Great prime lens!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took this lens with me to New York Comic Con, and it performed great. I was able to take some really good head shots of people dressed in cosplay. I highly recommend this lens. It is small, light, and sharp! With a 1.8 aperture, you can take some sharp images at low light, as well.

An amazing prime lens.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is what they call the "Nifty Fifty" and for good reason! With a max aperture of f1.8, this is an essential lens for shooting in low light situations. It is my lens of choice for techniques such as light painting. Please keep in mind that this is a prime lens and, therefore, you have to physically move closer or further from your subject to achieve the framing that you desire. The only downsides that I have with it is that I have to be too close to my subjects for macros, while I have my extension tubes attached, and it will not auto focus on my camera, the Nikon D3300 (which really isn't a downside for me; as I will only use manual focus, but just about every other photographer that I know insists on having the option available). Lastly, price is a great selling point, $139 "out the door' for an authentic Nikkor lens!!!!

AMAZING Lens!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens was the "best buy" (cute huh?) for my D90. The image that the 1.8 aperture can deliver is really sharp. Very versatile for indoors and outdoors; low light or bright light, it works for both. If you want a cheap, high quality, mobile lens, this is a must have for the Nikon.

great little lens!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a great lens! I bought mine for 4th of July family vacation. I used express shipping and it was here in 2 days for about $170.00 total. Buying at best buy gave me confidence since there is a store just around the corner. I looked at other places but returned to B.B. I would recommend this lens to anyone. The manual focus wasn't a drawback. I actually find that the extra time it takes me to focus helps me set up the shot a little and notice the small details.

A Prime Performer
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens is a prime lens that has become a staple in the camera bags of photographers worldwide, and for good reason. This lens delivers exceptional image quality and versatility, making it a standout choice for both beginners and seasoned photographers. One of the key strengths of the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D is its wide aperture of f/1.8. This allows for impressive low-light performance and beautiful background blur, commonly referred to as bokeh. The lens excels in capturing stunning portraits, emphasizing the subject with sharpness while gracefully blurring the background, adding a professional touch to every shot. The build quality of the lens is commendable. Despite its lightweight design, the construction feels robust and durable. The manual focus ring operates smoothly, providing a tactile feel that's appreciated, especially for photographers who enjoy fine-tuning their focus manually.

Q: QuestionWill this lens work with the NIKON D3500? Will it auto focus?
Asked by IUgrad.
- A:Answer The Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D lens will work with your Nikon D3500 DX-format DSLR but will need to be manually focused, as this camera model doesn't have a built-in focus motor. For lenses that will autofocus with the D3500 camera, look into AF-P AF-S and newer E-type lenses.

Q: QuestionWill my Nikon d5600 be compatible with this lens?
Asked by JC1807.
- A:Answer The AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D Lens (Product 2137) will not autofocus on the D5600 but is otherwise compatible. For a comparable lens that will autofocus on the D5600 consider the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens (Product 2199).

Q: Questionwill this lens work on a D3100
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I have used this lens on a 3100, and though it does technically work, it does NOT autofocus. Doing some research I found that it's because it lacks the "Silentwave motor" as designated on lenses that say AF-S in the name, such as the 35mm f/1.8 Lens. (I read this on Nikon's website under tech specifications for this camera: "AF-S Lens Required for Autofocus") This is probably too late for the original poster but I hope this helps someone else. P.S. a new 50mm AF-S lens is about to be released from Nikon as of June 16 (according to one website)

Q: Questiondoes this lens work with d3300
Asked by Anne.
- A:Answer The NIKKOR 50mm 1.8D lens is compatible with the D3300 but it will only focus manually. For lenses that autofocus on the D3300 look for NIKKOR lenses with the AF-S designation. AF-S indicates that the lens is equipped with Nikon's Silent Wave Autofocus Motor.

Q: QuestionIs this lens compatible with D300s camera?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes it is. The lens will work on any body that has a focusing driver. There is no focus motor in the lens, which saves on weight and cost. It can only be used on the D7000, D300, D300s, and all of the FX bodies like the D3 and D3x.
