Customers appreciate the superb sound quality, long battery life, and impressive bass of this portable Bluetooth speaker. Many also highlight its portability, thanks to features like a convenient handle and relatively light weight. Positive feedback also mentions the speaker's volume and Bluetooth range. While some comments discuss the size, overall customer sentiment is overwhelmingly positive.
I am very happy with this speaker. It has clear sound that can fill a room. Two tweeters, two midrange and one subwoofer. The woofer is directed upwards and the grills on both sides of the case are ports/tubes for the woofer. The ported design provides more bass from a woofer this size. You can clearly hear every note of a bass guitar and the overall sound balance is good. The bass isn't muddy and has punch, the midrange is clear and the highs are crisp. It isn’t listed in the manual but the speaker will time-out and sleep if no music is playing so it won’t drain the battery. NFC pairing is a nice touch for android users. The 5 LED battery level indicator is great and I wish more speakers included this feature. The built-in rechargeable battery has a large capacity for long playtime (10 hours) so it is great you can also use the speaker as a power-bank to charge your phone/device with the built-in USB port. Just plug in your phone and it starts charging. To recharge the speaker you must plug the AC adapter (comes with 4 interchangeable plugs) into a wall outlet (cannot charge the speaker using USB). The speaker includes a 3.5mm Aux-in just in case your sound source doesn’t support bluetooth. The cool thing is the speaker also includes a 3.5mm Aux-OUT so you can daisy-chain the Rebel with another speaker and crank it to 11. The handle on this Rebel isn’t very good. It isn’t a handle at all, not something you can grip. It is a finger-tip hold that doesn’t even reach your first knuckle. If the speaker will be left in one place all the time and only moved occasionally then you might not care but it certainly isn’t a speaker you would carry around like an old boombox. The backlit logo and buttons are way too bright. It is a nice touch having backlit buttons but they don’t time-out and dim and then wake when you touch a button like other speakers. No, these are full blast bright as long as the speaker is on. If your eyes are adjusted to a dark room at night the backlight is overkill and ruins your night vision. Absolutely no reason to be that bright. If I used this regularly in a dark room I would put several layers of painters or masking tape over the buttons to tone them down. It is difficult trying to show this with a picture because the camera adjusts the exposure to compensate. Overall it is a great sounding well built speaker with some nice features.

Ok - this thing is amazing! Prior to having received this, I'd never heard of the Nyne branding. I've got one go-to speaker that I've had for 5+ years now (which I use almost daily) and I use it as a basis for comparing all others (Logitech Boom). With that being said, let's get started: Packaging: The packaging for this product is REALLY nice! It definitely feels like you are getting the bang for your buck. To be honest, prior to having received this, I really didn't expect it to be as big as it is! Holy, cow, this thing is huge! Inside the box, it's pretty minimal. You get the speaker and a box of accessories. Accessories include the charging cable, which also included various snap on/off plug-ins for various international compatibility, which I thought was a nice touch. You also get a 3.5mm audio plug. Not too much to have to keep up with. My only issue with the overall packaging is the manual. It's one of those huge fold-out manuals which I entirely loathe. They're HUGE and contain 6+ languages and nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get folded back correctly. I've mentioned this in several of my other reviews and to me, is incredibly lazy. On the bottom of the speaker are 4 rubberized pads. This is nice, especially when sitting on a table or somewhere clean. However, I can see this getting dirty VERY easily and loosing it's grip after sitting on the ground/floor a few times, which obviously is what its designed for (it's a "party" speaker). Setup: This was a no-brainer. Having used a lot of bluetooth devices, this was a breeze. The speaker goes into search mode automatically once turned on and even auto-connects when it recognizes a previously paired device. However, I could never get the NFC bluetooth pairing to work. I have an iPhone 7 Plus and tried this, per the manual. No amount of tapping the phone to the NFC-designated part of the speaker worked. So, I just went in like normal - into the Bluetooth settings - and paired it. Speaker quality and functionality: The quality of the speaker is amazing. It also has more bass than I expected. My wife said it looked like a "mini amplifier", LOL. The entire speaker is made of a textured material, which feels like silicone. It has a speaker all across the middle of it, as well as two smaller ones on the sides. The top of the speaker has the Nyne logo, a power button, a phone button, music controls (play, pause, forward, back, etc) and a volume up/down button. The entire speaker is water/dust proof and shock resistant. It also has a really nifty feature of having a built-in handle underneath the top-back portion of the speaker, making is super easy to transport. The back panel swings down and has a waterproof seal behind it. Inside this panel is the charge port, an Aux port, Line Out port, USB port, a batter level indicator button and of course the charge LED's that show the current battery level or, when charging, how far it is to be complete. The only issue I had with this speaker was the volume. Unlike most bluetooth speakers, the volume of this one is independent of your phone volume. The first time I used it, I tried music. It was connected and although my phone was at max volume, hardly nothing was coming out of it. So, after about 15 minutes of troubleshooting and reviewing the manual, we started spamming the volume + button. That fixed it. So, now, I just set the volume on the speaker as loud as it will go, then adjust the max volume with my phone or whatever other device is connected to it. :-) The overall volume is impressive, given the size. However, it's not as loud as I expected it to be. Using it indoors is great, but outdoors, I can see the volume being an issue. I didn't realize until this was already on it's way to me, but there is another, bigger model called the Nyne Rock that supposedly pumps out the volume even more but is much bigger. I also toyed around with the phonecall functionality. I will say the the quality of the person coming out of the speaker is great and loud enough to hear well. However, any distance on my end of being anywhere besides right on top of the speaker, the caller said that I sounded very distant. Sadly, the overall volume of this speaker is about on par with the cylindrical one (the Boom) that I've had for years on my desk, which is much, much, much smaller. So, this, along with having to be right on top of the speaker for the other person to hear me on a call are the only reasons I've given this a 4 star instead of 5.

This modern day boom box, called the Nyne - Rebel Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a really nice unit for a modest price. It has plenty of bass. It has a huge battery. It has an input jack. It has an output jack. It can charge a device. It is durable. It is splash/dust proof. It has a built in handle. It has back-lit buttons. It has NFC for easy pairing via Bluetooth. It Rocks!!! I wish it charged via a usb cable and not it's proprietary charging cable. I wish it had a little better balance of highs to it's great bass response. Ultimately this unit was surprisingly well built with great bass. I would recommend it to a friend. The NFC is my favorite part of this device, making it uber easy to connect.
