Best game I've played in years
||Posted .When I first heard about the game I was super sad cause I didn't have a Wii U to play it on, so I couldn't get the game. I had resigned myself to the fate of not getting to play this awesome looking game when I found this bundle, and decided to go ahead and spend the money on it since if you buy this bundle, the 60$ game is essentially free. Do I regret spending 300$ on a next gen console specifically to play this one game? Not in the least. It arrived two days earlier than the initial estimate had said, so I got to play it sooner than expected and I am SO HAPPY. The Wii U is everything Nintendo SAID the Wii would be, with motion controls that act exactly how you want them to. Pair those controls with a shooter type like Splatoon, and you can aim pretty easy. As well, it loads video on Youtube or Netflix really well and clearly, which is really cool. Splatoon itself is just as awesome as I'd hoped. It's colorful and fun, and there's a lot more content and ink colors than I expected. Plus with the variety of weapons and sub-weapons, it's hard to get bored. The characters are likeable, the Inklings and Octolings are SO adorable, and for a multiplayer-focused game, the singleplayer campaign is really in depth and has some nice lore and story to go with it, plus a few twists I did NOT see coming. The entire idea is very creative and different, making it a fun new experience. The final boss is difficult, but it's a fun difficult, not rage-quit type difficult. This is definitely one of the best games I have EVER played. A sweet upside is also that you can completely customize and re-customize your character at any time. Wanna switch to a different gender? You can do that anytime you want. Wanna change eye color? You can do that anytime you want. Wanna change clothes and outfits ten times a day? the amount of accessories in the game make that completely possible. The bundle comes with a little card with a code on it for you to download Splatoon from the Nintendo eShop. I had hoped there would be a physical disk, but since Nintendo is good about making sure all your purchases are kept on your Nintendo profile so you don't lose them if something happens to your system, I'm pretty happy with that. Overall, I personally think this system and game are worth the price. I have had hours upon hours of fun with it, and will continue to because this game STILL hasn't gotten boring!

Great system
||Posted .I had been thinking about getting a next gen console for awhile and given the Wii U's incredible exclusives, low price, no subscription fees, and being the only next gen console to support backwards compatibility, I decided to go ahead and buy spatloon bundle. So far I must say, I liked Nintendo's old Wii better but one of the best things about the Wii U is you can play all your old Wii and Virtual Console games on the Wii U. Even the old Wii controllers work with certain Wii U games which is awesome! (If a developer wanted to, they could make a full HD game with the Wiimote and Nunchuk controller.) I think it's a shame so many games use only the Wii U Gamepad. The eShop has an easy to use interface and a great selection of digital games, indie games, and classic retro games. (The humble bundle just recently wrapped up its first ever console bundle for the Wii U!) The Wii U also has its own social network called Miiverse. You can post drawings you make on the gamepad and screenshots from games if you want which is way more fun than I expected. I've already spent countless hours doodling posts on the gamepad. The Wii U Gamepad in my opinion hasn't done a lot in games but it's been wonderful for navigating the internet, Netflix, Youtube, Miiverse, and even doubling as a TV remote (which I lost years ago). I prefer it that way though I don't want a lot of gimmicky in game uses for the touch screen. There are a few things that bug me about Wii U. Amiibo for example, like all DLC, they just seem to break up finished games to ultimately sell off for more separately. Only having one Wii U Gamepad per system is another issue for me but only because I know this will make it a pain to try and replace the gamepad years from now. Also I'd love to use the Wii U Pro Controller in Wii mode but I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Wanna Sploon?
||Posted .I bought the Nintendo Wii U Splatoon Bundle since it's highly difficult to find a Wii U that isn't bundled with a game nowadays. Splatoon is a new I.P. from Nintendo and is great fun in both the online multiplayer and single player campaign modes. Since the release of the game, there have been regular updates adding additional content to the game, new weapons like the Ink Brush, and Splash-O-Matic and releasing a new map as well. I'm sure there will be many more updates in the future. The online turf war is great fun for casual players, but ranked mode at level 10 or higher adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay, a fierce battle ensues in the splat zones making it perfect for more hardcore players. ...and lets not forget that epic final boss, it surprised me honestly!

Great Bundle that Brings Back the Fun in Gaming
||Posted .The BestBuy exclusive Wii U Splatoon bundle is a great way to get back into fun, lighthearted gaming. These days so many games try for dark and gritty on the other gaming consoles. It's refreshing to have a console that has a library of games that take you back to just having fun. It's been nostalgic for me getting the Wii U. The bundled game, Splatoon, is fantastic. It's Nintendo's take on the online multiplayer shooter genre. Really imaginative gameplay combined with the theory of rewarding game mode objectives over kill count. It's simple. You paint the ground with ink. Though it is primarily an online multiplayer game, it does have a single player mode. It's worth playing through to get some unlockable weapons and the boss fights are super fun and unique. Nintendo has also been very solid in supporting the game since release with what seems like weekly updates to add more weapons, stages, and game modes. Ages 4 to 40. It matters not. You will have fun. It should be noted that the bundled Splatoon game is a digital download (you do not get a physical disc in the box). The console has 32 GB of space that is expandable via external USB storage device. This is great for downloading games from the Nintendo eShop. They offer current Wii U titles, but also give you the chance to play older games originally released for Nintendo's older consoles (NES, SNES, N64, Wii, etc). It also has great support for playing Gameboy and DS games through the eShop with multiple options to choose how you want the Wii U to display the screens. The Wii U is directly backwards compatible with the Wii, so you can use the Wii games and controllers. The Gamepad that comes with the Wii U has a large touchscreen display that can be used instead of the TV for supported games. For example, you can use it to play games and not tie up the TV for others in your household. The Gamepad is rechargable, and comes with a nice charging stand. 4-5 hour battery life is plentiful for most play sessions. The Wii U has one output, HDMI. That's it. So while this probably isn't an issue for most people, it should be noted that if you don't have a TV with HDMI, you are out of luck. I was able to get this bundle on sale which really increased it's value even more for me. This is simply a must have console if you want to play the Nintendo brand games. You can't get Mario and Zelda anywhere else, and they look stunning in 1080p. The Virtual Console and Nintendo eShop makes this console a virtual time machine allowing you to re-live some of your fondest gaming memories as a child, and share them with your own children. Highly recommend this to anyone.

Good game, good bundle
||Posted .Splatoon is Nintendo's newest IP, and is a largely online pvp focused game. Really fun, though sometimes the connection can be a bit choppy (might be my net though, but games on PC never get that way) so be aware of that possibility. Despite the Multiplayer shooter focus, the single player was very fun too featuring many mechanics and more platformer focus as you fight against the Octarians. Took me about 11 hours straight to complete, given also getting used to controls- more than expected for the single player. Multiplayer is fairly fleshed out currently with a good amount of gear, Turf War game mode where you try to cover the map, and one Ranked battle so far that plays like King of the Hill. More content gets released periodically, including new maps, weapons, and game modes. This bundle is the cheapest way to get both a new copy of Splatoon and a Wii, so if you want both new, best buy's bundle is the way to go. Noteworthy that Splatoon is a digital download code, not on disc. Nintendo land was also digital, but preinstalled. Overall a very good bundle.

Extra Extra, read all about it!
||Posted .Before I give a review, keep in mind I am biased. I am loving this console, I picked it up from "Best Buy" and it came with a download code for the full version of "Splatoon". I had also bought "Smash Bros." and "Mario Kart 8" in advance. Since then I've been enjoying my 3 games as well as "Nintendo Land" that comes on the system. I feel this was a great buy, if you love Nintendo, and you love MOBAs with claim territory rules, you will be thrilled with this, if you like only one of those then you will still enjoy it a lot and I recommend getting this console and game. But when you get a console I do also recommend picking up a few other games to fill the time that you don't happen to feel like splatting the competition.

Great but not splatoon decorated
||Posted .We love our Wii U! I especially love the "off tv" function so that I can still play most games (not Splatoon) if someone else is using the tv or playing on a different console. There are plenty of great games for the Wii U and it plays all Wii games (and uses all Wii accessories) so there is no shortage of great fun. We are really loving Splatoon right now. It is so addictive and satisfying to ink everything up. We do wish the local multiplayer was better... it only has a balloon challenge with one on the tv and one on the gamepad and doesn't feature turf wars for two people on the same console (no split screen). And I personally wish the gamepad was decorated with a Splatoon theme like the Zelda bundle was, currently it is just a plain black console and gamepad which is ok, but since it was a Splatoon bundle I really would have enjoyed a fun gamepad. Overall, we are very happy and haven't had any problems with the console/accessories or download code. The online order and store pick up was quick and easy.
