We are a Nintendo family, and have owned just about every Nintendo console since the NES. If you are a pure gamer that loves major action games (Call of Duty, Halo, etc) this system is not what you are looking for. But if you are looking for a fun console for family or to entertain a lot of kids (even teenagers and young adults) the Wii U is a great console. My kids (both in their early 20's) have been inviting friends over to play Mario Kart 8, Nintendo Land, Super Smash Brothers, and our old Wii's Mario Party game. They've been having an absolute blast and its great watching them and their friends having some great times with this.

I picked this bad boy up on Thanksgiving night and I have yet to have any issues. Splatoon and Smash Bros. will keep you busy. Miiverse and online play is pretty great. The console is exactly the quality I expect from Nintendo. I know what you're thinking... "Nintendo has lost their touch and Microsoft and Sony are just doing it all better." But let me tell you why you're wrong... The 3rd party support isn't the greatest, but what Nintendo offers that Microsoft and Sony don't is a unique and fun experience, designed to push the limits of gaming. They aren't as concerned with graphics, but don't let that deter you. This console goes up to 1080p (all games support it) so you are getting the same beautiful graphics as your Xbox One and PS4. No other console let's you do what you can with your controller. Nintendo is years ahead of the others with an adaptive touch-screen controller with some buttons for those who require that experience. A long battery life and high-res screen. Anyway, the game selection is great even among the first-party titles and the community Nintendo has been cultivating. My only issue with this console is that it comes with Super Smash Bros and Splatoon installed on a 32 GB hard drive which is nothing for Splatoon, but Smash Bros plus the pre-installed software take up a majority of the space. However, the Wii U allows you to reformat your own personal USB external drives to store games and DLC digitally.So technically this console has as much memory as you need it to have... Smash Bros is exactly what you expect and want. Splatoon is highly addictive, clever, and a ton of fun. I'm so glad I got the Wii U. It's a ridiculous deal to get two full games plus a console for under $300.
