NVIDIA - GeForce RTX 3090 24GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card - Titanium and black

The 3090 was made for enthusiasts who crave the best of the best, even if the price/performance ratio is unjustified. To say the 3090 founders edition is huge is an understatement. You can't know how big this card truly is until you see and hold it in person. Assuming you have the funds (and case clearance) I totally recommend pulling the trigger if you manage to find one in stock. As for as performance, it is obviously a beast. I paired this with an i9 10900k. I play everything at 4K 120hz on my new OLED LG CX48. The HDMI 2.1 connectivity is amazing and allows for 4K, 120fps, gsync, and HDR all at once. From playing many different games (old and recent) at max settings at 4K I can tell you that 10GB (what the 3080 has) won't always cut it in all scenarios. Many recent games, especially those that don't feature DLSS, use 10+GB with everything maxed at 4K 12Ohz. It is a very good feeling to know that I'll be sitting pretty for quite some time with a hefty 24GB of vram. I'm even playing around with scaling 4K to 200% to simulate 8K gaming and I have maxed the vram out in quite a few titles. It's fun. I've got to mention the awesome build quality too. Each of the 30 series founders cards are both beautiful and functional with their striking new design. My temps typically stay in the low to mid 70s with the 3090's flow through design and the sound is actually less noticeable than my old 2080ti XC ultra. Even if AMD's upcoming 6900xt ends up outperforming the 3090 (which I doubt), I'm still partial to Nvidia's rtx, gsync, and dlss tech since they pioneered all of it.

Needless to say, this card is an absolute BEAST! I was finally able to get one at the beginning of this year from Best Buy. I was originally going to try and purchase a 3080, but had absolutely zero luck for months. When I saw this in stock on January 5th though, I decided to take the plunge and haven't looked back. I've had it for a few months now and thought it was about time to review. PROS: -This thing rips and tears through every game I've tried to play so far at 4k resolution and beyond, frequently going well beyond 100 fps even at that resolution. I play MSFS 2020 often and even in heavily intense areas it still manage to get over 50 fps at 4k with everything maxed out, which is far more than enough for this sim. Other games like GTA V and even RDR2 feel like a joke at this point, but I'm not complaining. I literally ran Forza Horizon 4 at 8k and recorded it with zero issues and stuck at 60 fps pretty much the whole time. Absolutely insane... -Ray Tracing is definitely way faster and far more mature in this generation compared to before. It is finally justifiable to turn on RTX and not have to worry about losing all my frames. -Rendering some random stuff out in Blender is much faster than it used to be and allows me to tinker more, although I don't use Blender too much. -It stays cool and quiet for the most part (see cons), only reaching a maximum of 65°C on the core under full load, with plenty of room to spare for overclocking. -The build quality is fantastic. Everything from the backplate to the shroud and even the fans are made of metal and it's very heavy, which gives the product as a whole a very premium look and feel to it that you rarely see on any other GPUs out there. The I/O bracket is very strong as well and this card has absolutely zero sagging issues despite its immense weight. -Much easier to disassemble than most previous Founders Edition GPUs. CONS: -The memory on this card gets HOT! The stock thermal pads can't handle the memory on this card at all. I was frequently hitting temps in excess of 105°C and have seen 110°C before. Now, I say "was" because I have recently replaced the stock thermal pads (between the memory and backplate) with some much better ones from Thermalright (image attached). After the mod, my memory temps have dropped an average of 10-15°C! Even the core got a bit cooler too! Now, the memory usually runs in the mid 90s and hasn't touched 100° since I replaced the pads, even with a +1000MHz memory overclock and increased power limits. I highly recommend doing this mod for yourself should you buy this card. -Lots of electrical noise out of the box, particularly coil whine. This has gotten a good bit quieter after a few months of use, but it's still present and noticeable. Not too big of a deal though, since I usually have headphones on. -The included dual 8 to 12pin adapter is very bulky and pretty ugly in my opinion (see images). -RGB isn't that easy to control, and it is not diffused too well in the V-shaped RGB section behind the passthrough fan.

First, I need to give props to Best Buy: Thank you for keeping these at MSRP price, we truly appreciate this as GAMERS. Secondly, this is perhaps the most exciting GPU for me in the last couple of years I have been building gaming RIGS. Can't say I have ever camped outside a Best Buy the night before for ANYTHING! Not even for a Black Friday sale! But for this BFG, my only viable option was to camp the night before an inventory drop as paying 100% over MSRP is just plain ridiculous. On games: I play Call of Duty and Battlefield at 1440p, on 35 inch ultra-wide screens. This card is off the charts on performance, FPS and gaming experience. I've never experienced this performance before. Truthfully, you can experience great gaming on a 3080 or 3080 TI too, however, that would be boring and with this, you get an extra 5-10% on performance. EVERYTHING is just SMOOTHER, CLEANER, NO DRAMA in my opinion and experience so far. Upgraded from a 1080Ti. I was struggling to maintain 1440p 144hz in certain titles and felt impressed with the performance from the 3080 and 3090. Why 3090? I picked the 3090 since I tend to upgrade every other generation and I felt that the 3080 was not a good option for that due to it only having 10gb of VRAM. I’ve been enjoying +80% gains in some titles as well had the option to let the cards massive vram limit stretch its legs with heavily modded games. Design & Size. The card is pretty massive compared to my older MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X. I would 100% check the dimensions of your case to ensure that it will fit. The card takes 3 slots meaning it is highly likely that one of your 1x slots might get covered. 350w Oh My! At stock this card draws a large amount of power. Although the cooler is impressive it struggles when pushing it above 350w. I would highly recommend undervolting due to the impressive performance gains and power saving it provides. I got this card on launch because I wasn’t able to get a 3080 but so far I haven’t regretted my purchase. This thing is massive, almost comically huge. Temps stay around 68c playing Valhalla 4k@120hz maxed out. Cyberpunk 2077 runs like a dream and I’m happy I was able to experience this game at its full potential. My only gripe is that my card has some leftover molding on the fins behind the fan that I had to removed but it pulled off with tweezers. I only docked quality for this reason. So far the card runs very quiet aside from some coil whine, which most GPU’s have. I paired this with a 48” LG CX and ever since they resolved the gsync issues it’s been an absolute dream to play on. This card is costly and to be 100% honest you’d probably get enough out of a 3080 but they simply aren’t in stock at the moment so I’d much rather pay more for a 3090 than contribute to scalpers on a 3080 at the same cost. Either way I’m happy with my purchase so far and it’s nice having the extra headroom for cooling. I added a photo of an EVGA 3090 XC3 next to this thing to show how huge it is.

The 3090 FE is stunning from the moment you open the box. It’s build quality is top tier and the performance is absolutely insane. Amazing graphics card. Insanely powerful at both games and workloads. Definitely the card for the "money is no object" gamer. Mine overclocks well and easily achieves 60fps+ in the superposition 8k optimized benchmark all while the cooler has the capability to keep the card lower than 58c at all times, with custom fan curves. Achieved 22000 graphics score in timespy. At maximum power load the card will draw so much power as to audibly slow the fans down when near 100% fan speed. Maximum draw from the wall that I've witnessed while stressing GPU and CPU simultaneously was 705 watts. This card is without a doubt the heaviest graphics card I've ever seen. At the same time GPU sag is nonexistent. The card is so rigid that 3 screws for the 3 slots the card occupies holds it rigid and straight. My case (H500M) has built in graphic card support that is useless with this card. Adjusting it to touch the bottom of the card, it has none of the cards weight resting on it. Excuse the attached picture's RGB, I had just broken my lighting scheme (all red) before installing the card.

Absolutely amazing card. Do not waist your time with the 3080 ti (way over priced). I’m running this on a 48” lg oled and it runs everything at 120 fps (tv max frame rate). The build quality is the best I have ever seen with a gpu. The card is a beast… HUGE! Get a gpu bracket/support bracket for added long term security and pease of mind. Having this said, there was no sag when I installed this card. Shocking since my 1070 and 1080 both sagged. Got to the store at 5am to pick up this card. I was happy to see they passed out tickets per card. Therefore, I knew before getting in side the store the card I wanted was available.
