Top Notch Superzoom!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great value...less than $300. Has an adjustable viewfinder. 24mm to 1000mm optical zoom and can take filters. Sharp images at 1000mm. I bought a filter adaptor, polarizing filter and neutral density filter on Ebay for less than $30. I am an advanced amateur photographer and I'm very happy with the versatility and quality of this camera. No need for a DSLR.

Great camera for the price. Very pleased.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this camera. The zoom is fantastic, allowing remarkably sharp pictures of those far away subjects that you don't want to disturb or scare away. Very easy to switch between view-finder mode and screen mode. Great for nature shots. Video is very sharp and sound is accurate. One downside is getting used to focusing during video mode when the action is far away. And the view screen does not flip, rotate, tilt, etc. But that is not important to me, just a nice to have. Highly recommended. The shot attached was taken from 75 feet away.

Q: QuestionHow automatic is this camera? Is this a point and shoot camera and can lenses be changed
Asked by jewls.
- A:Answer Yes, the Nikon Coolpix P530 is a point-and-shoot camera, but with many optional manual settings. It is not a DSLR, and you cannot change lenses. It does, however, have an excellent wide-angle 42x telephoto lens, which is more than adequate for the non-professional photographer.

Q: QuestionIf you had a choice of a Nikon D3200 w/double Zoom lens kit or the Nikon Coolpix P530 or Coolpix L830 which would you choose and why? Novice photogra
Asked by LisaLisa.
- A:Answer I can't offer you a comparison but I did purchase the Nikon Coolpix P530. I'm far from a professional photographer but been using various camera's for over 10 years. The Coolpix is simple to use and has a great zoom and storage capability. The auto feature takes solid pics but you have a ton of options for scene and other effects. Another cool feature is that you can transfer photo's from the camera to your smart phone using an optional WIFI dongle that connects to the camera. Ask the salesperson about this one. It connects fairly easily and I like to move some of the pics to my mobile. I think for a beginner it has many features to play with and learn the skill. I'm still working on some of the things but I've used the camera almost two months and I really enjoy it. As I mentioned, using the auto feature makes it pretty brain less which works good for me. The 60X zoom is cool so you won't have to change lenses for that feature. It's plenty for my use. Plus I thought the price was a good deal. When it first arrived it was over $400 so that's a plus. Hope this helps some.

Q: QuestionIs buying a refurbished camera safe? I mean is it as good as new?Is refurbished safe to buy? Is it the same as new?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer If it is factory certified and comes with a full warranty, then yes. I've purchased many refurbished electronics and have had excellent service from nearly all of them. I've saved LOTS of money this way. Also, look closely at return policies before you buy. Best Buy is good about returns within their specified time frame. Their customer service is good, so they are a good retailer from which to buy refurbished items.

Q: QuestionWhen pictures are taken, for example, towards the sun, how much lens glare follows, using the regular lens?
Asked by Jccanto.
- A:Answer Glare can come from scratches, dust or dirt on the lens. A lens hood would help in some cases, but the Nikon P530 does not accept any filters or hoods (not threaded). However - There is very good functioning D-Lighting mode for brightly lit backgrounds (see menu in several modes). Read the manual

Q: QuestionWhy does Best Buy say 4x's optical zoomIt seems other web sites suggest 2x's optical zoom for the same model. Why does Best Buy say 4 times the Optical zoom?
Asked by AndyH.
- A:Answer The COOLPIX P530 features a 42X optical zoom with an additional 4X digital zoom.

Q: Questionviewfinder description on Best Buy websiteUnder specifications, the viewfinder description is this: A small video monitor that enables you to watch the scene you're recording (or play back a previously recorded sequence). I consider a viewfinder to be the small window on back near the top which I look through to frame a picture, not the big display screen. So when the specs say "yes" - what does that really mean to Best Buy? Some of the cameras on the website don't have multi photos to show the back - so can't see for myself - just reading the specs.
Asked by anon.
- A:Answer It has a real view finder that fits your personal description as well as a display screen.
