    Synopsis

    Non-Stop
Liam Neeson reunites with Unknown director Jaume Collet-Serra) for this airborne thriller about an Air Marshal racing to stop the villain who has framed him as a hijacker during a non-stop flight from New York to London. From the moment we first meet Air Marshal Bill Marks (Neeson), it's apparent his nerves are frayed. After furtively knocking back a stiff drink in the airport parking lot, he enters the crowded terminal to board a plane bound for London. Carefully observing his fellow travelers along the way, Marks eventually ends up seated next to nervous flyer Jen (Julianne Moore), who begins to breathe easier once she's seated near a window. Later, as the plane hits cruising altitude, Marks receives a mysterious text message stating that a passenger on the flight will be killed every 20 minutes unless $150 million is deposited into a secure bank account. But the harder Marks works to identify a suspect, the deeper he implicates himself in what becomes a deadly hostage crisis unfolding at 30,000 feet over the Atlantic Ocean. When it's revealed that the account for the ransom money is in Marks' name, the FAA revokes his marshal status and the media paints him as a hijacker. As the frightened passengers begin to turn on Marks, he suspects the true culprit may not even be on the plane. And with the help of Jen and perceptive airline hostess Nancy (Michelle Dockery), he attempts to clear his name and protect the passengers by any means possible. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This is a non-stop thriller with plenty of action, suspense, murder, and fights. Liam Neeson plays a drunk and depressed air marshal superbly. He is on a six hour flight from New York to England flying in first class. He receives a text message on his phone from a passenger who he is unable to identify until the end of the film. The person knows all about Neeson the air marshal and his daughter. He demands one hundred and fifty million dollars or he will kill a passenger every twenty minutes. Although others could not see it, this man knew that Neeson was smoking in the plane bathroom. The person on the phone is smart and manipulative. He is able to manipulate people on the ground and passengers on the plane to think that Neeson is hijacking the plane, including setting it up that the money would go to an account in Neeson’s name. Neeson needs to stop the hijacker, find out how people are being killed, what does the person want to harm him, and if the person is doing what is being done for the money or a different reason.

We are BIG Liam Neeson fans, and that's what prompted us to purchase this DVD. It's a good "escape" movie for those nights when there's nothing else to watch. Neeson, as usual, does a magnificent job in his role as a troubled air marshall. But some of the plot turns were "strange" and almost ruined and took away from what was otherwise a good movie. We will give the director "thumbs-up" for misleading us who the "bomb" culprit is on the plane. Just when we figured out "who" it was, there was a twist, and those on a couple of turns took away the believability factor. We don't want to ruin the outcome for anyone, so we will leave it at that. Finally, we weren't disappointed that we bought this DVD.

This is a frame up movie which frames an air marshal for a hijacking. Everything points to him: motive, actions, reactions etc. It is a whodunit and a GOOD movie until you start unraveling the picture and it makes sense, but highly unlikely. The process of unraveling is fascinating, but after you find out what happened, then the story becomes highly unlikely and pretty far fetched. Too much detailed planning and luck. Good for a Saturday night rental, but not something I would recommend seeing over and over. Acting is solid and the passengers reactions are PERFECT, but the masterminds are too far fetched and needed lots of money and planning to pull it off.

Overall, this was a good movie that I/d definitely watch again, although a few things about it annoyed me - hence the 4 star, and not 5 star, rating. I did not care much for the special effect where he grabbed the gun in mid air on the plane as it was crashing, I thought that was super corny. What really bugged me, though, is how they kept on trying to make this emotional (spoiler alert) with the constant reminder of his daughter dying and him being a drunk, which then became the basis for accusing him as the plane's hijacker. The story had room for improvement.

I found Non-Stop to be a well-crafted action movie. I thought it was a better action film than Taken, and its' sequel Taken 2. i thought the premise was interesting, and Liam Neeson, is well, Liam Neeson. well acted, it seemed to be very-well paced. Without giving too much away, here goes: People on a plane are in danger, and will be systematically killed if demands aren't met. The best action movies are the ones where it seems impossible odds to overcome. And the better the villain(s), the better the film. Non-Stop succeeds on all phases.

I wasn't real sure about how creative any director/cast can do when confining the plot to a long aluminum tube, but I like Liam Neeson and his career rebirth as an action star so I too a chance. It is an excellent movie with a great cast, though I'm used to Anson Mount on TV so it was almost hard to recognize him in this. The story is involving and while probably not that plausible, it is a great adventure ride with a flawed hero doing what flawed hero's do. This is the kind of movie Bruce Willis should be making!

You can never go wrong with a Liam Neeson film. However, this film deviates a bit from his typical movies; it's not overrun with action and violence. But it's no disappointment, by any means. Non-stop is full of non-stop suspense and keeps you guessing throughout the entire film. More importantly, it reflects upon our society and the power of social media. Liam Neeson delivers a performance that not only keeps you engaged for the duration of the film, but is memorable long after. Non-stop is worth the watch.
