I had low expectations but was pretty surprised at the quality of this toaster oven that was on clearance at Best Buy. The oven comes carefully packaged, with a manual, a crumb tray, a small rack, and a small tray to put on the rack. Setting uo the device is very easy -- remove the protective tape, drop in the trays and racks, and plug it in. That's about it. The device has a nice fit and finish. The stainless steel version doesn't look like junk, and it has a charming, retro kind of style. It isn't a luxury item, but it feels well made compared to the numerous toaster ovens I had over my lifetime. The dials don't feel flimsy and the door opens and closes nicely. It does not pull the rack out for you like fancier toaster ovens do, but I don't miss this feature at all. The device does get hot to the touch, so I made sure that it wasn't touching anything during use. It toasts bread and waffles and heats up things like it's supposed to, but it takes a couple times to get it to toast it just right. My wife had a tough time figuring out how to get things to toast, but other reviewers were helpful in explaining how this work. There are two dials. The top dial should be set to "toast." The tricky part is the bottom dial. It's like starting a car: Turn the bottom dial to "10" and then back to "light." The heating elements don't turn bright red, so you won't know it's working, but it is. The toast will look toasted. The edges of the bread tend to toast more than the middle of the toast. If you get the middle of the toast just right, the edges might be a bit too toasted. The second time you make toast, you can turn to "10" and then back to a slightly different setting depending on whether your first slice was brown enough or not. Then after that it becomes a habit and you won't even be thinking about it. The first time we used it there was a slight plasticky smell, but that went away right away. Overall, a great purchase for what I paid for it (about the price of two movie tickets) and I'd recommend it if you don't mind doing without some of the unnecessary bells and whistles that usually come with these things. I took off one star because toasting bread was just slightly more complicated than it needed to be, and it doesn't toast as evenly as it could. Otherwise, we're happy with it. We've had it for a month now. What we saved on buying this model will buy a wheelbarrow's worth of bread.

My initial impression was this unit runs hotter than my last Hamilton Beach model that bit the dust after approx 10 years. After using it for about a month, I'd still say that's true, but it toasts well ( Ihave to turn it a little past darker to get it it the way i like it. It bakes small batches of cookies well, and since you set a timer that shuts off the oven, I haven't burned any. The timer sounds like an old fashioned egg timer, but that doesn't bother me. My main motivation for buying this is that it was the least expensive toaster oven I could find. I'm on a tight budget, and it fits the bill price wise and does a good job as well.

We bought this oven to use while our computer controlled oven was replaced under warrantee- about 4 weeks. Toast comes out even top and bottom. The crust can burn first if you make only 1 slice. This oven will do 4 standard slices if the crust of each slice is hard up against the next, and if you can find 4 standard size slices. All the bread we get is at least 50% larger than standard. Two slices fit. The pan was small even for the oven. A single, simple aluminum pan comes with the oven. The pan is about 2 inches shorter than the oven is wide, and the sides are low. You can make steak for one if the meat is lean, We ended using our old enameled cast iron frying pan for our steak. I would recommended this oven for a single person only.

Got it at BestBuy store because that is the only model on shelf. Cook and toast food fine. It has a timer to auto turn off (30 min max) and this is helpful so I won't have to watch when baking a small meal. The rack inside is crooked one side is higher than the other. The door does not feel sturdy but close right. The oven legs are not all even so I had to stick a cardboard under the back leg so the oven won't wobble. I know my counter is level correctly by using a bubble inside the rule to test. So the oven was not build to sit on the counter evenly. I use it to toast bread, warm up pop pie, etc. everyday and it does the job. Small size to fit on kitchen counter without taking up a lot of counter space.

It was time to upgrade from my old toaster oven that gave out about a year ago, and I was tired of the inconsistency that came from my microwave.I decided to go with this small toaster oven since I have limited counterspace in my kitchen. I realize it's not tiny at all but pretty standard and works very well. And it heats up quickly and cooks food thoroughly. The only drawback is that it takes a while to cool down on the inside and doesn't have an automatic shut off when the front door is opened. It continues to stay on and heat. But overall I'm satisfied with this toaster oven and I like the shiny black outside.

I had my previous toaster oven for over 20 years and I think it will take me just a bit to get used to toasting with this new oven. I tried to toast a fairly thick slice of a sweet bread and burned the first 2 pieces. I don't think it is the fault of the toaster and I just need to watch it closer until I know just what setting to use for certain breads. My previous toaster oven was an under-the-counter Black & Decker and of course they don't make them any longer. Well, actually they do but they have a 3 month wait and are close to $200!! I like the look of the Oster. I have not used it too much yet, but I am sure it will be just fine for baking, broiling and toasting. The price is certainly reasonable.

Oster brand has been used by my family since I was a little girl, so I trust it. This toaster oven does a great job reheating things that would turn soggy or rubbery in a microwave (grilled burgers, corn dogs, chicken strips) everything comes out as if just freshly prepared. I haven't cooked in it yet, only reheated, but I'm confident it will do great. One bonus I wasn't expecting is that it actually has a 30 minute timer instead of 15 minutes, as stated in the description. Plus the small size fits perfectly in the space we had for it. If you're looking for a long trusted brand in a toaster, this is it. And it didn't hurt that I got it on sale for $24.99 :)

I purchased this toaster oven when my 15year old unit died, so I am very familiar with how to properly use a toaster oven. I purchased this unit on the 12May2014. In mid-October, it refused to shut off. I had to unplug it and have had to do so since. I have tried to call Oster multiple times since they do not respond to emails and their number says they are open Mon-Fri from 9A-6P EST but that does not seem to be true since I just got that message at 3:45P CST which is only 4:45P EST. Not even 6months and it's dead, plus no customer service, complete waste of money
