    • Effective Pixels: 12 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • General
    • Product Name: Tough TG-6 4K 3840x2160 12 Megapixel Digital Camera
    • Brand: Olympus
    • Model Number: TG6RED
    • Color: Red
    • Digital Camera Type: Point and Shoot Cameras
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Sensor Size: Other
    • Image Resolution (Display): 4000 x 3000 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Zoom Capability: true (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Digital Zoom: 2x (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • Optical Zoom: 4x (The optical zoom uses a combination of lenses that magnify the image prior to it being registered at high resolution by the imaging sensor.)
    • In-Camera Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. In-camera stabilization means the image sensor itself moves to counteract detected motion.)
    • Image File Format(s): RAW, JPEG (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
    • Eye Autofocus (Eye AF): false (Automatically seeks out and focuses on the subject's eye and holds it as the camera and subject move and as the photographer shoots at high frame rates.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/2000 (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Brightness Control: true (Allows the camera to adjust the brightness of a captured image for optimal exposure.)
    • Burst Mode: false (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Burst Rate: 20 frames per second
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 2 seconds, 12 seconds, Other
    • Shooting Modes: Landscape; portrait mode; beach/snow; landscape-portrait; children; fireworks; night landscape; panorama assist; sports mode; sunset; candle; e-portrait; handheld starlight; backlight correction HDR; portrait + nightscape; live composite (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
    • Panorama Mode: true
    • Scene Modes: Landscape; portrait mode; beach/snow; landscape-portrait; children; fireworks; night landscape; panorama assist; sports mode; sunset; candle; e-portrait; handheld starlight; backlight correction HDR; portrait + nightscape; live composite (Exposure modes with predetermined optimal settings for capturing specific scenes. Examples include Landcape, Portrait, and Sports modes.)
    • White Balance Modes: Fluorescent; sunlight; tungsten light; overcast; underwater (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 12 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • In-Lens Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. Lens stabilization means an element within the lens moves automatically to counteract detected motion.)
  • Flash
    • Flash Modes: Automatic, Fill-in, Manual override, Red-eye reduction, Off (The flash feature emits light to increase the brightness of a subject in dimly lit environments. Common modes include Auto and Red-Eye Reduction.)

Q: Does this camera come with the waterproof case??

A: The camera itself is waterproof to a certain depth (see specs). I only surface snorkel with it so no worries about the depth. There is an optional case you can purchase if you need greater depth and it is supposed to improve usability but it is very expensive. Other comments about this camera: I would recommend the optional lens cover that twists to open/close. It seems expensive for what it is but protecting the lens is important. Be aware the tiny button to start/stop recording movies is difficult to use. It is also not very obvious on the screen if it is recording a movie or not. I'm very satisfied with the picture quality and the GPS finds your location quickly.

Q: does this camera have date stamp option to show what day picture was taken?

A: Yes the TG-6 has a a DATE Stamp option. It can be enabled from "SHOOTING MENU 2" Please see Pg.*^ in the manual https://learnandsupport.getolympus.com/sites/default/files/media/files/2019/06/TG-6_ENU_00.pdf

Q: Are the GPS coordinates display on the photos when uploaded to the computer?

A: NO The GPS Coordinates do not appear in the Image area after downloading. The GPS info is stored in the EXIF data portion of the file which is visible if the program being used supports EXIF data

Q: What are the inclusions of this price? Is it only the camera itsef?

A: It comes with the camera itself, a strap, and a battery. You have to provide the SD card and case. It comes with a quick start guide but if you want the manual, you have to search online for it.

Q: Does this camera need a special lens for capturing photographs underwater? My GoPro needs special filters to capture the true colors underwater, so I'm just curious if this camera needs something similar, or if it works as is. Thanks in advance!

A: This will work with its regular lens in up to 50 Ft of water. Which is good for snorkeling or if your external housing leaks. However, I think its too easy to drop below 50 ft when diving to risk taking. For depths up to 200 ft there are several housings available from both Olympus and 3rd parties. These housings also include adapters for add on lenses and filters. This camera also has 3 preset under water white balance modes that will make an electronic color adjustment similar to that of an external filter

Q: Does this camera capture images in the dark with clarity?

A: In my opinion, this camera is not good for low light. It's main purpose is for underwater and tough sports. Also, it's macro capabilities are astonishing. I use other cameras for low light.

Q: What's the warranty like on this product? is it a olympus warranty?

A: All NEW Olympus cameras sold through Best Buy include a 1 year (from date of purchase) Olympus Warranty
