EXCELLENT ROUTER!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used wireless networking in my home for years and have had several routers. The NETGEAR RangeMax Dual-Band Wireless-N Router is by far the BEST ONE YET!!! We have 1 Desktop PC, 2 Laptops, 1 MFD and 4 tablets that connect through this router (sometimes all at once) and we have never experienced any issues of slow connections or download speeds! To top it all off was the price!!! The value far outweighs the cost!!! I absolutely LOVE this router!!!

Awesome router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's easy to set up anywhere you want. It's always on and never had any problem with needing to turn it off or reset it even after two months of constant use. The dual band makes it more awesome since I can be on Xbox live and watching Netflix and streaming all at the same time without any interruption. Sure fast connection and great HD quality.

Great little modem

Very compact, which I love, and it can be placed flat or you can have it stand up with included legs. Performance is great as well, good range and stable connection!

Q: Questionwant to upgradeI am currently using a Netgear N300 for my wireless network. It was fine until I decided to start streaming MLBtv (in HD) to my HDTV through my Blu-Ray player. There is a lot of refreshing and stuttering and I am assuming it is because my router is not strong enough. Single level home, office and bedroom right next to each other, HDTV and Blu-Ray in bedroom, computer and router in office. Signal doesn't have far to travel. I am getting the same stuttering on my computer but I am attributing that to an older video card in PC. Can you give any suggestions or recommendations? When I do upgrade will I have to re-register my wireless devices? Thank you for your help!!
Asked by Dawn.
- A:Answer Hi, Dawn. Coming from a purely networking point of view (I have years of experience working with electronics and networking), it seems to me that you have a weak router that can't process all of the data. Here's how it works: a router picks up the signal from your internet company, encrypts it, then sends it to your TV, computer, video game console, etc. Now once it gets to your wifi device, that device has to unencrypt it in order for it to be used. This takes time and, in the case of too many signals and not enough bandwidth, causes buffering and stuttering. Let's say you have 2 devices using wifi but one of them is severely hogging the internet (google TV vs wifi cell phone). It is going to take most of that bandwidth and have to unencrypt it before the cell phone will be able to get its info from the wifi but unfortunately, they like to push and shove each other while being in line to get the data so you end up having them fighting over available bandwidth (your mbps) and the data itself so they both are affected and thus go very slowly. If you are using a single band router, it just makes the problem that much worse. You can think of a single band router as a 6 slot extension cord. It has enough room for a couple devices that take a little data and very little room for those devices plus data hogs (computer, google TV, etc). A dual band router gives you more extension slots (ports to connect to) so they aren't fighting over the same data. My recommendation is to upgrade to a dual band router with at least 600 mbps. I currently have a NetGear Dual Band N600 Router and run many wifi enabled devices on it. I had the same problem you are having when I had a single band. Once you get that, it should take care of the problem immediately. I hope this helps.
