I sent for the flavor sugars & they are the greatest for the machine. It takes a little practice to make it the way you want it. I prefer it very light & fluffy & I learned how to make it perfect. I also like to store it for a few days so I keep the machine going untill I fill many plastic zip-lock baggies. It keeps just fine when you keep the air away from it. You will learn the tricks to make the candy your way. You MUST heat the machine before hand & turn it off when you add the sugar in the spinner cup (DON'T DROP or BUMP THAT CUP, it will bend & wobble). Flip it back on quickly & let it spin. Let it spin some cotton before you scoop it onto your 'stick'. When no more cotton is making, turn switch off & fill the spinner cup & flip it back on. Everyone in our 3 generations family just loves it. Have a little, have a lot. I haven't tried adding the small pieces of hard candy yet. When you make a lot of the cotton there will be a ring of hard candy around the big bowl. We break it into pieces and suck on it for hard candy. You can also break it in smaller bits and run it thru the machine again. I buy this machine for gifts, you can't go wrong.

My kids love it. Who can argue with that?

This is a fun toy. Yes, a toy. You can make cotton candy with it but it's not very much at one time. You put hard candies/candy in the center piece and it spins around and melts until it spins the cotton candy. My kids love to sit there with a flashlight in one hand and the cotton candy wand and watch for the strings to appear. My kids are 8 and 11 and do a decent job spinning the wand (or whatever you wanna call it) so the candy gets on to the stick, but they struggled early on to not bonk it into the side making the candy hard and not cotton-y at all. But they play with it a lot and really enjoy wowing their friends when they come over. It was a great event for about 5 kids to all participate in and watch and eat and play. They always have fun trying new flavors and playing with this toy.

    Read the directions

Most people that have problems with this machine don't seem to be reading the directions. Clean up is simple and the machine never gets clogged if you read the directions about cleaning. Making cotton candy takes a little practice. The directions say wait 5 minutes if using hard candy, If you wait 10 minutes the machine works even better. Twisting the floss around the tube does take a little practice until you can make fluffy cotton candy. But once you get the hang of it the texture is just like what you get at the fair. The amount of candy with 2 candies is not as large as you get at the fair but if you do 2 at a time several times in a row you will get a large serving of cotton candy. Different hard candies have different yields. Sugar free life savers and sugar free Jolly ranchers work the best so far but have had success with sugar free root beer disks, butterscotch and peppermint.

I bought this on sale for $29.99 after Christmas (It is normally $49.99) so I thought I was getting a pretty good deal on it. We used to have a Cotton Candy machine and it worked awesome. You got quit a bit of cotton candy when it made a batch. But we just didn't use it that often so I got rid of it in a garage sale. That was a few years ago. I figured they would be better and more advanced now in this technical world we live in. Also it said on the box that you could use hard candy to make the cotton candy with. I was excited to get it home and try it out. But it did not live up to my expectations. It doesn't allow you to put more than 2 pieces of candy ( jolly ranchers for example) and you hardly get any cotton candy out of it. And right before it finally starts making the cotton it makes this noise and starts spitting out these little chunks that splatter against the side of the bowl and then you start seeing the silky strands of cotton candy. I am pretty disappointed in this product and would not recommend it and definitely not for 50.00. I wouldn't have spent 30.00 on it had I known it would perform like this.

I was pleasantly surprised. First cotton candy we made was with hard candy. I had no idea you could do that, and it also works with sugar free hard candy. But, the real reason I purchased it was for my daughter's birthday party. It was set up like a mini concession stand along with a snow cone machine and popcorn maker. Overall, it went well. Two things to keep in mind... It takes time to make them, about 3-5 min per cone, which can be tough when you have a dozen kids on-line and you have to clean it out on a regular basis which is not hard. The other thing it that this kit comes with practically nothing except two plastic, reusable cones and a stick. If you plan to use it with more than two people, I recommend buying some paper cones and some floss sugar flavors, unless you plan on just using hard candy.

Every think of buying a cotton candy machine to fulfill those late night cravings? Well my friend, this machine is for you! Without going into a long and boring review, I'll hit the bullet points: Pros: 1. Easy setup: plug and play (do however let the machine warm up!) 2. Spins Sugar Floss very well. Spins chopped up Jolly Ranchers even better! 3. Compact and lightweight. Cons: 1. Takes awhile to heat up and getting a cone made up will take some time. 2. The bowl can gum up after awhile making it hard to collect the cotton candy. 3. Taking the top off to clean can be difficult. Long story short, its a great little machine. Can it pump out the volume of a traditional cotton candy machines you see at Fairs or Food trucks? Of course not. But for the price point and convenience, its a good deal.

I love this machine and had a very enjoyable snow day with my three kids and two of their friends! I think when purchasing this machine you should have realistic expectations. If you want circus or carnival size cotton candy, then this is not the machine for you! It does however spin just the right amount for a fun time for you to spend with your kids! We used yummy earth organic lollipops and the flavors were amazing!!!! We crushed them up in a ziploc bag and scooped them into the hot zone! We made 6 batches of cotton candy without any clogging issues and the machine was very easy to clean after its use. We have already made plans to do it again...hopefully after SCHOOL tomorrow!

    Great gift!

I received this Cotton Candy Machine as an xmas gift and I am very satisfied. It's very simple to use. Place a couple pieces of your favorite hard candy and tasty cotton candy is born! The instructions recommend adding only 2 pieces of candy at a time which limits the amount of cotton candy you can make; but other than that, I have no complaints. The clean up is a cinch since you can easily take it apart. My husband and I have experimented with all sorts of hard candy and flavors. Lifesavers (fruit-flavored) seem to work the best. Cinnamon flavored hard candy works well too and tastes great. Now I'm on the search for cotton candy flavored hard candy.
