When running on high, not so quiet. It sounds like a gas stove. I filled it 7/8 full, on high at 6:30 pm and came to bed at 12:30 am and the tank was already at 1/4 full. I don't think it will stay running for 12 hours on high.

The first one I bought thru Amazon & it was dead out of the box. I decided to give it another try, but bought it thru Best Buy this time. It worked for about 10 days and then it died. Returned it & got another and so far it has worked great for a month now.

If you are patient, and don't mind jiggling the unit to drop some water you will get results for a little while. Then jiggle it again, and it will work for a while longer. Also, this unit has a very small hole for the water to go into which is not compatible with my water source.
