Bought for Gamestream

Quality5 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5Pros mentioned:4k support, Gaming, RemoteCons mentioned:LagNot gonna lie, I bought this mainly for gamestream, then as streaming device second. Gamestream is a headache to setup but once you have 1) really good gaming rig, 2) fix whatever bugs there are, this is capable of gamestreaming 4k60 even with a very fast 5ghz wifi (I have Ac3150 beamforming router with AC1900 beamforming capable card on the rig). So far I've played Rocket League, a few Assassin's Creed games, and tried Battlefield V Campaign for the lol. Stutters only come if someone walks through the hallway between the router and the office where the Desktop is situated. Aside from that, the 4k60 stream is excellent and the wireless xbox360 gamepad input lag is bearable to singleplayer games. Don't bother trying on games that require no input lag at all. The AI Upscale is a pleasant surprise and Netflix standard streaming looks like a legit 4k stream. Compared to when I stream directly from my Smart TV. On the other hand, my 4k HDR streams from Disney Channel is working flawlessly with my HDR capable TV. On another note, my Dolby digital sound is going through the the shield, then to TV then to TV's HDMI ARC connected to a samsung Dolby 5.1 Soundbar + wireless soundwoofer & rear speakers. So I can attest that Dolby passthrough works. Not sure about Dolby atmos though. It is also good for running android games or if you subscribe, Nvidia's GeForce Now. Also, the price is pretty high up there so the only worth it specs from this device is the gamestream and the AI upscale. If you can't justify that cost, you should try looking at other cheaper streaming device then. Side note, turn on HDMI-CEC on the shield and your tv. This will allow you to turn on the Shield, the TV and the Sound bar all at the same time with just the Shield's remote. Also, turn on the HDMI-CEC volume control (alongside in the TV settings). I only need the Shield's remote through this setting to turn on, and even mute and adjust volume.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5If you have fast internet a 4k tv and a decent sound bar you want this. The upscaling alone makes this worth it. I was using ps4 for streaming and everything else. I still love my ps4 but shield tv is much more versatile in terms of content and connectivity. I still haven't really scratch the surface. I do have a few cons though, mainly having to do with customization which is something android is known for so hopefully we will see more options down the road.

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I love my Nvidia Shield TV Pro ~ In the past I've purchased the Fire Stick , Fire TV Cube and MIBOX but the best out of all of them was the Nvidia Shield TV Pro ~ Take my advice if you don't have the money right now save and be happy of the purchase instead of regretting the decision 2 or 3 months down the line of one of the other purchases

Nvidia Streaming Supremacy?
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5I have been looking at the Nvidia Shield for a looooong time and finally decided to buy it as a birthday present for myself. I have several streaming devices in my house from Roku, Google, AirTV, and Xfinity. The main things that attracted me to the Shield are Dolby Atmos support in Netflix, built in Chromecast, and the AI upscaling. All of my favorite apps work - Pandora, Hoopla, Peacock, YouTube TV, and Disney +. I am still figuring out the various features but am not sold on the upscaling as it seems to over sharpen most of the source material. Time will tell if my opinion grows stronger but I like most of what I've seen from this device.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I like manycut cableba few years ago. I mainly used firesticks but had issues with buffering and loosing internet connection. At the end of 2019 i purchased this device for my main tv and has been beyond pleased with its performance and quality. I thought of the long term investment and ditched the firestick for my 2nd tv and made this purchase in Dec 2020. Im glad i did and would highly recommend anyone that cut cable or simply looking for a streaming device to go with this quality device over a cheap product.

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:4k support, Remote, SpeedI'm not a gamer I purchase this for streaming Movies and TV Shows.I must say the 4k picture quality is great that without the upscaling turn on.Easy set up althought I dislike the keyboard that could be improved,as I stated before I'm not a gamer so I can't speak on that part off this device but I heard it was great also according to the reviews on (YT).As for Download and Streaming speeds we know that depends on your service provider and the tier of mbps you have with them although it seen Streaming does work faster with my NSTVP. The player looks great and the control remote feel good your hand.

Q: QuestionUsing an external drive off of the USB port, can we use Plex to categorize and watch/listen to movies/music like we can if the files are stored on an internal hard drive?
Asked by TucsonToad.
- A:Answer Yes, I bought the Shield to use as both a PLEX server and client. It took a little time for me to discover that unlike a PC I couldn’t just attach an External HDD to one of the Shield’s USB ports and instantly setup the PLEX server. I had to first format the HDD to Wipe the drive completely and merge the HDD with the Shield’s internal storage. The issue here is that once formatted on the Shield the External HDD will only work on the Shield (unless re-formatted for PC). This meant that I couldn’t remove the HDD from the shield, connect it to a PC and add media. That left me with an empty 4TB HDD while all of my media was still on my PC’s HDD. After lots of Googling/YouTubing I discovered that I’d have to first mount my PC as Network Storage to the Shield and then transfer my Media across the Network directly to the Shield. It works great now but it definitely took some time to figure out the process. There is a lot of conflicting information on the internet and especially YouTube. Hopefully this helps you avoid the same pitfalls I encountered.

Q: Question0MG.....has anyone seen the review chigz tech did on this new box yesterday?? This "NEW" shield appears to be the same box they released 2 years ago. As hard as he tried, he could not verify that ANY of the hardware had been upgraded. see the video!!!
Asked by rumbarrel.
- A:Answer Not true. This model has a newer Tegra chip and the unit is 25% faster than the older models. True not much else has changed but it is a faster processor. I have both models and I can definitely tell the difference in load times.

Q: QuestionDo I need the FireStick or the Cube to get Amazon Prime Video Services? If so Which one works best with NVidia Shield Pro - the FireStick or the Cube ?
Asked by Curious.
- A:Answer The shield is its own streaming unit that can also do a fair bit more. You can download the Prime Video channel on this just fine. No extra hardware required.

Q: QuestionI have skystream 3 now. Is this the same or better? Does it have Kodi?
Asked by goodie.
- A:Answer If you’re confused between the two consoles after having a closer look at their hardware, well, you only need to remember two things. Firstly, what do you need an Android home console for? Are you a streamer or a gamer? This question will usually help you make a choice between the two devices. The SkyStream III Plus is an exceptional product for the current market situation and fits in very nicely with the crop of Android running consoles available in the market. If you’re looking solely towards gaming, the Shield TV is a no-brainer really. It has all the features that would appeal to a gaming enthusiast along with the addition of the standard Android features like Google Assistant and the goodness of Android. NVIDIA is also pretty decent with updates, so you’ll have no trouble keeping this for a long time. By the way, I own a SHIELD 2019 model and its just awesome!
