Perfect for kids and adults alike
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe Nintendo 2DS is a product released by Nintendo, at the same time as the Pokemon X & Y world-wide release. The Nintendo 2DS is absurdly comfortable in your hand. your hand will not cramp or otherwise get tired from holding this device. The Nintendo 2DS is also very easy to set-up. Any Questions you may have relating to this device can be easily found in the multi-lingual manual that comes with it, or by use of the Notice system in the home menu. This Handheld lacks the 3DS feature of the... well... 3DS. This does not detract from gameplay in any way, because 3D is a novelty feature. There are no compatibility issues. This will play all Nintendo DS and 3DS games without problems. It has a mono-sound output. I personally cannot tell the difference between Mono and Stereo, so I could care less. However, Stereo is much more apparent with headphones, and headphones do increase sound quality... just like it does for everything else. You may have problems transporting your 2DS. Nintendo already has an official product for this, but without it you may need to be a little innovative. This is probably the biggest drawback of this system The System has a slate design rather than a clamshell design. What this means is that the system as a whole fits more comfortably in your hands and that you don't have to worry about a detached hinge... ever.

Introducing a new generation to Nintendo
|Posted .I bought this for my daughters (7 years old) Birthday present. Most video games systems seemed to be geared more towards adults now days and I wanted to share with my daughter the love I felt for Nintendo growing up. I am a child of the 80's and remember having an Atari and then the Christmas morning we got a NES! So I did some research and decided Nintendo was still the best platform for kids games. Plus I can download all my old nostalgic favorites from the eshop and play when my daughter is busy having tea parties with her cats. Decided to go with the 2ds because it was cheaper and she can take it along for those long car rides. She also loves watching my little ponies from the netflix app on it! She is a huge fan of the lego friends sets so when we saw they had a 3ds game for it she wanted it. Super Mario 3d Land is a little hard for her still (but enjoy it) so we are both anticipating the release of Mario Kart! I just ordered the Zelda Link between worlds game so hopefully she will share with me :) also looking forward to picking up Kirby and Yoshis new games when they are released. Does anyone have some good recommendations for kids games for girls? Either from the nintendo shop or cartridge? We downloaded Shantay already.

Just as Good as the 3DS but Cheaper
|Posted .Honestly, when I first started shopping for a nintendo handheld gaming unit, I really wanted a 3DS. I liked the color options, the 3D option (although when I played a friend's 3DS, I didn't even use it.), the flip screen. But I had read the reviews, and the flip screen gets loose hinges after a while so its harder to keep it up. And, most importantly, it's $200 for the XL and $170 for the regular and has been out how many years now! The price has never dropped, and to me... I feel like that was too much money for something I don't necessarily need and may not always use. (I'm a 25 year old girl who works just shy of 60 hours a week, average) Then one day, I was in Best Buy and the 2DS was on sale for $90? And when you compare prices, the screen is just as large as the $200 unit, and the only difference is that it's in a more convenient position for holding in your hand and doesn't have a 3D function. So, I'm highly satisfied. I've spent countless hours playing animal crossing and pokemon and it has worked as good as I had hoped. I love the sleep feature but don't forget its on sleep! Otherwise you'll risk not saving and the battery dying.

Great Product
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this for our nine year old daughter as a gaming system but also to use as a kid friendly camera that I wouldn't have to worry about. It works very well on both fronts. It's well built and does not appear flimsy or to have obvious weak points like the older hinged models do. I love the Nerf Armonr cases, though, and was sad to see that the case industry hasn't yet caught up with this unit. Only carrying cases and skins are available at this point.

Good alternative to a 3DS
|Posted .If you just want to play one or two 3DS games, but don't care about the 3D features or just don't want to spend the extra money, the 2DS is an excellent choice. It's light and very ergonomic, making it easy to play in bed before you turn in. All the same 3DS features except actual 3D are present here; you can still take pictures and download games. I mainly bought it to play the new fire emblem, and it served well in that regard. The battery life is nothing amazing though, especially if you're used to getting smartphone or tablet times. I usually got +- 3 hours out of it, which meant I had to charge it every day. The screen resolution is also lower than modern tablets or smartphones, so things might look a little pixelated.

I highly recommend this product.
|Posted .I bought this one and a blue one for my nephew, and we had at least 2 hours of fun with it before we even put a game in the system. The picture is amazing. The touch screen works really well. It's comfortable to hold, and the placement of the controls seems to work smoothly. About the only thing I can think of now that could be better is a slightly wider choice of accessories. Like stylus' and cases. My nephew and I have really enjoyed the system in just the short amount of time we've had it. I recommend when you buy one, get one for a friend and play together. :)

Great console for a smaller budget
Posted .Had it for a couple of days now, bought with Pokémon Y and it's amazing! The buttons are placed in comfortable easy to use places. Has a sleep mode that allows for you to preserve battery life while being able to pick up what you were doing just as you had left off. It's compatible with both DS and 3DS games so the library is huge! Not to mention WiFi allowing you to access the Nintendo eShop. I personally have no regrets on my purchase. The one real downside is that it doesn't fold which leaves the screen exposed for possible scratching. However this also brings you right back to the Gameboy(original, pocket, color and advance) days. With all of that said, it's a really nice and easy to use system and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into 3DS games or to anyone who wants to play but has a tight budget.

Great system for the price.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis system is amazing for those who have a low budget. Specially with Pokemon X/Y being released this is a good product to grab and use with it. It feels like you're holding a tablet , but the buttons and everything are within reach so it's actually VERY comfortable.Specially the L and R triggers. Other than that It's just hard to carry around with you , unless you get a carrying case with it. All in all It's a good system, I recommend you at least trying it before bashing it like many people have just cause of its design. -Recommend getting the Carrying case with this, or buying some screen protectors if you don't want your screens getting scratched.
