Excellant
||Posted .This is a wonderful camera. I am an experienced photographer (old school even with film developing and printing) and I have found this to be fantastic. The optics are great, it is perfectly balanced, easy grip, fingers fall right onto the controls. It uses AA batteries, so if you run out of power they are found everywhere. The only fault I have is one that is apparent in all digital point/shoot cameras now, there is no viewfinder. Bridge cameras for high end users used to have a viewfinder as there are lightening situation where the screen is not visible, but I think bridge cameras cut into DSLR sales and viewfinders and high end bridge cameras were eliminated. The 40X optical zoom is terrific and to be able to go from that to almost zero for macro is wonderful. A great camera.

Nikon B500
||Posted .I first liked this because of the plum color, sad but true. Then I read the reviews and all were mostly good. The one that got me the most was being able to take pictures of the moon. I was like no way. Way. I'm not a photographer by any means, just wanted a good camera for vacation and sports etc. This is above and beyond what I need and I love it. Got a great pic of my son's intense face from across the field, zoomed in on animals in the tops of trees or at the zoo. very impressed. It's made some fun Instagram pics lol

Nikon, when you want the best!
||Posted .I've been using Nikon cameras for over 30+ years, everything from film SLR's to DSLR's to compact Point & Shoots, and I've never been disappointed. I picked up this Coolpix B500 to make videos with, as I wanted something a little more compact than my full frame D5 DSLR & under $300 & this fits the bill perfectly. Great Nikkor lens with 40x optical/up to 4x digital/80x total zoom, records 1080p Full HD movie clips up to 30 fps with stereo sound, full range of shooting modes, with burst shooting mode that captures up to 7.4 fps in continuous shooting mode. Plus a plethora of other goodies. It'll make novice photogs look great & good photogs look like pros!

This camera is awesome
||Posted .I am so glad I dropped my other camera in the ocean. Not really cause it was a good camera but this camera is even better. I need a Point and Shoot to tag along with my D5100 and this B500 takes great pics. I love the Bird watchers scene setting. It works great! I do a lot of wild bird photos mostly of eagles and other raptors. The pictures are clear and crisp, and even from a distance they come out great! Any birder looking to shoot pictures as a hobby should definitely check this camera out! Nikon is great I love their cameras.

Easy to transfer pics to.my phone to post
||Posted .I would've given this a 5 star if it used the same rechargeable batteries as my Nikon D3100 which I've had for decades. I like the quality of the pictures, but the sensor on whether I still have my lens cap on is too sensitive and currently I need to smack it to "wake it up.". I get an error message " take off lens cap and turn off camera and turn it back on. " Frustrating , but still workable.

Excellant
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.First I like the color. I've read the reviews for this and it requires AA batteries. I'm not a photographer by any means but I usually take pictures of birds or lizards in my backyard and can get a better picture quality than my other camera. I've also taken pictures at the zoo/safari park. I haven't tried to connect to the WiFi yet but eventually I will. Just having fun using the camera.

Great versatile camera
||Posted .I'm vertically challenged so having a tilting display allows me to view pictures to insure they are in focus and centered before shooting. I can now take pictures above my head and see what I'm taking before the click. Pictures are clear and the telephoto lens is awesome!

Best Camera ever
||Posted .I haven't bought a camera for like 8 years, and I had been wanting a light weight compact that has smart features that help the novice ( me ) with photography. I love photography and needed simple to understand, but something that would be clear pictures from a distance and close up and especially night photos. This camera also has WiFi and blutooth capability so I can send photos anytime I want to share. Very easy to opperate. Much more so then my last Nikon. Great purchase.

Nikon Coolpix B500 ReviewThe Nikon Coolpix B500 is a bridge camera with a 16 megapixel sensor, which is paired with a 40x optical zoom. You can also activate a digital zoom up to 80x. It offers a range of shooting modes, but there's no manual control, and it can't shoot

Q: QuestionJust bought camera. When I turn off camera, the on/off light stays on. Nothing in manual about it. Help?
Asked by Kelly.
- A:Answer The green light you are seeing on your Nikon COOLPIX B500 digital camera is to let you know that the camera is still connected to the smart device and that the SnapBridge app is still on; ready for use. To un-pair the camera when you aren't using it, simply open up the SnapBridge application, press the camera listed that is currently paired with and say "OK" to un-pairing. Then open Bluetooth settings on your smart device, choose the B500 camera and "Forget this device". The green light will no longer be there when you turn the camera off. To connect them again, just open up the SnapBridge app and start the process for pairing by pressing the camera icon. To learn more about your camera please contact Nikon Support.

Q: QuestionI want to start a YouTube channel. Is this a good camera with good quality for videos?
Asked by Dev22.
- A:Answer The Nikon COOLPIX B500 digital camera allows you to capture video in Full HD 1080p quality with stereo sound and Hybrid Vibration Reduction (VR) to counteract shaky hands. There's even a Short Movie Show mode which helps to combine multiple videos into one thrilling, fast-motion sequence movie. In addition, this easy-to-use, point and shoot camera has a Creative Mode that lets you apply different effects to your video to really help them stand out. It is recommended you use an approved memory card with a speed of 6 or more for videos.

Q: QuestionIs the zoom on this camera clear enough for me to tell if the Bigfoot I've been seeing is a male or female at 300 yards?
Asked by Billybob.
This question was asked about the related product: Nikon - COOLPIX B500 16.0-Megapixel Digital Camera - Black
- A:Answer The B500 has a 40x optical zoom provides super telephoto power! Add to that its Dynamic Fine Zoom, an enhanced digital zoom which effectively doubles the camera's reach. The B500's Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction (VR) helps to keep your long distance shots steady, and its 16-megapixel CMOS sensor captures every detail. Keep in mind that other factors will impact the shot - for example - if the creature is excessively hirsute then it may not be possible to determine its gender regardless of how close you are able to zoom in.

Q: QuestionDoes this camera use only AA batteries only?
Asked by Chloe.
- A:Answer The Nikon COOLPIX B500 digital camera takes either four LR6/L40 (AA-size) alkaline batteries, four FR6/L91 (AA) lithium batteries or four EN-MH2 Rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. No other types of batteries should be used with this camera.

Q: Questiondoes this camera have a viewfinder?
Asked by cookie.
This question was asked about the related product: Nikon - COOLPIX B500 16.0-Megapixel Digital Camera - Black
- A:Answer Sadly, it does not. The optical viewfinder has all but disappeared except on the high-end DSLR cameras. The 3" LCD display seems to do a good job and I am able to see images in bright sunlight. The LCD on the B500 has the ability to tilt down so you can see what you are snapping even if you are holding it above your head. I'm kind of short so I am looking forward to using this feature.
