! Haven't seen the need to walk down the street to check distance, though!. I get signal second floor and basement, too! I have been very happy with this router!

Q: Questionwill this router improve my Ping?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer There are many contributing factors to high ping, if you have a poor WiFi connect right now then this will likely improve your overall ping as you connection quality improves. If you have a good WiFi connection, though this router is particularly snappy for throughput you are unlikely to be gaining any substantial ping delay with your existing equipment. The largest factor of high ping sits outside your network.
