I'll just go ahead and admit that I'm not a Sleater-Kinney superfan. In fact, I don't own any of their other albums, and I'm not sure I've ever listened to a full album other than this one. However, a friend linked me to the album which was being hosted on NPR for a short time, and I immediately went to pick it up. It's bombastic and fun to listen to, and while some other bands struggle to remain relevant over the years, maybe S-K's austere release schedule has helped them in this regard; this album will immediately strike you as fresh and relevant

From the opening moments of Price Tag till the closing moments of Fade you will be bouncing off the walls. This a the return of one of Americas greatest rock bands and treasures in full force. 33 minutes of pounding, danceable, and energetic punk rock with sass. You will be pushing repeat over and over again. The Twin Guitar and Vocal assault of Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstien along with the powerhouse drumming of Janet Weiss will stay with you and haunt you in a good way.

Let's cut to the chase: I thought this was a good album, and a surprising treat given it's been ten years since Sleater-Kinney released their last effort, The Woods. That being said, I don't see it as being quite worthy of the hype it's received, including an 8.7 score from Pitchfork. I suspect diehard Sleater-Kinney fans will be overjoyed with this album's very existence, while other fans who have perhaps respected but not loved the band will not have their minds changed.

The period of inactivity for the members of Sleater Kinney as a unit did nothing to hamper their sound. If anything, the 10 years between this new album and 2005's "The Woods" made them hungrier, ready to blow your ears off. From start to finish, this one will shake your speakers with pure adrenalin. Every song comes at you full throttle. Highly recommended to anyone who likes it when women can rock as hard or harder than the guys.

Ten years of silence since the Woods. Ten years of wondering, will they or won't they ever give it another go? All doubts have been laid to rest. Not only are they back, but they seem to have picked up right where they left off. Once again, Sub Pop delivers classy digi-paks. This album doesn't come close to overstaying its welcome. At a brisk 30 minutes, you're left craving more. Here's some advice: just push play.

Sleater-Kinney have a unique sound and know how to rock in a world of music today where that is a lost art. Great driving drums. Great guitars and vocals with that slight minor key. Its the vocals and overall sound like no one else that makes them so great. Ande its just great to have a girl band that can really rock.

A really good album. You can tell how much they all enjoy playing with each other. Lots of energy. Well written songs. Excellent musicianship. Good album to own for those who have never heard of Sleater Kinney before to see what all the fuss is about.
