Not bad at all
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had low expectations but was pretty surprised at the quality of this toaster oven that was on clearance at Best Buy. The oven comes carefully packaged, with a manual, a crumb tray, a small rack, and a small tray to put on the rack. Setting uo the device is very easy -- remove the protective tape, drop in the trays and racks, and plug it in. That's about it. The device has a nice fit and finish. The stainless steel version doesn't look like junk, and it has a charming, retro kind of style. It isn't a luxury item, but it feels well made compared to the numerous toaster ovens I had over my lifetime. The dials don't feel flimsy and the door opens and closes nicely. It does not pull the rack out for you like fancier toaster ovens do, but I don't miss this feature at all. The device does get hot to the touch, so I made sure that it wasn't touching anything during use. It toasts bread and waffles and heats up things like it's supposed to, but it takes a couple times to get it to toast it just right. My wife had a tough time figuring out how to get things to toast, but other reviewers were helpful in explaining how this work. There are two dials. The top dial should be set to "toast." The tricky part is the bottom dial. It's like starting a car: Turn the bottom dial to "10" and then back to "light." The heating elements don't turn bright red, so you won't know it's working, but it is. The toast will look toasted. The edges of the bread tend to toast more than the middle of the toast. If you get the middle of the toast just right, the edges might be a bit too toasted. The second time you make toast, you can turn to "10" and then back to a slightly different setting depending on whether your first slice was brown enough or not. Then after that it becomes a habit and you won't even be thinking about it. The first time we used it there was a slight plasticky smell, but that went away right away. Overall, a great purchase for what I paid for it (about the price of two movie tickets) and I'd recommend it if you don't mind doing without some of the unnecessary bells and whistles that usually come with these things. I took off one star because toasting bread was just slightly more complicated than it needed to be, and it doesn't toast as evenly as it could. Otherwise, we're happy with it. We've had it for a month now. What we saved on buying this model will buy a wheelbarrow's worth of bread.

Tough little toaster over
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was time to upgrade from my old toaster oven that gave out about a year ago, and I was tired of the inconsistency that came from my microwave.I decided to go with this small toaster oven since I have limited counterspace in my kitchen. I realize it's not tiny at all but pretty standard and works very well. And it heats up quickly and cooks food thoroughly. The only drawback is that it takes a while to cool down on the inside and doesn't have an automatic shut off when the front door is opened. It continues to stay on and heat. But overall I'm satisfied with this toaster oven and I like the shiny black outside.

Good for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this oven to use while our computer controlled oven was replaced under warrantee- about 4 weeks. Toast comes out even top and bottom. The crust can burn first if you make only 1 slice. This oven will do 4 standard slices if the crust of each slice is hard up against the next, and if you can find 4 standard size slices. All the bread we get is at least 50% larger than standard. Two slices fit. The pan was small even for the oven. A single, simple aluminum pan comes with the oven. The pan is about 2 inches shorter than the oven is wide, and the sides are low. You can make steak for one if the meat is lean, We ended using our old enameled cast iron frying pan for our steak. I would recommended this oven for a single person only.

Good toaster oven but cannot handle 4 slices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for the price, cannot get 4 slices of bread in it without pushing them together. But if you want an inexpensive toaster oven for toasting this is the one to get. Fortunately I do not need to do 4 slices often enough to make a difference to us.

timer is useful, but not built sturdy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got it at BestBuy store because that is the only model on shelf. Cook and toast food fine. It has a timer to auto turn off (30 min max) and this is helpful so I won't have to watch when baking a small meal. The rack inside is crooked one side is higher than the other. The door does not feel sturdy but close right. The oven legs are not all even so I had to stick a cardboard under the back leg so the oven won't wobble. I know my counter is level correctly by using a bubble inside the rule to test. So the oven was not build to sit on the counter evenly. I use it to toast bread, warm up pop pie, etc. everyday and it does the job. Small size to fit on kitchen counter without taking up a lot of counter space.

Nice toaster
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good looking toaster, toasts quickly and is compact. I wish it was a bit bigger and the tray inside could be bigger. For the price you can't beat it and it gets the job done

Works well just can't read the dials
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace my microwave and toaster. It's kind of slow for heating toast, but it's not too bad. One thing I do not like is the lettering on the controls/dials is silver colored, on a silver background so even with my glasses on I can't read it. Plus, the light reflects off of the stainless steel which doesn't help (when trying to read). I should have returned it for this reason, but I don't like returning things so I'll live with it.
