Q: Can the 1TB be expanded or replaced with something bigger, like 5TB? How many days of recording can a 1TB hold, typically? Can I view video on my phone?

A: Yes, the pre-installed 1TB HDD can be upgraded. The DVR can accommodate up to a 12TB internal SATA HDD 2.5" or 3.5" with a min. 7200RPM. How many days vary widely, based on where the cameras are installed, how many motion events they detect and many of the system's settings, such as resolution and number of connected cameras (this DVR can hold up to 12). Q: I have 1080 HD cameras. will they work on with this system? My tv is 4K.

A: They should work but they may be in black and white and night owl will not support their products.

Q: Can you turn the spotlight off? We spend a lot of time outside by the fire where one camera would go. It would be annoying if the spotlight is motion detectable without an option to turn it off. Thank you

A: Yes, the spotlight can be disabled for one or more cameras if desired. This can be done at the DVR/NVR level or remotely via the App. This may come in handy for cameras that are installed inside the home, or during special events where you anticipate a lot of camera activity. Q: Does this system require a monitor for setup? Would I be able to use my smartphone or tablet instead?

A: This particular system does require a monitor for initial setup, as you must proceed through the Startup Wizard. However, we do have Bluetooth enabled systems that do not require a monitor. Q: I somehow misplaced the mouse that came with this system, and every mouse I have tried to use since (both wired and wireless) does not work. The one I bought yesterday worked for a few minutes before the cursor stopped moving. Suggestions for new mouse?

Q: do you sell power/comm cables longer than 60 ft? i would need to run a distance of 100'.

A: With our wired DVRs, we do not recommend exceeding 160 ft. utilizing BNC cabling. The cameras with this kit include 60 ft. cables and we sell the 100 ft. extensions on our sales site.
