Customers value the beautiful graphics and compelling story in Odin Sphere Leifthrasir - Storybook Edition. They also praise the satisfying and fluid combat system, along with the game's beautiful art style and enjoyable gameplay. Many appreciate this as a great remake of a classic. The positive feedback highlights the game's overall appeal to fans of action RPGs and 2D games.
Never played the original on the PS2. But after spending a short time with it, I came out very impressed. The game itself is solid. The artwork and visuals are absolutely beautiful. The translation seems to be spot on thus far. And the gameplay is surprisingly fun. Odin Sphere is a mix of platforming with a beat-em-up combat system, and topping it off with a RPG system to enhance the character further. Starting the game for the first time allows you to choose between English vocals or Japanese vocals. I opted to use the Japanese vocals to check with the translation. And it seems correct where I left off. The story is intriguing, with the first set of characters coming straight out of Norse mythology. I had to force myself to set the controller down in order to properly pace myself. Otherwise, I'd end up losing myself and spending hours on it. The Storybook Edition came with nice goodies that makes it worth the extra $20 spent. The printed box exterior has the game's world printed on the back. The steel slip-case is very pretty and cool. I have yet to look through the artbook. But as a collector, I probably won't ever look into it for a while or when I end up being curious about it. If you're unable to secure the Storybook Edition, then that's okay. Like any special edition, it's catered to the fans who want the extras. The game by itself is worth the entry price, especially since this is a HD remaster. I highly recommend picking this up.

Vanillaware are known for making great 2D hack n slash side scrollers. Odin sphere has great gameplay at the lost of repetition when you start going through all the characters. The art direction is hand drawn fantasy setting, a lot of colors and beautiful artwork. Gameplay is fluid and all the special moves you obtain syngerize very well with each other to create unique combos based on the player. Story is interesting and shows depth to each nation/characters motives, desires, goals, and cones full circle, I enjoyed the journey, only downside was you run through the same areas, just more difficult per character, which can be a turn off. Other than reused stages/enemies the game has plenty of replayability and has high degrees of polish, i'd recommend this to anyone interested in 2d side scrollers. *Played through all books, i'm at 50 hours still enjoying the game! Positives +Artwork and characters +High polished gameplay +Excellent difficulty scaling +Inuitive combo system/skills Negatives -Reused stages (about 7 or 8) -Reused boss/mid bosses and enemies -wanted more exploration stages

this game was a fantastically gorgeous game back when it was originally released. But now in HD it's a true spectacle. I had to get the collectors edition because the artwork was just so good. however the original did suffer from some things that felt like a chore such as planting seed and cooking, generally a lot of backtracking and grinding which made the game start to feel old half-way through. But now they added a more combo heavy style combat system that feels much less clunky than the original and unique special moves and an ability tree which you can gain new skills. this makes the game much less of a slog to go through however because of how long the game is (I estimate 50+ hours) it still carries the same issue as the previous game but much much less so.
