Nintendo - amiibo Figure (Diddy Kong)

It's a really cool amiibo for your collection to have

Amiibo are very high detailed and fit well together. Diddy Kong amiibo is exactly as shown in picture!

The pose and detail on the figure are great. The actual product differs from the promotional picture featured on the Best Buy website. There is a translucent yellow stabilizer located under his belly and between his left arm and leg. Obviously this is so that the figure can stay intact when handled by younger children. His tail protrudes from his backside and may break off if handled roughly or dropped. His pupils are positioned a bit farther apart than what would appear on the promotional image. His lower jaw is also glued on so you may notice the connection if you inspect the figure closely. Currently, games that support amiibo functionality are lacking. At the moment, this figure can be trained as a figure player in the new Super Smash Bros. for Wii U game and as a way to obtain extra rupees, crafting materials or low quality weapons once per day for the new Hyrule Warriors game. I would probably enjoy this product more if Nintendo ever releases a game specifically made for amiibo. Locating this product in store was serendipitous in that the rarer amiibo figures seem to sell out extremely quickly no matter where you go. There were only two on display when I happened to pick this up at my local Best Buy in comparison to the pegs filled with the more common characters. I am pleased that you are able to receive a 20% discount on amiibos if you are enrolled in Best Buy's Gamer's Club unlocked. Hopefully they won't change their mind or I would try and find a better deal elsewhere.

I've got this amiibo so this will be a general review of the figure quality and it's in game use. Quality: These are great looking figures. I was very happy with the quality of all the figures. They feel solid, probably won't break with an accidental drop. Really nice to look at. You could display these and never use them in a game and it would be a nice looking collection. In game use: First thing you need to understand is that you don't need to buy any amiibos for any games. There are several Games like Smas Bros Wii U, Hyrule Warrios, Mario Kart 8, etc.

As with most Smash Bros Amiibo figures, this is best purchased for someone who plays mainly as the character, in this case Diddy Kong. It levels up and the AI for the character in game (called a Figure Player) becomes more advanced and more difficult as you use it, and even faster if you use the same character yourself. It levels up at a scale where the player will find themselves becoming more skilled with the character too, if they play as it. Otherwise, it's just a fun little extra to the newest Smash Bros. game, and a neat collectible to display on a shelf.

Of all the amiibo figures, Diddy has proven to be one of the easier ones to find. He is a pretty nice figure. The fur is rather detailed and he has held up well to a few accidental falls (oops!). His tail is a bit flimsy but it isn't that bad. The functionality of these figures in both Smash Bros and other select nintendo games is a great bonus and makes owning and collecting them in general very fun. After playing Smash 4, I started to enjoy playing as Diddy and was very happy when I got his amiibo.

Nintendo's toys-to-life franchise known as Amiibo has become an important key point for them and for good reasons. Many games feature fun exciting ways to play and unlock content within Amiibo such have a special hide and seek game in Toad's Treasure Tracker or unlockable costumes in such games as Yoshi's Woolly World and Mario Kart 8. They also make a great collectible in itself due to Nintendo having a limited amount of merchandise for their franchises prior to Amiibo.

If you're a fan of classic Nintendo IP, that's reason alone to get this. If you're an avid Smash Bros player, that's even more reason! On its own, its a pretty nice figure with some good details. The eyes are a little derpy, but given its a DK character, that's to be expected. The in game functionality of all amiibos is pretty great. They provide a good challenge or can be a great teammate.
