Solid Performer
Posted .This camera performs about as well as the D7100 but without some of the features i.e. bracketing, dual card slots, deeper buffer, etc. If you care only about picture quality and don't need some of the more advance capabilities of a semi-pro camera.... the D3300 is great. 24MP stills and shoots 1080P 60FPS video. It has essentially the same processing engine and OLPF free sensor as its more expensive siblings. I bought it because its much more convenient to travel with being light and compact and I can still use the optics I bought for my other Nikon bodies. Because of its size, it doesn't call too much attention to itself and allows you to shoot more obscurely. You get the same amazing pictures as with the more advance Nikon cameras; Great results especially when you pair it with the sharp fast prime lenses. Don't pay too much attention to the bad reviews. This is a solid performing camera with all the features you'll need to shoot great pics. I've taken the D3300 to two foreign countries already and its performed exemplarily. The only issues I ran into was the laggy response shooting in Live View (common with most of the Nikon DSLRs) and the occasional erratic over exposure in bright sun light. Nothing major to keep me from loving this camera. I think its a great value.

Great All Round Camera
||Posted .Have had great success with this camera. This is the first Digital SLR Camera that I have owed. My old SLR Cameras use film are all Nikons. That might giveaway my age. But back to my review. Used this camera on a recent trip to SD an took some good wildlife pictures. Camera was very easy to use. In auto focus mode works great if you are not shooting action shoots (Auto Focus does not respond quick enough for action shots). If you are shooting action shoots recommend that you use this camera in manual mod for good results.

Great Camera
||Posted .My wife bought this for me to enjoy. Very simple to use, great pictures with no lag time between photos. Shot continuously if you want multiple shots seconds apart or switch to video mode your choice. If you decide to go with videos get a large and fast memory card. Thousands of still photos but video eats up space on memory card quick. If your wondering what camera to buy This is it you wont be disappointed. Hope this review helps. Best Buy shopper Warren, MI

First DSLR
Posted .I've wanted my own DSLR for a while now - more specifically a Nikon DSLR. I had been using my Nokia Lumia 1020 for pictures and videos, but after a weird camera glitch it corrupted many photos and videos of a recent trip...and so I decided the purchase of an actual camera was in order. I wanted a camera I could take with me to whatever corner of the globe I found myself in, as well as grow up on (as I plan on buying a better Nikon camera later on as I begin to improve), but also a camera that would be kind to my wallet since I'm but a mere fledgling in the art of photography. After some heavy research I found that the D3300 fit both my budget and quality criteria and ended up receiving it as a present from a family member. The camera itself is lightweight and pretty durable, and I can fit it into a carryon bag no problemo. I'm pretty pleased with the results from my last overseas trip: It did well with the sunsets (though the manual does warn users not to point lens into the sun), crashing waves, and captures moving animals well too. There's nothing wrong with this camera's "Auto" mode but...from my own experience I really don't like Auto Mode on any camera. It's easy to customise ISO and all that to make sure you come out with your desired results. I also thought I would have to take panoramas with my Nokia Lumia 1020, but that wasn't the case - it was easy to do, and tripod or not, they came out pretty good. The lens it comes with is great for beginners, but from past DSLRs I'm used to zooming in from further distances, so I will be buying a better zoom lens in the near future. I'd also recommend purchasing a camera cover for the body for added protection and registering it with Nikon for the warranty (unless you aren't as 'dropping-things-down-a-mountain-into-a-river' prone as I am). Granted, there ARE better cameras on the market (hence the 4 star rating), but if you're a beginner on a budget this is a great DSLR to start out with. Nikon and other D3300 users have a plethora of video tutorials on how to use this camera should you need visual help. And remember - it's not the camera that makes the photographer.

Great camera, everything I expected and more!
Posted .I read tons of reviews and comparisons between this, the D3200, the Canon T3i, T5, etc This one was always the hands down winner even though some of the others had features such as a touchscreen LCD or flip out LCD. This was scored to have a better kit lens with it, have better picture quality overall due to having the low pass filter removed and performing quite well at high ISO. I did a test run yesterday tinkering with the settings and was able to take some great photos of some of my friends fish in his aquariums. I used to have a Sony NEX-5N and this blows it away. I plan on getting a 35mm lens and a 55-300mm lens to compliment the camera. IMHO, this is the best beginners DLSR on the market right now between the $300-500 price range. Shop around and you can get a good deal on the standard body+kit lens combo.

awesome camera
Posted .my first real camera, DSLR type. what a difference over a sony a5000. glad I returned the sony and got this, I have had many digital cameras thru the years but never a DSLR. all I want is a crystal clear picture on most pictures with a few bad ones here and there. for $299.00 I tried the sony a5000, read the manual and in all auto modes was unable to get it to really work good. despite all the rave reviews I was unimpressed. odd because I have a sony android phone that takes incredible pictures....so I returned the sony a5000 at best buy, forked over $200.00 more and I have a feeling its the best money spent this time around. the nikon d3300 had good ratings, not many focus points or wifi as the similar d5300, also looked at the d7000 but its main difference was weather sealed. the d3300 has 24.2 MP vs 16.1 MP with d7000 and d7000 has faster shutter 1/8000s vs 1/4000s. not being a camera junkie I could not justify any additional expense over the d3300.

Q: QuestionDid I get a lemon?Soooo unhappy with this camera. I previously took gorgeous shots with Canon G12, then, unhappy with its planned obsolescence in the form of "Lens errors" decided to try an SLR by buying Nikkon's D3300. When I have it on auto setting, it rarely if ever focusses. Is it so sensitive that it needs optimal conditions to focus and the auto setting really isn't worth much or did I somehow get a lemon? Sooooo disappointed. Wish I''d stuck with Canon at this point.
Asked by Janjandub.
- A:Answer Make sure you have the lens set on "A" and not "M". There is a switch on the side of the lens.

Q: QuestionIs this a good camera for indoor sporting events. My current camera does not take good pictures indoors or at night.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The D3300 - with it's ability to boost ISO setting and it's larger sensor is excellent for indoor sporting events. You might want to look into getting a longer zoom lens along with this basic 18-55mm Kit. Please look at the NIKKOR 55-300mm lens that is sold at Best Buy. It will assist you in zooming in on the action at those indoor sporting events.

Q: QuestionWhich tripod is recommended for the Nikon D3300?
Asked by Millie.
- A:Answer The Nikon D3300 DSLR camera has a standard 1/4" (ISO 1222) tripod socket. Look for a good quality tripod that is rated to withstand the combined weight of your gear (camera, lens & accessories) and has this standard size mount.
