Exceeds expectations
|Posted .I expected the D4s to be a modest improvement on the D4 ... not so. As with the D4 before it, this is the go-to camera for those who need reliable, robust performance combined with shooting speed, and can afford it. The D4s does everything the D4 did, at least as well as the D4. The one outstanding difference I've seen in my short time with the camera is a significant improvement over the D4's already impressive low-light performance. Nothing scientific here yet, but I think it's telling that I've bumped the auto-ISO limit up to 12800 and am perfectly comfortable with that. I'd also like to spend some time with the Group AF feature ... looks promising so far. The attached screenshot shows 100% crops of three shots taken in my dark living room (just natural light, with the curtains mostly closed) at ISO settings of 12800, 25600 and 409600. The 409600 shot obviously has a lot of noise, but it's very, very fine and these photos are straight from the camera with no editing. Pretty impressive!

Fast, Powerful, Awesome Image Quality
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have owned a lot of Nikon cameras and this is the pinnacle. Fast metering, fast focus, love the group focus feature, and great low light images. All the extra computing power allows noise reduction in the camera. I found the images to be visibly better than the D4, which I also owned. Love the camera. It's big, it's heavy (which helps me hold it steady. I can handhold shots at 1/40 sec), it's solid, it's fast. All those shots I almost got, now I am getting them. The Nikon D42 is AWESOME.

Nikon's best camera yet
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have a D810, in the past had a D7100 and D800, the D4s is by far the best low light camera on the market!
Q: Questionshooting video with Nikon D4SCan I shoot video without being in live view, shoot while looking though view finder? Please explain can't find it in manual. Thank You Kevin
Asked by kdg710.
- A:Answer You need to use the LCD or attach an external monitor via the camera's HDMI port. You cannot use the optical viewfinder as, when shooting video on any DSLR, the mirror will pop up blocking the optical viewfinder.
