An ok system (read why)
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I bought this wireless system because I didn't want to run so many wires on a rental home but wanted an actual security system. So here is a quick run down. Setup of the main box and account setup: easy/moderate. I had a small issue (username is admin, just a heads up) and contacted the company....well they didn't get back to me until about 38 hrs later... Camera setup: moderate. You need to make sure you have a ac outlet close by to plug the cameras in. The cord is only 9ft so lay out where you want before you install and also make sure you check to see if the antenna on the camera will fit where you are mounting the camera. If you try moving the camera view to the left (your right when looking at the camera) the antenna keeps it from moving far enough because it sticks out and hits the mount. So limited viewing if positioning it to the side with the antenna. Video quality: Daylight, Amazing! Clear as day! Can see a bird on my lawn no problem. Night time: Pretty good. Just about the same with any camera in night viewing. Motion alert and 2 way: Great. You can set you motion areas where you want it to sense motion. Picked up a squirrel approaching my front door and for the sound, I could hear birds chirping and the ice cream man 2 blocks over. Now here is something that made this purchase not suitable for me.....playback Playback: Viewing it from the 1tb storage at home, absolutely great!! Viewing it from your phone while at work or even at home: absolute worst! Takes forever to load and that's if it loads up....motion would be detected and recorded but when you try to view it from your phone (while sitting at home) you won't even be able to view it. Now if you go and pull it up from the 1tb hard drive, it's all there, works with no problem at all, and quality is great. So there is my pros and cons for this system.

Easy set up and install
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This is a replacement from the arlo. It set up easy. The wireless cameras transmit from at least 80 to 100ft for my install. The night vision is pretty good also. I have one pointing at my sump pump in the basement and I can hear if the pump is running and also see if the sump pit is overfull. The 2 way speaker is also good but there is some lag but could be due to my slow internet. The only thing I wish I could figure out is how to delete recorded footage instead of filling up the NVR and the NVR auto deleting the old stuff.

Posted .In order to delete old footage, you simply have to wipe the hard drive clean by reformatting it. If there are select recordings you want to back up, you can save them to a USB flash drive before performing the reformat. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

Definitely a great purchase!
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. You can see anything especially at night, love it. Sometimes I have to unplug the NVR and plug it, because it’ll tell me there’s no signal on my phone but after doing that everything continues to works great. I caught a person trying to break into my neighbors garage and after he couldn’t get in he was about to head over to mines. But he saw the cameras and changed his mind and tried to dodge my other camera from getting his face. I’ll try to upload it, so please check it out. I wish I had 4 more cameras but can’t afford them just yet.

Q: Questionis this system wireless
Asked by jparsjr66.
- A:Answer Cameras connect to base dvr/nvr wirelessly. They do require a wired power source. A 12v wall-wart with 9ft cord is included with each camera. The base has it's own wifi that the cameras use, they do not use your home's wifi. . The base needs a wired ethernet connection to the internet.

Q: QuestionMost wireless wideband security systems supplied have four cameras. Yours has eight. What issues does this cause? If all eight are feeding data at one time are there bandwidth issues. How many frames per second do you send for each camera.
Asked by Allen.
- A:Answer I’ve had no issues with loss of any camera or overload on bandwidth. I keep my on motion detection instead of continuous recording. Saves data and storage space but you can still monitor it in live mode. I haven’t had any issues.

Q: QuestionIs this identical to the 4 camera system just with 4 more cameras?
Asked by JAWS.
- A:Answer For the most part, yes. However, if you ever want to expand beyond 4 cameras you won't be able to with the 4 camera system since it only supports 4 total channels. I needed a 6 camera system and had to go with the 8 camera product since I couldn't expand the 4 camera version. All of the other specifications seem to be identical. One item to note, it uses its own wireless network not your home wireless network so placement of the DVR unit is very important to ensure you can receive a signal from all of your cameras. I'm still having an issue within one of my cameras not always showing up.

Q: QuestionCan the NVR be installed wirelessly to the home internet?
Asked by tim246.
- A:Answer With our wireless NVR, the cameras wirelessly connect to the NVR's built-in Wi-Fi. This will enable you to locally access your system from a TV/monitor using the included HDMI cable. Internet in only required for remote viewing. To access your Wireless NVR system from a Smart Device, PC or Mac, you will need to hardwire your unit to your router using the included Ethernet cable. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

Q: Questioncan it be upgraded to color or is it just black and white
Asked by steve.
- A:Answer This system is all color (video). Only black and white is the night vision. If your talking about the color of the camera bodies, I haven't seen any upgrades for color change.

Q: QuestionCan the cameras mounting bracket be used as a sturdy base to place camera on window sill, without having the image upside down? i don't want to have to physically mount the cameras to wall or ceiling. Does the night vision feature work through windows?
Asked by CRF.
- A:Answer No to both. The mounting bracket needs to be secured to a surface, usually wall or ceiling. It cannot be used as a stand. Also, the Night Vision will not work through windows and there will be a red glare at night when the cameras enter Night Vision. Thank you.
Answered by Night Owl
Q: QuestionCan you add more cameras then the 4 that comes with it?
Asked by ShiningNight.
- A:Answer Yes. This is an 8 Channel system and can hold up to a total of 8 Wireless 1080p Cameras. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
Answered by Night Owl
Q: QuestionMy house is pre-wired for surveillance system but I only see Ethernet cables. Does it use PoE to power the cameras?
Asked by ebc702.
- A:Answer Each wireless camera needs to be plugged into an outlet to work. There's no Ethernet connection on the camera.
